Loving this game too! I was worried and kind of terrified after hearing all the complaints at first. However, with Origin's refund policy, I figured it was safe to give it a spin. And things did turn out well, so I could get right down to the meat and start enjoying the game.

The world is so vast! And if you enjoy taking your own sweet time and exploring almost every nook and cranny, you'll be gone for hours. I've clocked up some, and am still "stuck" at The Hinterlands, even though I've unlocked other areas..

While an auto-attack is sorely appreciated for the PC (system that I'm playing DAI on), the rest of the controls are manageable and fairly intuitive.

All in all, I'm having a good time. :)

I wasn't hyped, I was going in expecting to be disappointed but 20 hours in now and I think it's a pretty great game, up there with ME2 but below Origins. Still, for the game to be up there with ME2 is all I asked for. I'm loving the combat, the exploration and the crafting. Questing is pretty bad though (most of the optional quests range from collecting crap to defeating an enemy) but all the letters/journals/diaries and stuff you discover throughout regions really do bring them to life with personality.

The two handed warrior (the class I'm rolling as) is pretty fun to play as too thanks to the block and slash ability and guard mechanic. With the battering ram charge attack (or whatever it's called) you deal damage and build guard and this, combined with blocking enemies and taunting them leads to building a huge guard making the warrior (at least for me) a walking immunity tank to physical attacks if used properly. I'm only mentioning this here because I was expecting the class to be crap (as it looked a bore to play) but it's actually really fun.

I'm finding that the classes are far more planned and balanced too. You really do need to get your rogues to sneak up behind enemies now as they can be torn down pretty fast by a warrior and mages seem to be far more physically weak and need to be used even more strategically with their shield spells.

I played the first 10 hours solo and the block and slash ability combined with the ability that allows you to roll made the game feel like an action game. These abilities helped me out a lot and gave me far more control on the battlefield as I could defeat groups of enemies without even taking damage.

And the crafting is seriously great with how you can use different materials for different results. Some of the armors in this game are really good looking too, Bioware have finally produced armour that actually looks good!

Just defeated the Fereldan Frostback Dragon too and the fight was great. That's how dragons need to be done.

So far, it's in the 8-9 range for me. What I've experienced of the role-playing seems fine so far especially with how you get to fill in the blanks on your character's history when characters ask them questions but I haven't progressed much in the story to see how choices and decisions play out yet.

My expectations for this game were already low to start so exceeding them isn't saying much however to do it justice I will say it is a borderline great game and once the PC bugs are fixed will be a great game.  I don't agree with the OP about DA:I being better than Skyrim, gameplay wise not story wise.  The fact that Skyrim can be modded up and down and all around pushes it well ahead of DA:I IMO.  But I do like the direction BW went and look forward to see the improve on the current product.

Agreed 110%. I think this game is destrying me.

I just binged over 50+ hours of it during the weekend - and I'm still not done. I think I'm pretty near the end, though, but I can't play again until Friday. And the internet is full of ending spoilers! This is absolute torture.

There's been a couple moments where I've been really frustrated or which have just not resonated with me and in the beginning of the game it's a really slow boil. But after that... This game just completely blindsided me. I was expecting it to be good, but this is just excellent, no way around it. I've had my share of glitches, both the near game-breaking and just plain hilarious variety, but mostly they've not affected my ecperience too much. The new combat system is a bit of a pain, but I guess it'll just take some time to ease into it, and mostly it's great fun. The AI is pretty amazing: I still have no clear idea how Guard actually works, and whenever I take control of a warrior party members I just screw up royally, but the AI keeps building Guard and maintaining it so well I usually only have to concentrate on my mage, and I'm playing on Hard.

I get the plot-related criticism though, because a lot of the plot-points are pretty obvious and it's really easy to put two and two together way too soon if you've played the previous games, but then there are the incredible character moments and the world itself and the politics and everything and I just can't get enough of it. Plus, DA:I is prehaps the very best game discussing religion and faith - both as personal spiritual matters and as organized secular institutions - I've ever played. It's quite amazing how very insightful this game is in the way it handles issues like belief and doubt and faith. The absolutely stellar voice-acting and writing just make it stand out even more.

This game... I have so many feels I might never recover. Oh why do I have to act like a responsibe adult? Ugh. I wish I could just completely disappear into Thedas for a week or two to just explore and talk to my followers and try out different quest outcomes.

Also, on a minor related note: I absolutely love the Astranium puzzles!

I've just used the war table for the first time, and I have to say what an interesting and immersive new feature it is. As if the game wasn't good enough already, but that extra dimension just puts icing on the cake for me. I like the way I suddenly get a message in game saying something like 'Cullen has just reported back from his expedition.' It feels like something is always happening behind the scenes.

Totally! I wish I had the entire week off instead of just Thursday and Friday (holiday here in the States)! Friday I am just going to binge on this! The follower conversations are amazing and it's really a reason for people to leave the Hinterlands at some point. You need to get back to base every now and then and seek out each follower and talk to them. There are some amazing stories and observations that seem to unlock every time I do!

Eh, the fact that you need to mod Skyrim "up and down" for it to be ahead of DA: I would suggest that inherently it's not as good of a game as Inquisition, wouldn't it?

This is the first time In a VERY long time I've considered a AAA game to actually be within that rating.. This game is amazing. Yes there's glitches or issues, but the sheer size and briliance of how they did it is spectacular.

I spent like, what, over 20 hours in the Hinterlands (which I for a white thought was actually spelled Hinderlands, funnily enough), and the only advise I can give is grind it for a while, but get out as fast as you can. Getting stuck to Hinterlands for too long absolutely kills the pacing of the early game, and it is actually one of the reasons I really didn't enjoy my first 20 hours half as much as I've been enjoying the rest of the game. Doing a story or a follower quest every now and again is what keeps the pacing up. You can always come back to the areas later for more grinding and shard-hunting.

And I know! The amount of content is amazing! Particularly the advisor/follower content! The amount of dialogue and story is just amazing.

Also, I just have to confess: I was really sceptical of Cullen. I was not a fan in either DA:O and DA2 (because no, Cullen, we're not Annulling the Circle and yes, Cullen, mages are people too! <_< ) but DA:I has turned me into a complete Cullenite fangirl. I'm serious. I rolled a mage Trevelyan as my first Inquisitrix and I was flirting with everything that moved (bad habit, I guess) but I was planning to go either with Blackwall or Josephine. But then stuff happened and my Inquisitor and Cullen had that one moment and then all of my reasons to romance the Scribe or Ser Beefcake just completely evapolated into thin air. And Cullen's character development is amazing - particularly with a mage romance. I can't remember who wrote Cullen, but a massive amount of kudos to them. And Greg Ellis just hits it right out of the park. It's insane! I went into this game absolute sure I was going to hate his guts... and then this happed. In addition to a large number of other just plain heart-wrenching and painful things and I just can't. It just hurts so good.

Disclamer: I this has been written after a long day, after a weekend-long DA:I binge that made me lose about 5 pounds because I actually forgot to eat while I was playing, fueled by about 4 hours of sleep and way too many cups of coffee. Coherence not guaranteed.

Wow! I don't even have that amount of time in yet! Envious! I've gotten maybe 11-12 hours in so far. About lvl 8 right now and moved out of the Hinterlands at six.

I wasn't a Cullen fan either in the earlier games (or Alistair for that matter) and I am still not feeling him here either. Might be the

Spoiler
that's made me cool to him so far. I'll have to try talking to him some more to see if he will grow on me some more. I am already feeling guilt over who I feel I haven't chatted with enough!

As for romance it's Cassandra all the way and it's a shame they did not add Leiliana in for an option because I am more attracted to her here than previously.

Wow! People actually dislike this awesome RPG with a wonderful world to explore and loveable characters to fight alongside with, and they are even having fun while you don't? Unbelievable ... but true.

yes, omg, yes. i'm loving this game. blown away. i mean...i just have to stop sometimes and take in the atmosphere. it's so friggin gorgeous!

And then I'm always saying, "Oh, what's that over there?" And gallumphing off in some new direction.

I'm loving Rogue class. Feels good.

I have put in way too many hours so far, and just scratching the surface. I'm at the mage vs. templar thing. lol! only! Hours and hours in this game. thankfully I have a holiday coming up cuz all i wanna do is play this game. get back into it when I'm not playing.

I'll be off attending to grown up real life stuff, yet in the not too far back regions of my mind---I'm thinking about DAI. I want to be playing DAI.  I can't wait to get back to play.

So, yeah. Imo, BW totally knocked it outta the park with this game.

Cassandra "disgusted noise" Pentaghast is the second lady of my heart (she and Josie will just have to share) and she is awesome. Leliana as well. Also, I have to really wonder about the people who keep complaning about the women's looks in this game. Both Cass and Josie look amazing - and, more importantly, they are absolutely amazing characters, both of them.

In Cullen's defense, he used to be a Templar and is a bit partial in this matter, but if you are pro-mage he does come around eventually. He's not completely without fault, but  My advise: give him a chance. And even if  you don't see eye to eye with him, try and finish his personal quest line, if for nothing else, then for the sake of the voice-acting and the writing. It is just stellar. Amazing. And I'm starting to run out of superlatives.

Yeah... I might've clocked over 50 hours of gameplay in one weekend (well, extended weekend, but anyway). I didn't sleep much. Umm... whoops?  No regrets!

Oh I'll stick with him. I plan to try and get to know each and every single one of them very well before I wrap this first play through up which may not be until February hahaha (I mean there is just so much to do in this sandbox they've given us)!

Yeah I have seen the posts complaining about the looks of the gals in the game and I don't get it. Cassandra's pretty hot and her fieryness would probably attract me in real life. Josephine is really gorgeous and Viv and Leiliana aren't bad either!

I plan to get up super early this coming weekend to log in as many hours as I can so might be in your condition at the start of next week!  :P

I bought this game on it being made by Bioware & expected it being a good polished PC game

I've not played it for more 10 minutes... as it a horrendous console port.

Never again I buy a Bioware game again.

This game is terrible, a real kick in the face to long standing loyal PC fans.

This game grows on you.

I wasn't too impressed in the beginning, the mmo-esque grind was mildly annoying. But then the main plot grabbed me, threw me into the fire, and made me watch in awe.

So far, I consider Inquisition is the best game in the series.

I'm really enjoying it despite complaints about the Tactical Mode on PC being kind of a disaster.

The world is great to explore, and 90% of the time I forget that I even have a mount because I'm just enjoying hiking through the zones on foot. The characters are all great again after disliking pretty much everybody who wasn't Varric in DA2. The story started off perhaps a bit slower than I'd like, but it's starting to pick up and I'm getting into it.

and my Arcane Warrior has made a return in the Knight Enchanter spec. I'm liking it more than the original Arcane Warrior.

You sound like a over played record. Get over it? So the PC version has a few problems to work out, guess what? so does Console. Enjoy the game for what it is. It's great, if you pull the stick out of your ass for a second and get over your self righteous childish mentality.

We need to let people finish the game properly once or twice and comb through the system to actually get some factual and balanced views on the game. And not just by running through main plot, but going through all the content they can stomach. Right now people are too focused on the good and the bad to see the game as a whole.
