I cant understand why the controls are so bad, why cant they be like the previous two DragonAge games, both had there bugs but were at least playable. I cant express my disappointment on how poor PC controls have been implemented.

:You cant run holding both mouse buttons like in previous games

:No click & move

:The cursor is tiny, often get lost in the background.

:Tactical view is to zoomed in, doesn't zoom through buildings

:You cant walk, only run all the time

:You cant rebind the mouse buttons

:No backtracking, pressing back turns your character towards you

:The tactics are so basic, they need not be in the game

:You have to press & constantly hold R to basic attacks

:The camera angles are poor, you cant zoom in for close ups

Maybe this game will be good, but if the basics arnt even implemented it becomes a chore to get anywhere in this game.

I agree with the whole lot of this, my main problem through playing on PC with a controller is how godawful the UI and how clumsy and illogical it is. I thought I would try playing with the keyboard/mouse and found it even more terrible.

It is a shame because the rest of the game, story (etc) seems like it will be amazing but I am spending so much time fighitng with the UI. Gameplay/world I would give it a 9/10, the UI barely 2/10. So when people ask me if I am enjoying I basically go "er, um, I think I am"

the most ridiclious thing I have seen so far is that there is no way to switch weapons during battle, as a rogue I cant pull with a and then 'lose a turn' as I switch and go to knives when things get bad... that is a fundamental oversight.

An Xbox controller costs 40$ where I live.

How about Bioware just fix the damn controls instead?

A game should play well with the native control method. Especially a game in a genre with 15+ years with basically the same controls. If you are going to reinvent the wheel, you should have a very good reason for it and when it fails? Fix it.

Hey, those controls are their artistic vision. Don't question it.

I have tried DAI with both Keyboard/mouse and a Xbox One controller.  Though I loved the option to walk with the controller, I find the keyboard/mouse is a lot better *shrug*.  If the search/autoattack keys are not working for you, you can rebind the keys to be more comfortable.  I have the search key rebound to the middle mouse key (though I had to change my middle mouse button to emulate V).

How about "if it isn't broken, don't fix it". There was nothing wrong with the way the camera and tactics worked in Origins. Combat could be sped up without changing the combat system entirely.

1- I'd love for this to be back. Why not, right?

2- You can do that in Tactical Camera... Helps you get up slopes you can't normally. Weird.

3- Haven't had this issue. I'd be more bothered by a large obstructing cursor.

4- No, it doesn't remove roofs, or leaves on trees. I'd love it if they could somehow do that, especially leaves. You can however, zoom in and out by holding right click I believe.

5- I KNOW. I really need to walk, sometimes you just want to walk. Why is there no toggle for this??

6- I haven't tried.

7- Huh?

8- I'd rather have simplified crappy tactics over nothing at all. I'd want to have DA2/DAO Tactics though... really badly.

9- I know. I want auto-attack, fingers get tired after a while. #FirstWorldProblems (but seriously, auto-attacks are welcome.)

10- If you're trying to see if your character needs to go through CC again, switch to another companion and stand behind someone, see if that works.

:No click & move

The no click & move thing is very annoying for looting chests and monsters.  I have to be right next to the loot before I can loot it.  This is realistic but not very functional.  I somewhat understand why they didn't do this as a lot of loot you need to be right next to the location and click and move can make you fall from high hights and you die but it still is frustrating.

I"m getting the feeling a lot of these issues like no click to move is because pathing for the AI is so bad. My characters continually get stuck in a  group, leaving me to fight something down a fairly straight cave tunnel by myself.

7- Huh?

He means "backpedaling". The character turns around rather than walking/running backwards.

Cool, next time they should design the interface for mouse+kb functionality and ask console gamers to buy a usb mouse+kb. Adapt, right?

Working as intended.

But why does DAI feel, look and play like a console port?

I agree with everything PLUS allow us to zoom in and out while in combat! I hate the fact that it zooms the camera out automatically.

Maybe this game will be good, but if the basics aren't even implemented it becomes a chore to get anywhere in this game.

I only agree with some of these. Click and move, a fix for tactical camera, no auto attack, and cameras again. Back tracking isn't that hard, hold RMB and your character keeps looking in that direction. You can also lock on to the target with tab and it will do the same thing without locking the camera angle.

I'd add in, there's something funky with the hold positions command. In DA2 I could combine hold positions with the click and move (available in tactical camera in DAI) to precisely control where characters would stand. I have yet to successfully combine the two in DAI. Either they stop moving and get slaughtered, or they go to their mark and then rush right back into close combat, and get slaughtered. On that note why are mages and archers programmed to close with the enemy? (seems to happen much more often in hallways)
