I don't doubt that life exists elsewhere in this insanely huge universe of ours.
I also don't doubt that some of it is sentient, at a level of intellect, technology or both that equals or surpasses our own.
I just doubt that FTL travel or communication is possible, even for the most advanced of species. Which means the chances of a drop-by are astronomically high, as all but the nearest hundred or s stars in our galaxy would be outside the range of radio wave contact to make them aware of us, let alone respond in kind (or travel to our planet). If you consider the fact that FTL travel and communication is just not possible, then suddenly the theories about government cover ups and conspiracies evaporate and you are faced with a sobering thought - we just aren't worth the trip.
are you saying that even with FTL travel we'd be worth the trip? ![]()

All they would need is a resource or curiosity, and they could justify it. This is assuming, of course that they use logic as we do

"Organic compounds" is so vague and nondescript that it's basically meaningless.
Literally anything containing carbon (one of the most common elements in the known universe) can be classified as an organic compound.
Thank you for that Su Lu

Even at sublight speeds there's been enough time for a intelligent species to spread throughout the entire galaxy, so where are they? (Fermi Paradox). Most likely intelligent life self-destructs long before it can get to that stage. That's even more sobering. ![]()
Thank you for that Su Lu
oh there are loads more like that.
I just made a drunk thread
