Hi. Just curious as to whether people are happy with the character they made for their first run through based on the story in the game and how they tie in to it?

Personally, I played a dalish rogue and thought it tied in very well. I imagine it might be the best to play tbh, I think it will probably be my canon, along with Male Noble Warden and Female mage Hawke. Gonna try a Qunari warrior next I think.

Dalish Elf just seemed right to me, and I am pleased I chose it for my first play...tbh though I had to change it a bit as the character I was trying to roleplay seemed almost exactly the same as Solas!

Extremely pleased. I come from a strong Catholic background and am now atheist, and in-turn I felt a strong connection to my human who was supposed to serve the chantry despite not believing in the maker. They did a top-notch job.

I've just restarted as a human warrior and tbh, I thought the elf was done so well I am tempted to just play another one.

A qunari's background doesn't come into play much, but the fact you are qunari does. People are likely to distrust you and call you ox behind your back all the time. And there are small references to the background but nothing major.

That being said, I never felt like the story was written for another race or something. It felt right.

I like the Human Noble. All right, my families are not nobles, not even remotely but they are devoutly religious Hindus and I am an atheist who is of the opinion that religion is for primitives. So needless to say, my relationship with them are not..well...

Which makes RP-ing as a Trevelyan who does not believe in this whole Maker nonsense or Herald of Andraste superstition and being a family outcast of sorts is truly awesome..

Yes.

Rolled a male elf mage and several scenes really caught my eye, namely with Solas talking to my PC after the Inquisition song (campfire song as I call it), when they were discussing how the truth could hurt the humans perception of them.

Several mini conversations with Cass, Dorian and the comments from NPCs about the vassalin and how my Dalish-ness stands out and how I can mention belief in the elven deities.

Sera and Solas and their disagreement with the Dalish are also more noticeable. They show more discomfort on my PC believing in uplifting their people and any sort of favoritism.

All this without discounting the human Chantry (my PC has nothing against it, he believes that whatever others are into is fine so long as they understand he, as an individual, places no stock in Andraste as anything more than a figure of the past),

Honestly, not really liking the backgrounds. I play human and although I am glad he is a noble, I don't really like where he comes from. I wish they could have at least let the player pick a background in a dialogue or something. They did the origins better in Origins  :pinched: Also am not really seeing any talk of his origin but that might be because he is a typical human.

Yeah that scene really stood out to me as I was also playing an elf. The whole temple bit and pretty much everything involving Solas just feels very natural. I think they did an excellent job and I am interested to see whether other races feel the same, or have similar bits.

Would female Qunari lesbian please Sera? She asked Iron Bull about the women of his race with so much enthusiasm... gotta give it to her

Not really
As a warrior dwarf that had carta connection, It was a cool set up and all but I never role played my character as one.

My only complaint about the human mage background is that the character once answered for me that she didn't join the mage rebellion. I very much wanted my mage to be a rebel. Instead, I've been given options only to express support for mage freedom. At least I'm able to use the Inquisition to aid that goal.

I wish there was an option somewhere in settings to -----> make small adjustments to the facial/hair. Even after stepping into the world.

The lighting in character creation does not do a good job at showing the what the character will look like when in game.

I'm playing straight Qunari female at the moment, but I read somewhere that Qunari are like 4x approval for Sera romance, Dwarves and Humans 2x and Elves 1x.

I'm on first playthrough with a Qunari, and I've found that you basically set your backstory through dialogue with companions and advisors.  Yeah, you were a merc, but dialogue lets you decide what role you had in the merc group, how much you know and/or care about the Qun, or the Chant, etc.
