My current opinion and about "rushers"

After about 30 hours in the game (just got Skyhold) and many years of experiences with games like this I'd consider DA:I

a MASTERPIECE!

When I got my DVD on Thursday I looked at the forums during the install procedure. Of course there were countless "done", "ready" or "finished game" posts.

After said 30 hours I must still scroll down to view all current quests. This means, I will be busy for the next days just to finish everything in the Hinterlands, let alone the surroundings and then all the stuff in Orlais.

After the 30 hours disappointment of DA II this seems to be (finally) a true 100+ hours RPG, as is right and proper.

So I wonder what kind of motivation drives someone to rush through a game like this in ridiculously short time?

Different strokes for different folks, even if I agree with you. I'm going to be taking my time with this one, that's for sure.

So I am going to post "DONE! .... but only 732 hours playtime?" or something like that? ;)

There is no issue with those whom like to rush, as long as they don't complain how short or boring it was, because they missed so much content.

The only reason I'll be rushing is because I want to enjoy it in peace before my 4 month old son comes back from staying with his grandparents for a week!  Gaming time is precious when you have a screaming infant!

Depends on what the person likes.

I'll generally go around and do the proper side quests, but tend to skip some of the collection busywork like shards.

I thought it was a masterpiece, but I don't like the healing system. It sucks big time.

Everybody plays differently, In any RPG my playthroughs are generally between 1.5 to 2 times the average playtime I see on forums. I do not like to left stones unturned.

Now, that's a reason even I can understand. :D

But I am certain, you don't post "...I am soo good, the game is sooo easy and has soooo little content..." and stuff like that, right?  ;)

I finished the game with 100 hours, have to say you can complete relevant story (main and companion quests) with MUCH less than that (finished with an extra 317 power) and didn't do EVERYTHING, but like 80%. If you go main story without companion quests it is short, too short and doesn't really paint the game story in the best light. But if you only skip sidequests you might in fact get a better, more concise, experience and that works for a lot of people that hate the skyrim aspects of the game.

For me, I don't necessarily want to rush through my first play through but I need to know the story. It's killing me. However, I have four play through's planned and intend on taking my time in those.

Just remember to leave the hinterlands every so often!

This game is going to take me forever...which is a FANTASTIC thing.

I just GOT Skyhold, have not even touched the main quests that open after you get it...just been exploring and doing side-quests and such.

46 hours in :D

Other game devs TAKE NOTE! YOU CAN HAVE QUALITY AND QUANTITY...STOP BEING LAZY AND MAKING 5 HOUR GAMES AND CHARING 60 BUCKS FOR THEM.

The Elder Scrolls should definitely take note, or Bethesda in general really.

I was the same! Talking to companions, exploring and meeting Varric's friend took a LONG time haha.

I'm about 42 hours in and it feels like there's so much in the game I haven't done or experienced yet. Just exploring and interacting with your companions offers incredible amounts of content. When I'm finally done with my first playthrough, I'm gonna start a new game with a male inquisitor just so I can romance Cassandra . She might be my all time favorite character in any video game so far.

50 hours in, so much more to do. I usually progress the main story when I reach the high end of the recommended level but I'm holding back atm because there's too big a list of missions. I still have areas to unlock and the ones I have unlocked have plenty to do on them. Still a lot of inner circle stuff to get done and I'm just enjoying the in world vibe too much to push through and end the game.

Why do people do it? Some like to brag, some can't wait to get the story done and some people just like finishing a game as quick as they can. To each their own but they are missing out on a hell of a lot, some of these side missions completely trash the complaints made about side missions you can tell who's actually playing through the game. ;)

I won't say the name of the quest cos spoilers, but one of the main plot missions took me a long ass time. But it was so much fun because there were lots of mini missions within it that were optional. I only managed to get some done because I didn't have "enough time" to do them because of a certain someone deducting that time from me grrr

I think that game could take insane amount of time. It play Nightmare, FF on and on PC, that adds alot, above it. I cant rush with such settings anyways, not i want to.

I also do not understand the rushers, they missing the world ,its immersion, atmosphere. And i think that path of hero/messiah should be real challenge, thus Nightmare FF slow pace for me.

What do you mean?

I spent 80 hours on my first TES:V play through! I think I have 180 hours logged in that game in total. Still haven't found all of the Barenziah stones!

I wouldn't be pointing my finger at them. They have a ton of content in those games as well.  Now some other series....are definitely lacking.
