Aeries dying in FF7, Bethany dying in my DA2 game, and the new Normandy in ME2 had more impact on me. All were unexpected and weren't scenes that broke player immersion by changing controls for no reason. In Your Heart Shall Burn also felt very cliche, Champions of the Just and the mage recruitment quest were amazing unconventional missions in my opinion that were creepy enough to have an effect on emotion and pique my interest.

Bethany dying in my DA2 game
Oh c'mon, that bit was really poorly handled...
I also don't understand the bit about controls. You cannot run through deep snow. Trust me, it's impossible.

I thought it t was a fine scene, but I have no emotion invested in Solas, especially at that point in the game, and there wasn't any great deep or meaningful dialog. If this was the second or third game where I had been interacting with Solas, and he said something that made me reflect on my character's situation/choices/etc., then yeah, it would have been exactly the type of thing that gets to me.What did you think of Solas' first conversation at skyhold then?
ME3 had tons of feels because ME3 earned it over three games. The final scene of Citadel, especially, is what I remember getting me the most. "...the best." Low key, simple but meanginful dialog, builds on years of gameplay, etc.
This scene in DAI doesn't get me here because the game just hasn't earned it at that point, in my opinion. I'm 60 hours in and I still don't think the game earns it, actually. I don't care about my character, my companions, or the Inquisiton as much as I cared about the Wardens or my family in DA2.
This game went too big, and it lost a lot of heart. Because of this, a forced heartfelt scene just doesn't work for me.

Totally agree, the game was 6/10 for me, then went down to 5/10, but then 8/10 from that quest all the way through to the ending.

Well, I didn't cry, I rather smiled ... because everything from start to the finish felt like: Alright, now its personal, now its business. You beat us down, we don't care, we are still here and fight you. I like that.
I also liked the singing. And I am glad Bioware put it in. People complaining or saying it was cheesy and corny, well, yeah, you see...that moment feels truly authentic. Before people became all cool, hip, edgy and that, they sang a lot. When they went to war, praised the gods, gathered around. And people of Thedas are for a large part very religious, the Maker is real for many of them. A concept mostly dead to us "educated" non-religious internet-gamers that know how the world works ^^
So yeah, it got me emotionally, it made perfect sense and fit the mood of the scene .. but Cullen may not be the best singer, true. But the Maker only sees your heart, not hears your voice
or maybe he does, and the singing in Thedas was driving him from the Golden City ![]()

I love that scene, though I have to admit I chuckled when Cullen opened his mouth lol

I absolutely loved that scene, so many emotions and goosebumps. After that the game just kept getting better and better. Same feeling gave me the Alistair's speech before the archdemon fight.

Now the song is stuck in my head! And Cullen again... lol
Btw, you should put spoiler tags on that video
The music during that quest is also pretty awesome:

I cried - not a bit ashamed to admit it. ![]()
I couldn't believe how everything came together in that scene -- even the dialogue choice I made right before the song started ("I've lost faith").
Truly one of the best gaming moments I've ever experienced.
