Firstly, it doesn't matter how long you spend customizing your character, they are always going to end up butt ugly.  As a result you have no pride in that character.

Companions: Apart from Cassandra, whom is passable, the rest are dull, dull, dull, and have a tenancy to speak through their rear end.  Who wrote this awful dialogue?  Even Varric is muted and boring.

Facial expressions: Facial expressions seem to have been restricted the the nose, and forehead, giving the impression that most of your companions are in competition on who can best honk like a pig.

As for romance, forget it, none of them are even worth a hand-shake.

This is without the choppy, and for the most part, amateur looking cut scenes.

Honk!

Ok, that's your opinion, One I completely disagree with, I love all the companions, I was actually going in figuring I'd dislike vivi, blackwall, cole, and Solas, completely wrong.

I don't know whether I'm boring or patient because I love all companions and advisors.

Difference of opinion, man.

The facial animations are definitely pretty terrible.

Varric's sad attempt at a wink when he first shows up is probably the best example to prove this point.

OP: Everything you've stated, as has already been noted, is opinion.

I, for one, differ greatly on that opinion. Sera has got to be the most real-feeling romance option I've yet encountered in a Bioware game, and I can't stop talking to everyone and everything in Skyhold because they're all so damn intriguing.

Same. The more I talk to my companions and the NPCs, the more I enjoy them...I really thought I wouldn't like certain characters, but I'm liking them, and the ones I though I'd like, I love! The only exception is Vivienne - thought I'd hate her and yep! :P

Meh, my character is gorgeous(hell, there's even a full thread of 'em somewhere on the forums) and i think the companions are some of the best ever featured in a Bioware game in the past 10 years, the best of any DA game anyway.

I am 14 hours into the game and not ONE tingle, not one laugh or tear, nothing but yawn, I am finding the story and characters extremely sterile.  But I guess it's different strokes for different folks.

I find it hard to take my companions serious when dialogue outside of cut-scene  has them walking around banging off the scenery, why can they not stand still?  I would hazard a guess at it being the limitations of the frostbite engine, this is not quite the same as Battlefield. :)

I think this will be the only Bioware title that will be totally forgotten in 6 months.

It's a game based on medieval culture, you're not supposed to be good looking. If you want metro looking characters, there's plenty of games out there to oblige.

I don't find the characters boring at all, I find them cohesive to the theme.

Enthusiastic vivid characters just annoy me and I would just be looking for a way to kill them off or alienate them from my party as soon as humanly possible if they started acting like a 16 year old youtube personality. If that's the kind of people you like to converse with, I'd likely treat you with the same disdain.

No offense intended of course. Just not my thing.

I haven't been the game yet, but this my favorite cast of characters in a DA title so far.

Solas, Vivienne, Dorian, and Blackwall are all pretty interesting I thought. Cole as well, which was a surprise for me. I thought I wouldn't like that character.

But to not have the choice?  It's butt ugly or nothing.  In fact they seem to have gone to great lengths in the butt ugly department.

I think they're fantastic. They react to the world and show a very human side. Leliana? Bull? Solas? Dorian?

I loved these characters so much. I hope to receive more content with them.

Doing impressions of a pig grunting I suppose could be described as being human.   :)

I like the companions, but I might agree on character creation. At least for human. I find the others more flexible for some reason. I just don't care to play the other races at the moment.

I was really happy with how my elf Lazlo turned out in the CC. It definitely took a few tries to get him right though.

How are you talking to your companions? Only asking because I have experienced very little party banter and have never been given the option to actually talk to a party member.

Was hoping there was a way to do this.

I am still trying to control the game with the terrible controls so had no time for companions so will not comment until i either play some more or wait for patches and fixes.

...I still have only picked up a few of them and not really trying to find them.
