Naturally when I play an RPG I tend to choose a type of character that is different from myself. I'm myself enough, and this is fantasy so an elf female I did create. An elf mage to be exact. It go me to wondering though, if that combination was best fitting for the 1st of many playthroughs. I say that because of the unique way mages and elves are treated in DA. Perhaps I was bitting off more that I needed too; I'd be getting flak from being an elf, as well as a mage.

 

Maybe an elf warrior or rouge would be good, and then a different playthrough as a human mage. That way I'd get the unique world of playing an elf, and then a unique world of playing as a mage. Does anyone know if there is also unique speficics (story-wise) to playing as an elf mage?

 

These sorts of questions also arise when I think of dwarf and qunari but I haven't really set out to takle those just yet.

I'm playing a Dalish elf mage and she has some great things to say about elves and magic, For example, there is a Class/race locked conversation with Solas which is 13 minutes. haha

I have a Qunari mage and there's been at least one specific piece of dialogue concerning that (there may have been more) so far. Anyway, I know for certain that you can talk with Vivienne about how Vashoth deal with mages among them, which I'm guessing is specific to Qunari mage characters (the dialogue wouldn't make much sense otherwise I think). It's pretty short though, but I think it turns up here and there occasionally.

well my plan initially was to be a Male Dalish Mage but i couldnt find a face i liked so i  rolled Human Mage instead. Having a Mage Herald of Andraste has been pretty cool. I'm thinking my next playthrough will be as a Elf Rogue and it'll be interesting how different (if at all) peoples reaction to the Herald of Andraste being a Knife-ear

My original plan was to finish this playthrough with my elf rogue and then maybe do qunari or human mage next. However, I really like Solas, and have recently been considering doing an elf mage to see how that played out with him. Sounds like it will be worth it.
