Changing World State of An Already Started Game

Hello to all,

I've started a DA:I game with the deafult world state because I didn't know what a world state is (there is literally no explanation of a "world state" in-game). When I learned about Dragon Age Keep, world states and what they do, I realized that my DA:O and DA2 changes are way too different than the default world state. I've already played for about 10 hours before realizing these stuff.

I would like two features:

1- Please add an explanation of a world state in Dragon Age Inquisition and say that "world state=your save data from the previous games".

2- Add an option to edit a world state for a game which is already started. It is player's responsibility if the changes trigger bugs in codex, conversations etc. I would definitely change my default world state to the one shaped by my previous games, no matter how many bugs it will cause.

It would be nice to hear some feedback.

Best regards.

Except world states do not reflect your save data, you need to make all your choices again in the Keep. All the Keep does is import your warden's and champion's avatar, level, race, and class. An explanation is not needed, if you really wanted to know what a World State was when you saw "Import your World State from the Keep?" you would have check yourself, it's called google.

And the second one will never happen. End of discussion.

So, according to you, Keep is not about our decisions in the previous games. I'm sorry but you are wrong. Major feature of Keep is our decisions. And these decisions affect our DA:I experience. Players should not be forced to google Keep in order to understand the consept.

End of discussion.

Well, that's the direction EA and BioWare went; so deal with it. Your small opinion, my opinion, even a tenth of the community who complains; means little to nothing to BioWare or EA. They get money even when they don't try.

You're both right, wrong, and silly.

While you can say he should have looked more into the game before buying it, the game should explain it's mechanics. As he says in his reply, he should not have to stop playing so he can go google something like that.

The Keep imports the decisions you tell it to, but it does not import directly from your save files. There is no save import. It will grab your character info; name/race/class. You must manually enter your decisions into the Keep tiles.

As to changing worldstate mid-game, that would create a lot more work and no company could get away with purposely putting in a feature and telling players that it's their fault if it crashes.

Would like to have such options the OP mentioned specially Nr. 2 or at least a Gender switch for Hawke.

The Keep is simply buggy since It is in Beta and therefore it is a gamble to have a World State on witch you remember.

For me all worked fine until I met Hawke who is male instead of female like I played in DA2 and had chosen in the Keep.

I really wonder who was the Genius decided to disable the Gender switch in the custom Hawke dialog and why.

You guys. Wow. You cannot change a world state of a already started game because it is locked, look at your playthrough state in the WS manager. If your that worried about a bugged world state start your game make your character and save at the first opportunity. Go to the Keep and see if your playthrough state reflected properly.

Great suggestion would have done it if I knew about it about 50h of playtime ago now it's simply to late.

But o well I've go on with the Game now in my Mind I never heard about DA 1+2. :)

It's just sad because it kills immersion of many Players for something easy could have been prevented if done right.

Well, i cant look it up in keep because my current playthrough was never shown. As well as all the other new characters i created.

What about looking up your world state ingame? That feature would be great.

More important: Changing the world state ingame. Dont want to restart after more than 20 hours in game.

P.s.: And any constructive reply on this would be very comforting, still hoping this gets adressed by the devs.

I'm reasonably certain that that's impossible. The world state will have affected things that you already did, and if you change the world state, some of the decisions you've already made might not even exist anymore. It seems like a recipe for a zillion bugs.

My wife and I share the same account since I only bought one copy for us to use.  Just found out after about 10 hours of playing my game on a second play-through that her import was the last one up and I had no idea she was the last to upload her version.  A simple mistake on both our parts.

Fantastic to find out that I can't tell my own story and there is no way to fix it.  Apparently my Hawke found Fenris worthy of 'her'...  time.  *gag*

At the very least, I would like to see when you make a new character, an in-game outline of the imported world state. Easier to verify that you have the correct import, especially if you don't think about checking the keep site until you're 20+ hours into a game.

The keep has a worldstate as soon as the game is saved (if connected to the internet) So once you get past the very first cut scene you can go and check that the DA:O and DA2 info is right.

In fact as soon as you start the cc it happens (I have a ws in the keep from a cc that I quit)

Im sorry, but it does not. Cant see my last two playtroughs in the keep. One of them my now screwed 20 hours game.
Thats largely frustrating, to be honest. Not sure if im motivated enough to start all over again.

I suggest you to continue from your 20-hour save. I was also frustrated but as I continued playing the game, I noticed that my choices in DA:O and DA2 mostly affect some codex entries and a few line of dialogue. It is not worth starting all over again.

That probably means that you aren't connecting with your Keep account when playing DAI. And that would be why you aren't getting your world state. It could be either an incorrectly associated account or network settings if playing on a console.

I am connected to the keep. I strongly suggest it is a bug, something that will be changed shortly. But as long as it remains, i cant check my used world state.
I dont want to be misunderstood, i love the game so far and i've heard great things about it.
But some disapointment remains.

@yasirkula: But i want to know what happened to my morrigan loving Warden and their child behind the Eluvian.;-)
(Pls dont spoil me!!!) :-)

Just because you are connecting to the Keep, doesn't mean you are connecting to the right account.account.

As long as you are following all the steps in this guide, you should be able to export your world state properly: http://forum.bioware...to-inquisition/

The steps in the 'Setup' portion are particularly important, and be sure to check out 'Troubleshooting' near the bottom of the page.

Once you've done that, you can double check that your world exported correctly by following these steps: http://forum.bioware...through-states/

It really should be possible to change the game state from an already started game.

I updated the keep with all my choices before Inquisition came out, then when I started my new game I imported from the keep and it said it was successful. I noticed it was wrong when I met King Alistair and Queen Anora and that bothered me enough but I didn't think it was worth starting over. Now I'm about to meet Hawke and I'm so gutted that I don't have the option of making her female. Hopefully there's a way to hack it because I honestly don't want to keep playing the game now.

Given that Bioware should know by now how much choice matters to people, I'm amazed no one thought about this.

I have only one Account, please believe me that i double checked the issue and that i am quite sure its a bug.

@Renata: I will follow those steps again and give some feedback here. Your answer is much appreciated. Thanks so far.

I'm over 40 hours into the game.  I JUST learned that none of my data from the keep carried over.  I spent hours recreating my choices, but the game made @#$%ing NO effort to tip me off in the first 30 hours that it hadn't loaded in my Keep world state.

It's just... I spent so much time playing those games.  A simple "watch out, you're not using your info from the keep" would have worked.  A little piece of opening cinema recounting the fate of the Warden would have tipped me off.  Just a little something...

Bioware, PLEASE give us a tool to fix this.  It's just completely ruined the game for me.
