I've encountered this. It happens for every character with every open helmet I've seen until this moment. It seems I'm not the only one.

I'm playing on PC, well above recommended requirements (8GB RAM, i5 2500K, GTX 970), Fade Touched texture option, and the game is downloaded and installed through origin.

I have the same bug. (Also pc, high-end) It is incredibly annoying to look at. This is the first post I've found that mentions it.

This is present on the Xbox One as well.

There are also some missing textures on a couple of helms.

Hopefully they'll also add this one to the patch list.

Even though it's not open, the Venatori Helm has the same issue. The metallic texture is there but it's missing the rest.

This is on PS4.

Hmm, seems to me that may just be the way it's designed, at least for the first two images. Rendering hair under hats realistically is more complicated, from what I understand, and BW may not have had enough time to implement it properly. Looks like they just rendered a leather "cap" under the helmets which "covers" their hair...could be totally wrong though...

Sorry but I don't think that makes any sense. Even if they rendered a leather "cap", wouldn't that be leather colored (textured) instead of white? In my opinion the white cap is meant to be transparent, it just isn't happening for some reason.

Edit: I found more people with the same problem at EA answers or whatever is called.

I have this same problem.  Very irritating.  I am loving the game so far but there are so many little bugs and weird things wrong with it.  Seems like it could have used a couple more months of polishing.  I think a lot of people are having this problem. This seems like it should be pretty easy to patch.

1. Leather will be the color of whatever animal it came from; doesn't necessarily have to be light brown.

2. Just because people think its a bug does not mean it is a bug. Could just be poor design, or corner-cutting, and people think its a bug 'cause it looks terrible.

Does anyone not have this issue with the bald cap under helmets/hats?

1. Yeah, but it is always white!

Look at this image released by Bioware and compare it to my screenshots:

Does anyone not have this issue with the bald cap under helmets/hats?

This is a really good question. It must be really widespread; I even saw it in random screenshots people took to show off complete unrelated things.

I have this texture bug too, feathers, leather, hair in open helmets. Also, there are many other surfaces that don´t show any textures (some walls are black).

Hello people,

I reported your bug to modders : http://daitools.free...1631.html#p1631

And a kind soul named, DarthParametric released a tweak (PC version) : http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/126/?

Please remember to thank him if you download his fix.

Have a good day and happy new year.

Many thanks to you and the modders for reporting and fixing this!

Albeit I'm feeling dissapointed with Bioware... This leather cap solution to the open helmets seems pretty lazy to me.

It's nothing new, they have done the same thing since Origins. Their solution for mage headgear brought about a lot of derision for how stupid they looked. A better solution would have been a two-stage hair mesh, where the top half could be sliced off by headgear (basically the same trick for ceilings getting removed by the tactical cam in Origins, more or less).

Btw, I noticed that "sacking" on the Venatori/slave helmet has much the same problem, as posted above by Rizaun. I'll have a look at adding that.

Actually I took those screenshots as an example, but this problem is present in many more helmets than the ones I put here. Since you are kindly taking care of it, I'll try to take screenshots and note the ones I encounter and post them.

This doesn't really "fix" it though, just changes the color of the cap to brown.

It fixes it within the limits of what is currently possible. Mesh import is not possible at the moment, but even if it were there is no guarantee it would be possible to have a helmet not remove the hair mesh when equipped. There is a chance it might be feasible, there's a wedding headdress that comes as a separate helmet model, which seems, from the one instance I have seen it in-game, like it may not remove hair. But whatever item definition files they have would need to be found and decoded first, and then editing them made possible, which hasn't happened as yet.

Don't be picky, please.

But if you prefer, I will change to "tweak" instead of "fix".

I understand. It just seemed to me that the word "fix" implied that the whole thing would be taken away, which it wasn't. So, my confusion.

People were complaining it was white. Now it isn't. Seems like a fix to me.

The problem you want fixed is a whole other kettle of fish, namely art direction/design on Bioware's part.

Another issue is the boots changing colour to bloody tan. That is another thing they need to fix. Btw caps have that white stuff, some helmets have that as silver chain mail. It makes no bloody sense.

As I mentioned in the mod description, there are two types of skull cap used in the open face helmets. One is leather, which this mod addresses, the other is chainmail, which my mod leaves untouched. The chainmail one is used with primarily metal helmets, while the leather one is used with primarily leather/cloth helmets. I get that people don't like the look of it, but it's actual perfectly logical.
