No gambit system, terrible AI, poor character controls, what is this?

So Bioware decided to skip out fully on the gambit system to customize how you want your allies to use their skills, such as when x amount of enemys are clustered together then use X AoE skill, if your ally is being hit then use x agro skill, when x amount of melee enemies are on you then use X skill to stun or move or what ever, none of this exists and now I've had to resort to disabling most of the skills from the AI being able to use them as they just use them randomly and with no pre-requisite, such as my character used it's leap shot that sends him backwards just because an enemy was passing by him and ended up flying back off of a high vantage point and down a hill, as opposed to perhaps having 2 or 3 melee enemies on him and then he uses it to escape, none of that exists anymore.

The game is now a 100% micromanage game as you're playing with brain dead AI that don't even have an individual hold position command, I spend far too long in each fight having it "paused" so I can direct them to simply use a skill because I can't trust the AI to do it, if I left all the skills on for them to use then they would go ahead and waste an AoE skill on a single target as opposed to waiting for a bunch of enemies to group up to be able to use it.

Then there's the way that the character controls, why couldn't we of just had perhaps a more refined way of how DA2 worked? you could so easily switch between targets at a distance and it made it feel so much easier to combat groups of enemies, it was also much easyier to see what your current target was as well.

What really bugs me about the PC control is that you have to hold right click down in order to just rotate your camera...why? why can't it just be fixed behind your camera and then give us a legit "strafe" movement as opposed to the character simply running left and right from your camera position? it would even make shield blocking a ton easier if you could actually strafe in a direction without having to be locked onto a target and keep targets like mental...that is until you accidentally right click nothing which makes your character stop blocking, this game could of been so much better but playing it in this "finished" state seems like the biggest cluster **** of nonsense and bullshit that I've ever had to put my self through.

Double click on the character.

I hazard it's a reference to FFXII's system, which is quite similar indeed to DA's and predates Origins by three years. No doubt an inspiration.

I love the game but your criticisms are fair. The game is really lacking in this regard.

Gotcha. But if we're going to complain that DAI doesn't do something DAO and DA2 do, shouldn't we use DA terms?

Yeah, though I've forgot what ever the system was called in DAO/2 so I just used the next best thing being the gambit system, I used and abused that thing to death which made the playing experience so much smoother and made what should of been an easy fight...well an easy fight, whereas on here I need to keep messing around with all 4 characters individually which seems stupid when they could of just put the damn system in.
