Please read the initial post before posting! This is not a thread to ask for bug fixes, Bioware is aware of them. :)

Hello fellow Inquisitors!!!! So after reading a lot of feedback on the game's Facebook page and on this forum, I decided to do a comprehensive list of quality of life improvements I (and alot of other players) would love! I'm am currently playing the game on Xbox One but I am well aware of the problems PC players have with the controls and I think Bioware is too, so I please don't not bother mentioning it. I will try to update the list as this thread goes.

A few things to be aware of before reading and posting in this thread :

  • Do not rant about game breaking bugs and the likes, this is not the point of this thread. Bioware is aware of most issues and this thread is not here so you can vent. Criticize in a positive way please.
  • Even if you ask for something does not mean it will happen. Do not pressure.
  • Please try to not repeat stuff that has already been added or mentioned so we don't flood this thread.
  • Try to be as clear as possible when explaining what you would like to get fixed and/or added. If I added something that is unclear, please tell me.
  • When posting about a fix, include the platform you are playing on.
  • Obviously, I cannot add every single thing every single person would like to get added or fixed. In time, it will get added. Be patient, I am but one person.
  • This is not really a thread to report bugs and glitches. if you are having trouble playing the game, go to the support and file a ticket to get help!
  • This is mostly wishful thinking, but don't exaggerate. ;)

So here it goes, i'll try to keep it organised by categories.

Items and Loot:

  • Add a "Move to Junk" button when looting. (See "Menus and Crafting" for Junk tab suggestion).
  • Change or at least give the option to change the loot button from the jump button.
  • Add a chest in Skyhold (even Haven before) to store items inside.
  • Faster looting (like instantly see the contents before/or no crouching to loot)
  • Looting option tweaked so camera doesn't have to be facing the loot.
  • Remove level restrictions from items or have items scale to player level.
  • Drop scaling to player level unless under required level for the current zone.
  • More weapon types
  • Add more Masterwork options to materials.
  • Crafting accessories and with Masterwork mats.
  • Enable Masterworks on all crafting items (like helmets too)
  • Either increase items received when looting nodes like minerals or plants, or make it possible to loot more via a skill or an item effect.
  • Allow supply caches on the field to recover all consumables and not just Health pots, grenades, tonics etc. too.

Combat :

  • Improved tactics and AI. (The best would be like in DAO) More than just a handful of options would greatly help. Especially for players who rather control one character than constantly micro manage the team because they just stand there and do nothing. Example : "Use "Barrier" on Iron Bull when HP is down to 20%". or "Use War Cry when surrounded by 2 or more enemies."
  • Add or modify skills (like adding lifesteal or some resource like barrier for mage and guard for warriors) for certain class for healing, without having to rely on Masterwork mats. Nothing overpowered but to offer some kind of sustain. Dual Daggers and Bow rogues are a good example for this as they are the only class with no "Shielding" mechanic.
  • Make it easier to switch target and make it possible to switch to a target that is off-screen.
  • Add a way to switch weapon mid-fight (like having two sets of weapon).
  • Environment influence spells during combat (Like electricity in water is stronger)
  • Each team member with separate health potions. Doesn't make sense when you think about it to share all the same pots.
  • Balance Specializations and skills. Some skills are completely useless, some are inevitably too good to pass.
  • Enemies scaling to player unless higher level zone.
  • Improve clarity of spell circles. Like Dispel, or Immolate on grass (can be hard to see because of clipping).
  • Be able to queue actions in tactical cam.

UI:

  • Make the search ping clearer, either show the item on the mini-map, or highlight it with some kind of beacon, like the blue waypoint marker on the world map for example. Some places such as the Exalted Marches, makes it incredibly hard to see the items, even when highlighted. (ADDED in some way :D) Could still be tweaked a bit though!!! Orange is an awful color, why not deep light blue? It would be way clearer even in the sand.
  • An option to add filters to search ping.
  • When unlocking a Master Lock and the perk to do so is unlocked, tell me it was a Master Lock in some way.
  • Show elevation on the map with small arrows on enemies and NPCs.
  • Set more than one active quest.
  • Search ping while mounted.
  • Option to lock the minimap.
  • Higher respawn time on random mobs (Bears are way too abundant in Thedas)
  • See terrain and paths on minimap.
  • Add manual map notes and more than one waypoint (different colors)!.
  • Update UI for PC.
  • Add a picture of your character instead of the green hand icon.

Environment and Movement :

  • Less sliding for no reason.
  • Ability to walk over rocks and small terrain elevation without stopping or slowing.
  • Less damage from falling from 5m or less.
  • Better jumping reaction.
  • Either improve characters movement speed just a bit or add some kind of short range dash or temporary sprint.
  • Have small basic shops in camps for selling junk, so no reason to go back to town every time pack is full.

Menus and Crafting:

  •
  • Split "Valuables" into two tabs. Keep this one and add "Junk".
  • When modifying armors and weapons, make it possible to do so without having to switch characters to see the equipped items that can be modified.
  • Make it possible to remove a mapped ability, making it empty again, without having to map another ability over it.
  • Equipped Items should always be at the top of the current list.
  • When equipping potions in the field at a camp, narrow the characters down to the party, not every single party member syou have.
  • When viewing a map with multiple levels, make it possible to zoom in or out.
  • When shopping, highlight tabs with things to buy/sell, and black out the others with nothing.
  • Change "Sell All" to "Sell Junk" in shops.
  • When opening the ring menu (Left Bumper on XOne), make it possible to back out of it with the "B" button. (Circle for PS4, I don't know which one for PC but the cancel or back button basically.)
  • Option to quit the game from the menu without having to back all the way to main menu.
  • Add possible wartable operations as a tab to Journal.
  • Add salvage from multiplayer and remove destroy option.
  • Add loot comparison when picking it up depending on the character looting.
  • When shopping or looting or checking schematics, be able to see the item without having to craft it or be at a crafting table.
  • Clearer dialogue options. Example : Choice is <You better!> and Hero says <You do it or suffer the consequences!> = does not show the intensity in the initial choice. Can be problematic when choices are so important.
  • Add a picture to saves.
  • Make is easier to navigate the wartable (move from one side to the other and move cursor faster) and clearly show (or remove) completed operations.
  • Have Valuables tab used exclusively for research materials and key items such as banners, seeds, quarries, etc.

Visuals and Appearance :

  • Add individual helmet settings. For example, see the Inquisitor's helmet, but not Sera's
  • Add different options for clothing in Skyhold, maybe even as drops. Kinda like the banners and decorations for the Hold.
  • Have a way to change Haircut, tattoos, makeup and maybe even voice, like in DA2.
  • Improved female character models and animations. (Leg spread on the throne?)
  • Idle animations for NPCs.
  • Nudity, or at least underwear.
  • More hairstyles, and overall more customization options. (More long hair choices!!!)
  • A way to adjust length of hair in character creation.
  • More cool armor designs (Like Viv's armor), dresses for females and classy outfits for males.
  • Enable the customization of look only on items (separate from stats).
  • Trophy room in keep to show off items, weapons, armors and bosses killed.
  • Cleavage slider on character creation for females.
  • Better lighting in character creation so it better matches the true looks of your Hero.

Controls :

  • For PC version, click to move/attack/loot.
  • Enable pause during cutscenes.
  • Add an option to enable auto-attacks and auto move to attack, on and off.
  • Improve Tactical Cam controls on PC, control cursor with mouse and not WASD or at least can be modified via options.
  • In tactical camera, allow to change party members without locking onto them.
  • In tactical camera, being able to move cursor through terrain.
  • Add options for camera control, like zoom distance in town or dungeons. Some players would like it farther, some would like it closer. So the possibility of adjustment would be great
  • Add walk/run toggle for PC.
  • Add an option to turn on or off "Loot All" to loot all the surrounding items at a time.
  • Improve inventory management and control mapping for all platforms. (adding D-Pad control for example)
  • Tooltips when mousing over abilities, etc.

Party and Romance :

  • Add more romance options. (like dwarves! Like Scout Harding!)
  • Find some way to have party banter with mounts, as it makes them way less desirable.
  • In "Character Records" add some way to track the "Approval" of party members, either through conversations or as a stat.
  • Make it possible to change party members haircut.
  • Add gifts for each party members.

Utility and Misc.:

  • Make it possible to reset Inquisition Perks, for a good amount of gold or power.
  • Upgrades should not count towards Inventory limit if Materials do not, In my opinion.
  • Show items value.
  • Add a day and night cycle in big maps.
  • Add a New Game + Feature AND/OR more content post-game. (More Dragons!)
  • Add an option to talk to party members on the field, maybe through the order ring menu.
  • Add a way to toggle the approval notifications on and off.
  • Allow some way to change a chosen specialization.
  • Add a way to customize the microphones settings when playing online such a volume, press to talk, etc.
  • Access wartable from camps for non-story missions
  • Research perks for Codex to apply Exp. retroactively.
  • An option to adjust fonts size.
  • Wartable smartphone app!
  • For PC enable the naming of save files.
  • No more bumping into party members or lower collision detection to enable easier movement in and out of combat.
  • When gathering materials from the wartable, improve the odds and quantity of mats acquired when missions in this zone are completed (Like a fully explored and completed Hinterlands nets far more Elfroot for example)
  • Make Nightmare harder or add another tougher difficulty setting. (Maybe unlocked with a New Game Plus?)
  • On the wartable and Quest Map, make it possible to see the level range of each zones. (Example : Hinterlands Level 1-12)
  • When going back to Haven, spawn near wartable.
  • Stats points distribution on level up.
  • Dual Wielding Warriors. Sword and Board Rogue. Make it possible to vary equipment a bit.
  • A way to save you Inquisitors face as a preset.
  • Add more uses for Power.

So there it is. I will try to update it as people add comments.

Well, apart from PC controls issues mentioned everywhere (walk toggle please), there is one minor thing that's just QoL:

Being able to exit the game from pause menu. Now we have to exit to main menu, and then to Windows.
Still way better than the first AssCreed at least.

There's been a fair amount of criticism on the female character design. In short, they're unattractive.

Deeper explanation is they look masculine. Their skin appears too think and their bone structure is boyish.

So, I would like to see an update on their models to make them more feminine.

Indeed, but it does come down to taste and opinion. Some players actually find the females (some) quite good looking. and it is a bit more complex to completely update character models than add some simple things like menu tabs. Still, I do think the models could have a little touch up. I'll add it!

Thank you for compiling this.

(One aspect of the female PCs isn’t as much a matter of taste—the hunched, bow-legged cutscene body is very different from how the rest of the animation for them.)

Does anyone else lose their mouse cursor when trying to use targeted aoe spells and frantically search for the ring while casting?

Demon Commander.. nuff said.

I appreciated the item level 5 rares you are giving me, i kinda would like the "random" of loot chests to be more scaling with prestige/character level.

Yeah some terrain make it hard to see the cursor or the casting ring! I'll add it!.

Even though it probably won't happen, I'd love to see a New game+ option. I'd love to spend more time using some of the gear that you obtain late in the game than just a mission or two.

Being able to converse with your party at any time like in Origins would improve the game massively imo.
As it is, mounts are useless as your party disappears and it stops party banter. Something needs to be done. Not sure what.

Also, as I posted in another thread, post-campaign needs improving a lot.

I would really appreciate an option to enable or disable the approve/disapprove companion notifications; I'm tired of trying to keep up on who approves or disapproves of what while also trying to focus on the conversation. Not only that, assuming their approval/disapproval is tracked, I should be able to glean their approval/disapproval of my actions through dialogue.

At any rate, an optional toggle for this would be fantastic.

For the love of Go-- er, the 'Maker' - add move-to-attack (y'know, just like in Origins and DAII) and auto-attack (y'know, just like in Origins and DAII... ). Constantly holding the right analogue trigger on console to keep attacking is an abominable control input for what's supposed to be a tactical RPG. As it is, the combat is an RSI inducing pain (figuratively, and eventually literally), and I, for one, will be unable to finish the game unless a proper auto-attack in third-person is patched in.

Both previous games had these two features, so I don't see why they were omitted this time, as the combat has not changed enough to require such tinkering.

And lastly: d-pad menu input for controller. Barely anyone bothers using an analogue thumbstick to navigate all the in-game menus. Again, both previous DA's supported this extravagant and wacky feature... so there seems no reason why Inquisition does away with it.

OK, I get what you mean, but I did ask to be clear, and specify the platform you're on...I'll add it anyway to the list, just try to develop a bit next time plz lol ;)

An option to enable this would be greatly appreciated indeed, especially for rogue IMO since they lack range on their attack and you end up missing because the mobs keep moving, quite annoying! And of course that would be an option, not a change because some people love the feel of the game this way. I'll add it!

That's the thing, all BioWare did was remove choice, whereas at least in DAII the player could toggle auto-attack on or off.

Ditto with thumbsticks and d-pads for menu navigation; all previous games (and frankly most games ever released on console... ) allowed for both. Who on earth thought shipping a game without that simple, basic feature was a good idea?

This thread should ideally be sticky'd, unless there's an 'official' thread somewhere else on these boards?

Some multiplayer issues:

  • The microphone is always on. There is no way to mute your own mic (only to ones of your team players), no push to talk. This is really annoying and can be a privacy problem too. Keep in mind that some players might chose to use alternate voice chat services like Teamspeak or Mumble for ex.
  • There is no settings for the microphone adjustment - usually the voices of the other players are very faint and difficult to hear.
  • The characters speed is very low. You feel like a turtle.
  • As mentioned, the controls are clumsy - bad PC porting. I cannot believe that Bioware developed the game for console and ignored the PC optimization.

I am hoping it will get sticky'd at some point but it might be pretty much wishful thinking :P I tried to check if there was another list compiled like this one and did not find any, so I hope this one gets enough attention to become some kind of home base for ideas by players! This game is amazing, but there are still alot of things that could be improved and when they eventually add DLC (cause they will of course, right?) some of these ideas might get added!

And yeah as for the controls in the menu, it feels like they mostly had the gameplay tested out (and maybe not even enough) and never really had the testers try out the menus because it feels so clunky, I can't believe all their tester never would've mentioned it... The problem though is that I have no idea how they could remap all the controls of the menu since the pad is already used to switch party members... Maybe up down to move in the lists and left right to switch party members? We'll see when and if it gets fixed!

I didn't play much multiplayer yet so that's good to know, add some kind of control over the microphones? And yes, character speed, I can't believe I forgot that. i mean, some kind of short dash or sprint at least would be very useful! At least unless they fix the mounts, but even then, inside dungeons or places where mounts are not an option, sprinting would be cool.

Why would it be wishful thinking? Making lists of bugs sticky in threads is pretty much par for the course for BioWare. Pretty sure they did it for the closed beta of the Keep, so why on earth wouldn't such a feature be implemented for the actual game...

Re menus: do other menu intensive games disable the d-pad for menus? I've never played a game that did so. Most get by fine by having tab selects, and usually using the bumpers to scroll.
