Gathering resources gets boring after a while

Although I think it's a great idea, the gathering of resources gets too boring after a while, what if we had an option on the war table like the money one? Send the advisors' people to gather the needed resource and just wait for them to come back with it and we, the Inquisitor, focus on doing the missions?

I understand the crafting and customization, I think it's really nice, and it adds a lot to the game (and its playing time) but the missions are the emphasis, and gathering resources take such a long time that I feel like I have to choose between crafting and doing the missions, but I don't want to choose. If I had the war table option, and I mean option because I could still go out and gather whatever if I felt like, I could do both, crafting and mission, satisfactorily and without getting annoying, because having to push the search button every second to see if I'm not losing any important resource in the area is indeed annoying.

That's my opinion of course, I know some of you love to go out in the wild picking up flowers and grass and rocks, but I think the Inquisitor would have more important things to do...

If there's already a topic on this, I'm sorry, I searched but found none.

You actually do have that option. I’ve not used it so I can’t say how effective it is… but there are persistent resource missions on the table (eventually).

REALLY pitiful you mean. But then again, so is the money one.

Also, at least leather is a consistent drop per creature and metal is easy to find. Finding enough of a specific type of cloth is like pulling teeth, it's so RNG.

I can farm leather, I can farm metal, I can farm herbs, but GOD FORBID I be able to farm cloth.

What will really bake your noodle is that some of the rare crafting items eg. shadow essence that is actually for a turn in gets sent directly to your valuable section.

I learned the hard way.

Unfortunately the War Table gather missions rewards are atrociously low. They would have to be multiplied by 10 in order to even be worth the time. Or perhaps a dynamic time mode like a slider you put 8 hours (overnight) and it yields more results.

Not to mention Cloth being very hard to reliably acquire.

I didn't get to the point of having this option on my war table yet, but I'm already disappointed... I wonder what the testing team was playing when they should be play-testing DAI...

I have done the mission and the rewards were very small 5 elfroot etc for a return for hinterlands. I would rather just buy it all from a vendor.

Mentioned this in a dif thread, but it'd be nice if taken over forts or camps in maps would send u resources overtime that are available in that zone.

This. Make sure you check the merchants. I can't remember where it is but there is one that has most the lower level herbs for 20 gold each.

Also if you aren't above creative time management, to pass something annoying and on a pc. The war table mission timers are based off the clock on your pc. If there were some way to adjust the time on your pc you could instantly complete repeat missions and turn them in. Even with pitiful returns it is faster then gathering... That is if only there was some way to adjust the pc clock.

Indeed - it's even worse as you do have people who are trained herbologists etc. working for you...same for trained miners (hell, if you look at it like that: you probably have hunters etc., too - after all you need to keep your Base (Skyhold) supplied and at the start nobody but your people is doing that...no caravans full of food coming in, no sir - gotta go out there and catch it yourself (well: let your guys do that))

=> So in theory: Hunting, gathering, mining etc. should not be tying up your main advisors (if you give us a WAR-TABLE (it's not a SPY-TABLE or a DIPLOMACY-TABLE), let us use it fully (moving agents, ressources, armies, support-troops etc.))...we are gaining agents, but they are just a damned ressource?...they don't even really have use :(

greetings LAX

ps: worse is your personal garden and the castle upgrades - almost useless (why does my gardener not harvest the stuff in the pots and put new seeds in - till I change it for another seed-type?)

LOL!!! It's as if they are: "Damn Inquisitor! A spiritual world war going on and I'm here gathering herbs and rocks... Just because of that I'm going to gather this ridiculously stupid amount of material. HEY GUYS, COME HERE! Let's have a coffee break, the Inquisitor is paying. We are not in a hurry anyway."

Excellent idea! I wonder if it's too hard to implement on a patch...

Perfect! You have the people, but you have to do the job while they sit on your castle and sing and drink and dance. Of course when you are there it seems they are working and they act as such, but as soon as you leave, the party starts: "Papa has gone to work guys. It's PARTY TIME!!!"

It seems they focused too much on some parts and totally "forgot" some essential functionalities...
