I definitely agree, this knocks my previous favorite Bioware game (ME2, if you're wondering) out of the park. That said I haven't finished yet and it could all come crashing down in the last 10 minutes, but I prefer to let the dream live for now.
I was SO hyped up. Yet, the game is even better than expected...

Even if the ending was dreadful, you still would have had 50+ hours of awesome, plus it's not the last game in a trilogy.

Fair point, and it's already above 60 hours for me...

Exactly
You've more than got your money's worth, a bad ending leaves a bitter taste in your mouth but that should never blind you from the amazing experience you've been having!

And since it's not the last in the series, a bad ending can lead to a great game. I mean, look at DA2's ending, underwhelming cliffhanger, but Inquisition either wouldn't exist or it would drastically different if DA2 ended differently ![]()

I am absolutely loving this game. Infact the scope and the content and replay value have me sorted for a few months easily. I also am looking forward to the dlc for this.

I can't wait to buy every scrap of DLC they put out (minus multiplayer, I've never cared for anything beyond small LAN parties), and I am only 24 hours in.

It is better than I expected, I also think it has spoiled the previous games. The visual, audio and scale differences are going to make it hard to go back to the previous two ever again.
However... there is a lot of fluff. I've played for around 40 hours now and am a little tired of the side quests. I'm not a completionist but I try to do it all on my first play through to avoid missing any good story/dialogue, yet the sheer volume of side quest content is ridiculous.
Still, I will do it all eventually, just going to have to pace myself.

I'm really loving it too. Beyond some bugs (which are pretty minor in the scheme of things, haven't ruined my enjoyment), I've been really impressed.
The only post I ever made on this forum was one being critical of DA2 (enjoyed it, ended up attached to the characters, but, yeah). So I was looking forward to DA:I but trying to keep my expectations managed. But so far, I've been blown away. I'm really losing myself in it. I keep taking dumb screenshots of stupid things like I'm a tourist or my character's mom (haha).
It's hard to imagine that DA2 only came out in 2011. It wasn't that long ago, was it? But this is such a huge leap. I'm really impressed.

I'm 40+ in and once I'm loving it. I was really hyped up about this game before release but it has really met my expectations and then some. Sure, I've encountered some bugs and the UI is a bit clunky but for me those are minor complaints and once those get ironed out this might become one of my all time favorites.

I finally got to play a bunch of uninterrupted hours with it this weekend. Very impressed with it. Just a growing respect for what they've done with the game. I took the good advice of getting out of the Hinterlands at level six and once I did a lot more of the plot came into focus and the story is really good once you get beyond that point! Sure there are a lot more little quests to do in the Hinterlands but I'll get back to that later on cause right now I am curious as to what happened to the Wardens. Really sucked into this game right now and the characters are really good. Origins good. Every companion seems to have an interesting agenda and some of them are I suspect being really secretive with me and that's good!
I have no issues with KBM. Gotten so used to it already that I kind of don't want them to change it now haha! But I bet they will anyway just to quiet things down.
A few bugs I had to deal with too including one in Redcliffe Castle where I didn't get a freeze but instead the conversation with a character came to a dead stop and I had to reload an old save to get things back on track. But a minor annoyance that was.
I also wasn't sure about their changes to the tactics menu and I wasn't sure I liked it. I liked how in the previous two games I could set how my companions behaved in combat. I liked that feature so I was initially a bit hostile to what I was seeing in DA:I but this weekend I started to notice that my companions were behaving in the way I would have set up for them anyway i.e. Mage and Ranged char would hang back or take higher ground. Now I am wondering if they have tweaked the companion AI enough that the tactics options from older games are no longer necessary? Haven't made my mind up on that yet until I observe more.

I even love the combat - Dark Souls meets X-Com
Interesting comparison. Seeing as those are two of my all-time favorites, that may explain why I like this game so much. I've barely scratched the surface, and haven't even had the chance to try multiplayer yet, which I expect to pour a few hours into as well. Great game.

Was thinking the same, I've adapted now and if things change drastically I'll be a tad annoyed
Oh well.

I figure we're going to have to accept that we're going to be annoyed as a patch that caters to the complaints is bound to come. Oh well I'll just get used to the new system again and carry on. ![]()

Yup. Controls honestly aren't a biggie for me. Maybe I'm too much of a n00b but I don't understand why people don't just get used to them? Like it just seems like if I can do it, so should others? I must be missing something...

Or if controls are bothering you then how do you feel about the rest of the game? I don't get people who hate the game simply because of the controls. How's the story for you? How are the new areas? The companions? Now if you hate all of that well then you probably aren't going to get it and should move on to another game you like better after you get your refund.

The sad part is, if you look at DA2, it looks much older than 2011. Sure, Frostbite and a huge amount of negative backlash from DA2 has shaped DAI into something truly special, but DAI isn't really doing anything that couldn't have been done three or five years ago.
They simply waited for a new generation of consoles to actually make the effort and do it.

Besides the keyboard+mouse controls issues on PC (Tactical View, no walk toggle, no point and click loot), I wholeheartly agree with the OP.

This I find disheartening. I´ll praise the game for graphics, atmosphere and story, but the moment I criticize the controls for not working as it was advertised to me in dev-vids and I become a demagogue that eats other peoples fun away.
Not excellent.
