It does say "Import worldstate from keep?"

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I'm in the same boat. I'm 12 hours in and just realized my Keep world state did not actually import, even though it was the only one there and the only one linked to my Origins account. Instead, the game auto-imported a default world state when I went through the importing at the start of the game.

This is a really bad system. I had no idea a default import would even *be* imported so I assumed that my world state had been imported successfully... until someone referenced Anora as the queen a few hours later.

Do we know for certain that there is absolutely no way to change the world state midway through a playthrough? I can't find a straight answer on the help pages.

Only way to change it would be to hack it, and I don't believe anyone knows how to do that yet. And even if you could, it would probably make the game extremely buggy.

*Sadness*

Alas!

I think I'll start over. Good thing I get three weeks of Christmas vacation. Ha.

Really wish there was a workaround though, or that I'd known more / been told more via the Keep on how to actually do the importing. That's the thing that bugs me the most -- if there had been clearer instructions, I would have known of the possibility of a default world state uploading erroneously and could have watched out for it.

I successfully imported my world state and began my game just fine -- then I got an error message 18 hours in telling me that there was an error with the keep, and now I'm back to default world state.  Is there any way to reassert a previous successful import?

Once you import a worldstate its baked into the character.

They could shut down the keep and it would not affect your game.

Perihelion -- Wow, that's weird and horrible! I haven't heard of that happening before. And you're sure that your world state originally imported correctly? E.g. what characters said about DAO & II matched your history? And then it just vanished?

I would contact EA with that one, for sure. The BioWare Dragon Age Keep site doesn't seem to address that situation and it basically states if all else fails, contact EA: http://help.ea.com/ca/contact-us/

Good luck!

I am 50 hours into the game and just received my FIRST indication that the "successful" import of my custom world state was apparently very unsuccessful.  It happened first when I read a letter that stated Loghain in alive (when he should be very dead), and then BAM!  Hawke is a man.  My Hawke was most definitely not a man.

50 hours into this game just to find out that it erased the previous characters I put so much time and effort into, who I became so attached to.  It's heartbreaking.  I almost don't want to play through the rest of the game, because seeing my "reality" thrown away is horrible, and re-doing those 50 hours is assinine.

Heartbreaking.

Up until this point I was thorougly enjoying this game, and just like that it's become the biggest dissapointment.  What a let down.

It seems like this problem is wide-spread enough that Bioware has cause to fix it for players already many hours into their game.

Until and if they fix it, I think I'm too heartbroken to continue with the rest of the game I started.  It just doesn't feel worth it if it's not continuing my story.  It feels like I completely wasted 50 hours of my life.

Not that the issue shouldn't be fixed, but how much can it really matter in a disconnected game with a different protagonist? Were you only planning on one playthrough? This isn't the same as in Mass Effect where you pick up where you left off with the same character. I understand being bothered, but it doesn't speak very highly of Inquisition if it's not worth playing if the worldstate isn't right. You're not the only one to say this.

Are you sure you imported the custom worldstate? Look at the playhtrough worldstate and see what it shows. If its FHawke then something went wrong. If it's MHawke then you have the default.

@natureguy

I thought it speaks highly of the game if people dont enjoy it with an incorrect ws

How so? The game doesn't stand on it's own merits in that case. It shows the value of the previous games and the series that people are that invested, but not Inquisition

Seeing as it was advertised to show your choices. I'd have been unhappy if it didnt work,

JasonandSarah, I agree with everything you've said and feel your frustration. If it makes you feel any better (I doubt it, but maybe) I was 25 hours in when I decided to go back and fix the worldstate and start over. It only took me 12 hours the second time because I was so much faster at just getting stuff done and not wasting time until I was caught up to where I'd been. So, you might end up finding it worthwhile to just re-do the game. I'm very glad I did because the world-state does have a hugely (imo) significant impact on the game, on who you see and end up spending considerable time with.

And I feel you on the fem-Hawke! As soon as Varric (I think) said "he", my heart sunk. I played a female Warden and Hawke and suddenly switching to male heroes immediately ruined my level of immersion.

I hope they fix this, too. What I really think is also needed is much clearer instruction within the Keep on how to do the importing. I had to look in multiple places (and not just on Bioware) to figure out what exactly had gone wrong.

And the import screen at the beginning of the game is just god-awful. When you can't even seen what exactly is being imported (only a timestamp, no other details), the possibility for this happening to many others is high.

Not having it import the given name of the Worldstate was stupid.

Yeah, and we've seen that before. But it isn't working for some and they are unhappy. It's one thing to be disappointed that your worldstate isn't right, but it's another thing if that makes the game no longer worth playing.

They really need to fix this issue. I am 16 hours in the game and noticed my choices from previous games are completely wrong. Restarting the game is going to be so frustrating. I cant believe you cant import into an already existing game. i spend most of my time following the story i created in the first 2 DA games and now its all jacked up. It also says you game state can be imported any time through dragon keep and they dont tell you it is only for new games. Fix this please! Guess Ill just start over..... THANKS BIOWARE! People buy these games to immerse themselves in another world and you destroyed the one i was building!

You definitely told it to import a custom worldstate before starting the CC?

70 hours in game is when I found out my import was bugged: my rogue Hawke was all of a sudden wearing warrior's armor and sword and shield. Sooo I started searching the forums, learned here that it's possible to check the current playthrough in the Keep and what did I see there? None of my custom heroes were imported: there are default ones with default names and in case of Hawke - wrong class. So I checked the locked world state I imported and never changed in tapestry ever since - there are still my custom heroes that have nothing to do with those that got imported. WTF?! Everything else imported apart from heroes.

I'd really appreciate a way to fix my Hawke's class as I certainly won't start a new playthrough 70 hours in game. Maybe there should be an opportunity to specify class while recreating Hawke as import is obviously unreliable.

What do you mean by "wrong class"? Did it change it in the tapestry? Are we talking about one of your custom Hawke's or still the default?

Yeah I also spent a lot of hours ingame until male Hawke arrived and typically said: Yes Sir, Surprise!!

I spent an hour doing the awfully convoluted Keep Tapestry and ingame I confirmed the prompt "Load Custom World State". But I was not careful enough, you have to do it manually on the Keep website. And then load the custom world state and so on. I do not remember my actions correctly.

Currently, I hate my character, I hate my default world state and I curse BioWare for that. The standard world state is just boring. But I lack the motivation to start from scratch.

Unfortunately Dragon Age has become a hardcore lootfest and is underwhelming, despite the very good graphics and cool ideas across the board.

I'm so depressed! This happened to me-- I did everything right and I somehow got stuck with the default world state.

I spent a lot of time today fixing everything in DA Keep (creating a second world state) -- seems that everything is right except my Cousland Warden keeps getting replaced with the default Cousland. I don't understand ... why.

Man, I just want to play the game. ;_;

You mean the Cousland keeps getting replaced in the play through states? Because DAI doesn't import char names or portraits, so when the data is forwarded to the DAK for the play through state, there is no identifying info so it just uses the default for the combo. If all the other choices are right then you are good to go.

Mmmyep, at least the choices are all good to go, so I'm gonna run with that. (I think I had about 32 hours logged in the game with my first run before I went "Wait, something is wrong")

So hopefully, it shouldn't take me too long to get back to where I was level-wise/story progress point (I got lost in the HInterlands :P)

All I can say is if you are 30+ hours into the game I'd suggest to continue and forget about your lore history. At least you can see the differences afterwards with a second world-state-correct playthrough. I do not know whether the changes are worth the turn-around effort, but I doubt it to be frank.

If you are a dedicated completionist, okay that would be another story.

And to be fair : it says Dragon Age Keep "Beta", so they may look into some improvements in the future hmm

Edit: I forget to mention that I made one big mistake and I assure you to avoid this:

- check the Playthrough States in the Keep if you have the correct one.

At first I did not know that there's a guide actually, but see yourself:

http://forum.bioware...through-states/

Which isn't a good excuse since it's a core part of the game. Really, that means Inquisition is also in Beta.

I have to defend BioWare on this one, I know I ranted after a ragequit some days ago but I think the Keep homepage was one of the best things they've ever implemented (for free) and they called it Beta as an excuse because they know of the minor bugs out there. Actually, it works pretty darn well although the ingame support should be much better to give you immediate insight what world state you currently have.

I bet that this is part of the console port program and they had not the time or the staff ready to change the menus in a way to appropriately (=userfriendlier) connect with the Keep. Now to be absolutely sure you have to backcheck on the homepage, which I did not dig into right off the bat I have to admit, because I was eager to start playing.

Continuing Savegame Legacy is one of their features and the Keep is a detour excuse but it is nevertheless done in a neat fashion I think.

Problems that gripe me are that it is a bit too convoluted and some choices have weird restrictions.

Fan made savegame editors were without frills but worked great back in the days and this should make the devs think :)
