Out of the 7 matches I've been in today (whether or not they were complete due to a party wipe or lag), 3 of them featured background noise from someone's children, and all of it gut-wrenching. I'm not exactly a fan of a child's screaming or begging of attention, and I've yet to meet another who was.

 

Not to sound preachy or anything, but I suggest looking after your [younger] child(ren) first. Pretty sure they were here before this game was (unless they were born on or after the 18th or 20th of this month). There will always be at least one set of eardrums you can destroy when you hop back online later, but I'd rather you make childcare a priority.

I have to agree.

Hearing someones baby cry for 15 minutes while playing is horrible.

I feel like a terrible person and it isn't even my brat, so sort out the kids first.

True.  I could see neglecting kids during a match of ME3MP, but not this.

its disgusting.  if you have responsibilities especially a child.....that's something you made, it was your decision.  Its now time to grow up.  Take care of your business.

 

They don't need to go afk they need to get off the video games unless the kid is asleep.  I've seen this multiple times.  I was playing ME3 with a guy one time and it was bad how the kid was crying so finally I said "Is that your kid I'm hearing?" he replies "yes...sadly, this is annoying and its all the time!" I go "Yeah tell me about it....maybe you should go be a dad and get off the video games."  his reply was "Nah I'll never stop playing games....I fed her and I don't care I did my job, this is my time."

 

If I could punch that guy in the throat right now, I would.

I agree about people taking care of their spawn of course, but as an FYI, you can click the center icon or type 'v' which will let you mute players while you're in a match.
