Yeah, that's where the game went from amazing to INCREDIBLE to me.

Well I plan to do this mission tomorrow, I kept running into this need to restart lol. Driving me crazy because now I only got like a week or two to beat the game lol
Too many Spoilers for how I feel after I finished this mission. But game should have been linear until you beat this mission.
The main issue I have with the game is crappy, MMO-like side quests and world content. The main quests getting better doesn't really improve that, sadly.
But do you have to keep telling us? =)
No offense, but I swear i've seen this same post nearly verbatim in at least 5 separate threads.

Don't do what I did and attempt it before heading to work. I was an hour late because of that damn mission. lol.
Just done it. Why make us slog through 10-20 hours worth of content before actually "starting" the game properly?
Matter of opinion of course, but this feels like the beginning of the game to me, story-wise. Everything before-hand has either felt rushed, or just boring to play.
Though apparently I have to progress through another 15 or so MMO-style quests to get enough power to progress onto the next story mission. Sigh.

"Main" side quest in each area is very good as well. For example "Still Waters" in Crestwood is just brilliant, despite being only a side quest.

That moment was beautiful.
Here's the promised footage. Spoilers obviously.
And the last one:
My FEELS were ALL over that!
The build up! The lighting! The scenes! Everything was EPIC!

I aggree that there were quite some good scenes in this mission, but let's not sing the praise sky high just yet. Personally i found some parts of that mission quite bad and jarring. Particullary the "Your lost in the snow, no really, this isn't linear at all" sections were awkward at best and painfully dull at worst.
Bioware i know that i am not going to die of thirst or hunger in this game, so making me walk about 3 centimeters per minute isn't going to make me any more tense.
Yes i am nitpicking and a lot of the scenes are absolutly fantastic, but i don't get why bioware forced those really dull, let's be really generous and call it "gameplay" sections in there i just don't understand.

Because some people really like this stuff, myself included. In 90% of all movies you know at all times that the main character is going to survive whatever ordeal he has to endure but that doesn't mean it's not engaging to watch. In this case it's just a different kind of cutscene and I for one liked how slow it was portrayed.
While I do not disagree that many TES side quests are far superior to DAI, you cannot deny the fact that TES main quest is as bad as DA side quest.
So the difference is focus. DA offers far superior main story while TES offers far superior side quests.
To be fair, if you take all the excellent side quests in TES as one and compare it to DA's main quest, TES definitely pales in comparison.
Thus solely comparing the strength of TES to the weakness DAI is hardly fair.
Edit:
The same is true while bashing TES for its weak main quest
Because TES can be modded, some of the most amazing quests were created by the players. If you are still playing TES take a look at the "Interesting NPC's" mod. Adds hundreds of NPC - all voice acted and some amazing stories.
I've said from the beginning you can't compare DAI to TES. You just can't. Compare it too ME3.
Now back to this game - yes this was very moving. I had tears in my eyes too. Also, there are a few other things I've ran into that had me on the brink - one was a song/poem called "Andraste's Mabari". Also next time you are inside an inn, stop and listen. The songs are really good.
Another part that killed me was telling Varric about Hawke. Anyone who has reached Act 2 will know what I'm talking about. Varric's tribute was very touching.

yes, it was all for the feels!
I liked the whole scene except the singing. I thought that was corny as hell.
I just finished this part last night which turned into early morning since I couldn't stop playing until I reached Skyhold. I couldn't turn off the game in this section! The scenes after the snow are simply epic. Kudos to Bioware. I got chills and goosebumps. It made me forget about all the little things that are wrong with DAI and remember the reason that I play this game: for the story and hoping to experience epic moments like this. The first time you go through this part of the game this is simply WOW.
I'm going back and doing it again for the experience. Plus, I earned it (as we all did) after completing the quest to get to Skyhold, which is long. That final battle victory is hard fought and well earned.
I hope there are more moments like this later in the game.

I'm going to disagree with you on this. If the goal is immersion, and you fell down a hole just narrowly missing the avalanche and know ONLY that you have to get as far away from that place as possible, but are lost in blizzard like conditions on a mountaintop with no way of knowing which way to go...I felt they did a fantastic job on this scene of giving you just enough to invoke feelings of "I might die out here."
In a game context, of course, we all know we aren't going to die and we have that radar map in the lower left to guide us. Still though, I think it does an outstanding job portraying the potential hopelessness and despair that one might feel in real life in that situation - to the extent available in a video game.
Try walking through two or three feet of snow in windy conditions. Your pace will be about the same as your inquisitor in that section.
That quest was amazing. I also loved the use of 'scene breaking' to imply long periods of time passing without making the player actually sit through them.
Cullen's face when he joins in though. Hilarious.
Just finished this quest today and it left me absolutly breathless. It was one epic scene after the next. I really can't wait to finish this game yet at the same time I want to take my time to explore everything. And romance Cullen ![]()
Wow I must be dead inside. I love the game and all but that song did nothing for me. I thought it was kinda cheesy to be honest.
