The description for the upgraded whirlwind skill in the 2handed tree gives "damage bonus per rotation 15%" and says the skill becomes more effective the longer you sustain it. The obvious implication there is that you are able to spin a whole bunch of times. But I have Whirlwind and so far as I can tell my guy spins twice every time I use it. No more, no less. How do you "sustain" whirlwind? I hit the button, he spins twice, and it goes into cooldown.

If you direct the AI to use it, how do they use the power?

I'm guessing until he runs out of stamina...

You can hold button down and do it infinitely as long as you have stamina (think stamina regen passives).

On the topic of whirlwind: is anyone else a bit underwhelmed by this skill?
- With 2H weapons your basic attacks also deal AOE damage
- It deals 70% damage, and only after upgrading it does it begin to deal more over time
- It's not until the fourth swing that it begins to deal more damage than your basic attack
- It costs stamina
- It has a really long cooldown
- There are already plenty of skills for dealing area damage (Mighty blow, Earthshaking strike, Charge etc.)

I'm in the Tac Cam, there is no holding the button down. If I give someone an order to use Whirlwind in Tac Cam shouldn't they keep going until they are out of stamina? They always stop after two twirls.

Jais9: There are situations where you'd want to use Whirlwind, such as standing in the middle of a bunch of frozen enemies. Because it detonates them all. But not if I can't get it to work properly in the Tac Cam mode. If you google or search the forums it looks like a bunch of people have been seeing this problem, I see at least 4 threads about it.

Yeah, considering how boss the skill was in DA2 when used right. The upgrade "Rising Wind" to this move should of been something like "15% cooldown for every enemy hit."

Whirlwind just sucks...I used to play my 2h warr with whirlwind built, but it wasn't efficient. Focusing on single target dps is more viable, aeoing in the middle of mobs just gets me killed.

And as detonator is bugged too. SHATTER combos only do 1 damage if detonated with Whirlwind
I think this is a problem with the warrior class/2 handed build overall. Mighty Blow also does a shatter of 1 damage. Which is weird, and forces me to find other ways to shatter.
But, yeah. I hear people telling me how great Whirlwind is.. but I don't see it. I'd rather go down the left tree for Pommel Strike, go down Battlemaster left tree for 30% bonus damage on knocked down enemies, go down into reaver and end it by getting the passives in SnB tree. More balanced and efficient, especially on NM/FF on, than going for WW doing little damage + will get you killed more times than not.
Maybe I am missing something...

I recommend checking out Lastpawn's updates for Earthshaking Strike. May change you opinion on this ability.

Ice mine
Ww
Ko bomb
Next swing of ww
Horror
Next swing of ww
So on and so forth. The stamina is really a non issue if your tank is bunching guys up and you have the stamina talent that's right under whirl wind it'll practically pay for itself.
