To me there is no such thing as too easy or too hard just give it to the players and let them have at it. Its 2014 and there is still games out there that don't have difficulty select in them.

I switched to casual for 2 dragons early in the game, after the second I forgot to put it back to normal. It was only after I felt extremely overpowered against same level mobs that I realized I was still on casual. I was killing enemies with 1 or 2 abilities.

At the start I can imagine casual still being a little challenging but as soon as you hit level 9 or 10 the difference in challenge is huge.

Casual is definitely not casual in DAI.

On Casual, you should be able to go through it without breaking a sweat.

Here, on casual, you still have to be careful about what you do in a fight otherwise you could die.

I have to disagree from my experience—which isn’t to say that casual shouldn’t be made easier still! No reason I couldn’t play Normal and let others enjoy a nicer Casual setting. I’m definitely one for going through a story over playing a game.

I just wonder if there are tiny tweaks you could use to help things go smoother for you until and if such a thing happens?

I too noticed little difference between Casual and Normal, but I have to say that with a dual-wield Rogue (which everyone pooh-poohs for some reason), I can mow down regular stuff pretty much by myself. Flanked initial strikes out of stealth regularly outright kill non-tanky enemies and most of the time I can just zoom around  the battlefield spamming abilities whenever they come off cooldown and I have stamina.

I’ve just focused on damage abilities, crafted some stuff (I do think I spent a Perk on schematics), and settled on party composition of DW (me)–archer–sword+board-mage.

A few fights, like that one rift in the Hinterlands, require coming back later. Dragons at correct level are doable (I think the first one I had to use Regen potions to keep out of trouble).

I'd half to agree with what a few of you are saying. Casual was relatively difficult to start with, but now that I'm lvl 12, things are going ok. The only issues I'm running into is when fighting a lvl 12 dragon (because BW decided no one likes having healers), the despair demons (dear god, those guys hurt! ), and the wrath demons.

When either of those two spawn from a rift, my mage immediately focuses on them. Ice for wrath, fire for despair. Otherwise, they can easily wipe my party out.

Things might be easier if I could wear better armor...but.................those broken elf arms...

I really do want my healer characters back. <_<

You can fight things naked? Without the ugly pjs? What is this sorcery!?

No reason why you shouldn’t be able to. It’s not like it affects anyone else’s enjoyment, although I suppose it could conflict with BioWare’s artistic vision ;)

The combat in DA:I is not fun for me and I don't want to spend any more time or effort on something boring than I have to. Combat in ME was fun for me, it suited my tastes so I played on insanity. DA combat is boring for me (with DA:O being the best of the three) so I play on casual but in inquisition the battles take too much time and effort. Too much micromanagement even on casual to make up for the lack of detailed tactics, competent companion ai, healing, and health regen after combat.

Let us hope he does not get excited in battle. He might be pounding on the enemy in ways you don't want to see.........

The easiest difficulty should be so easy that it would be difficult to lose a battle even if you were a skilled player trying to lose.

My only huge complaint with the battle is the respawn time. I clear a group of enemies, literally walk around a nearby rock looking for goodies, and they've already respawned. How is a person supposed to clear an area and search for spoils of war? (though this problem was mostly apparent in the Hinterlands while the mages and templars are fighting)

Every storytelling game should have "Do You Want To Skip This Fight [Yes][No]" popup on easiest difficulty. This way you would be able to play it for story, like the old good P&C adventure games. And you should get all the XP and loot like for playing it manually.

If it were so, maybe I would even try to play a few jRPGs for thier story alone. But the thought of the painful grinding in them is not letting me.

Nah...that would get a bit annoying after a while, specially if its done for every random battle.

Especially in the beginning. This casual is a lot more difficult than previous casual settings. Especially when you get a rift with those tall spindly screech demons that pop up behind you and knock you down. I'm not bad at the game by any stretch, but I've died on those once or twice when I wasn't being careful. You shouldn't have to be careful in casual mode.

It's not easy by any means on casual up until about level 12 or so.  I think it's more tied to the enemy types than anything else.  A level 4 red templar with a shield has to be handled the same way as a level 15 red templar with a shield.  You still have to have flanking or knockdown attacks to do damage.  Once I started paying attention to this type of stuff, it got better.  Still annoying, but better.  I'd rather casual was a little more casual in this game.

ah, the terror demons. Lovely, aren't they? Wait till you run into despair and wrath demons. (here's a hint if you're a mage, fire against despair, ice against wrath)

But how would you change it, cap the dmg output when they pop up, or remove one of their base skills? AFIAK from the higher difficulties (I only played on NIghtmare, so going by what I have talked to with peeps online), nightmare for instance the demons/bosses have more resistances/higher levels. Like when I went against Envy, he was immune to pretty much everything; stuns, sleeps, ect. Which if I am right from what I hear, at lower the things he are immune to are a lot less, right? Which would probably open up a lot more tactics to go with.

Then play adventure games......I mean the RPG ones do entail having a battle system. If you want otherwise, then do a different genre. Or look up a video where it has just all the cut scenes and such and play it by watching it.

No clue what your point is. Would that option bother you somehow ? Yeah I can watch the videos or play adventure games. Two questions

Is there an adventure game in DAO setting ?

Can I make story choices in youtube videos ?

Point is you're asking to play a genre of game while removing a key component of it, easy or casual does not mean removing all of combat, that is just silly. Do you wish to play a shooter without combat as well for the story, since some have good ones as well? Or how about games that have puzzles but just skip through it? Really though your point makes no sense because you just want to buy an adventure game not an RPG, which obviously seems like not the genre for you.

In dragon age setting no (but there are books), but there are plenty of adventure games in a lot of different settings. Telltale games are making more and more lately; GoT, Borderlands, ect.
