seriously im looking all over The Exalted Plains, and looked all over Western Expanse, any got a easy way to acquire this stuff for the knight enchanter quest?

South of the first camp in the Western Expanse there are two caves. You can find some in there.

the only thing south of the southern camp is the Marker.which is weird because the two caves you are speaking of are probably the ones the prima guide shows in the guide as well, but i dont see them in my game. Do you have to unlock them some how to appear on the map (that sounds so strange saying.)

my mistake i was in the forbidden oasis and thought that was the western expanse. lol

Are there other locations with Lazurite? I refuse to go to the Western Approach before I do a bunch of other stuff that I'm going to miss out on XP for if I level too high, and I'd hate my Dalish Elf Mage got forgotten about if that's the only way to get enough lazurite to become a KE before I get sick of getting the stuffing knocked out of me as a squishy mage.

U can get Lazurite in the Western Approach with out getting much, if any, XP.

I'll confirm that. The biggest thing to worry about is the Rift on the way to the mine, but you can rush past that. I get all my Lazurite from the abandoned mine that you have to use a Mage to Energize some debris into a walkway to get into. It only has two veins, so I generally leave, then come back. Two runs, and I get all I need. However, if I'm reading this thread correctly, the cave right next to that also has some Lazurite, so you may be able to get it in a single run. Regardless, even if you kill everything on the way, you're not going to get a bunch of levels just getting 10 Lazurite. Dip in, get the ore, then leave, and you're done there until you actually want to start knocking out the area's quests.

Meh, I'm more concered with the story quest there, as a rather anal RPG player I won't head to that area until I'm ready to do the story quest, and just wont set foot there if I can avoid doing so,

U can literally pop in and out and affect nothing. If u want Lazurite, theres not really other options.

I got lazurite without ever stepping a foot in it. Just scout the area as soon as it becomes available. This should open up " gather resources " war table mission. Then just do those. I sent Leilana, and got 6 lazurites for each time.

Once you've discovered WA, you can also just send Cullen to get it via the war table. Send him twice, you'll have what you need. It only takes 15 minutes and you can be off doing other things.

I actually found tons of Lazurite and Nevarrite in the Hissing Wastes, if you're really willing to spend the time to go from rock formation to rock formation.
