Once upon a time Bioware used to make very good games and the Metacritic user score reflected upon this. The Metacritic user score and user reviews were considered to be quite helpful and accurate.
ME1 and DAO were the first games of the series. Back then people weren't spoiled brats and players tended to enjoy whatever was given to them.
ME2 was pretty great. It had some flaws but nothing relevant to the overarching experience.
You realize ME3 received A LOT of hate for the ending ( which was eventually fixed ), leading to a plethora of 0/10's which implied that the game was horrendous when in fact it was pretty much great except for the disappointing ending. The current iteration of ME3 DOES NOT reflect that score. It's pretty much a 10 with all its DLC and the EC.
DA2 received A LOT of hate for several reasons that are admittedly justified. The game was pretty good in other aspects but its score is definitely not above an 7 or an 8 depending on what you liked.
Now you have people who hated ME3 and DA2...and here comes DAI.
Suddenly every issue that does not please them is HORRIBLE and renders the game unplayable.
0/10's for not being able to run the game because of their own fked up computers, some issues with gameplay elements, and the lack of proper hair.
Alright then.
I didn't see anyone rate DAO a zero because of its much more gamebreaking/apparent flaws.
I posted this in another thread:
Inventory management was non-existent at first.
Combat is a slow hot mess that needs Combat Tweaks to be remotely challenging.
It had tons of ability fluff and several useless specializations that needed Combat Tweaks to make interesting.
Coercion was mandatory to make the game more interesting. Otherwise it had black or white decision making.
Most skills were useless, again requiring Combat Tweaks to make them useful.
Mages were blatantly overpowered. There was a significant discrepancy in player power across playthroughs.
Companion approval was mostly based on gifts. You bought their approval... how charming.
The fetch quests had very little context and were clustered.
You virtually did no exploration, and whenever you had to people complained (The Fade, The Deep Roads).
The game crashed a lot for no reason until patch 1.03
There was no storage space til Warden's Keep was released.
Armor and weapon crafting was non-existent.
THE MEMORY LEAK!!!!
I know right? Perfect 10/10 game compared to DAI.
