I had been given the chance to go to Val Royauex. Waited to level up a bit before going.

 

It shows as available on my World Map with a cost of 4 power. 

I have 32 power to spend.

 

I click on it, nothing happens.

 

Is there a quest I need to get done before this to  go there?

 

Only quest I have available in Orlais that will activate if I click on it is Investigate the Shards.

My understanding is I need to go to Val Royeaux to start getting th quests to get the companions.

 

I'm getting BORED with only the starting 4.

If you purchased it with power, try viewing your world map (not from the war table); if Val Royeaux is available you can fast travel there. I unlocked it early, but didn't go initially, and had no problem getting there when I wanted.
