While this is true, there are also side quests that have a lot of thought put into them. Deciding whether the character will do this or that. No RPG has quest that are all AAA quality. And this comes from a huge fan of TES and Fallout.

That was an incredible quest.
I dont know. I have been playing for about 10 hours now, been moving forward the actual plot as well... and I just find it very boring. I will finish the game because obviously I paid for it, but the political stuff bores me to no end. Just like in real life, it is so uninteresting. Alliances, backstabbing, bla bla bla... Hence also why despite being technically better, I much prefer TW1 story to TW2 and I couldnt care less about Game of Thrones.
I hope it will grab me once I hit the so called 15 hour mark, but for now, I am disappointed. This game has an identity crisis: it wants to be everything to every one. When DAO came out, it was special. It was clearly a Bioware-kind of RPG, which you did not really find elsewhere. Now in DAI, Bioware is actually borrowing/taking from other games: it wants to be Skyrim, it wants to be DAO for the epic feel and lengthy discussions, it wants to be DA2 for the non-stop action, it wants to be a little TW2 with the loot scanning and action RPG combat... This is a confused game and it leaves me confused as to how I feel about it. Oh well, we will see but for now I struggle to make it through those endless Mage/Templar/Chantry/Tevinter talks. I usually have to turn it off after 2 hours. I just cant continue.
Edit: and bugs. So many bugs. When I am in the middle of a conversation, I cannot stand having my followers not settle in one spot. They go crazy, right left up down, end up on tables, furnitures... What a mess.
I'll admit it, I almost cried.
That was one great moment after another.
That was the part that made me play for 8 hours non stop!!
That part where the Inquisitor walks over the mountaintop and sees Skyhold as the music builds up made me goosebump overdose.
I got goosebumps that whole quest! ![]()

That was epic but did you see how Solas stared at him? You could almost see the questions in his eyes as in, "What are you going to do with it?". He's quickly becoming one of my favourite characters.
EDIT: I may just upload the whole bit. I went back and replayed it just to record it. My conversation with Mother Giselle after Haven felt extremely natural too but I am playing a character who isn't sold on being the Herald of Andraste just yet.
The ending to this quest is the "Normandy Reborn" of DA:I. The buildup, the music - just epic in every way and very emotional. It's one of those moments you want to watch on YouTube again and again even after completing the game multiple times.
Yes. That part of the game is just amazing. It's like the fall of the Grey Wardens in DA:O, but a lot more emotional because it happens so late into the game and you care that much more for it.
I'm not that far into the game yet, but so far the story is already more exciting than almost every other Bioware game out there (maybe except for Mass Effect 2).
Just finished it myself. Very cool moment, and so much of world opens up after it.

where is Mother Giselle in Skyhold? Maker, that place is too huge to be abandon like that.

Sorry, I meant my conversation in the makeshift camp between Haven and Skyhold. However, she has only just appeared in Skyhold to give me a quest pertaining Dorian's family.
Note to self.
Invest in snow shoes.
And a bloody coat.
Also yeah that was basically the best bit so far. I guess DAI is a slow starter... if you spend 20 hours wandering the Hinterlands like I did. The world is ending but I really need more Elfroot.

She hangs out in the garden. First door on the left when you walk into the main hall.
I'm playing RPGs since 1983 (lol), and that quest was one of the best ever. Wow. Impressed.
mmmm... I forgot what that mission was about ![]()
I personally loved "Here Lies the Abyss." That one is amazing... Mind you, I don't know if it is less impressive if you don't have the secret companion of Origins.

In terms of combat there are conflicting designs but in terms of the story and the overarching aspects I don't think its like too many other games with the way you gather power and take territory and the wartable aspect. The side quests pretty much all tie into this fairly well.
I cried but I also really like crying

Yeah, was absolutely loving the game and then got to that quest and just... wow. Completely blew me away. Single favorite mission of any Bioware game. Ever. ![]()

That mission hurt me so much. I still don't think I'm fully over it. (seriously, amazing quest)
Yeah, not really sure of how many permutations of that quest there are - but I can imagine that mission would range from "Epic" to "Painful" to "Downright cruel" from person to person. At least if there's as many variations on that as I think there are.
Love this quest yeah and love this game. I really like what Bioware did with Dragon age 3. I also do not get it why some people complain about this side quests that are boring MMO quests. (1) I do not think they are boring, as they make really sense as part of the main story and (2) Every RPG has these side questions. Even Skyrim had them and The Witcher had them, but it is perfectly normal.
