Why not have our rank display next to our names?

Especially when in matchmaking, it would be nice to see a players rank or collective level or whatever that number is in the upper right corner of the screen.  Why else does it exist, don't tell me for leaderboards.  I don't think anybody has cared about leaderboards in 20 years.

Its related to challenge points, I assume.  And otherwise, leaderboards.

If its challenge points, then all the more reason to have it be publicly displayed, it lets other players know how much you have played and can give them an idea on how acquainted you are with the game.

Edit:  I don't think its challenge points because my challenge progress is 130 and that number in the right corner is 143...it's definitely tied to rank in some way...I think its your collective level across all characters (including promotions) or something, not really sure how its calculated to be honest.

The points are based on challenges completed as well as every time you prestige a class.

Why, so new players can get kicked out of every match they try to join?

No, but veteran players may not get kicked as soon as they enter a game other than routine with a sub-5 char...

They shouldn't do that anyway. Just because they can survive doesn't mean they're gonna be useful with no powers.

Why bother tracking it if it's not going to any use?  As far as I'm concerned its just another part of your character, why bother keeping it hidden?

Hate the idea. Like someone mentioned, it will be Mass Effect 3 multiplayer all over again, where if you don't have a certain number next to your name, you get booted immediately. And then you spend 15 minutes just trying to get into a game.

Shouldn't really be a problem unless you are attempting higher difficulties in combination with woefully underlevelled characters and a very low "rank".  If you have an underlevelled character with even a moderate rank it would show players that you at least know what you are doing.  If you have a level 2-3 in perilous with a rank indicating that you are basically a fresh player...well, would you be happy to have one of your party members equipped in that way?  If anything this would give some wiggle room for players who are promoting their characters.  The only "downside" is for players attempting things beyond their means.  I don't really see much reason to defend that.

Unfortunately, elitists exist. I was almost kicked from my very first match on the basis that I had a level one kit. On routine. I left before they could get the satisfaction, but anywho, I'm not bothered by the lack of rank display. I can tell people have played for a little bit longer than just a few matches by the presence of titles and banners. On top of this, I can tell that they've played long enough to salvage items if they have a kit other than the first three. Granted, there is platinum and there is a chance of getting other kits from the store chests. Either way, so long as I'm not tanking, I don't care what level people are. I'm sticking to routine for now, so maybe the lack of rank indicator is a non-issue on routine.

However for higher difficulties, I can understand the desire to see how experienced your team members are. I was always a low rank on ME3MP, but I had challenge points which indicated that I wasn't playing my 5th character, so kicks were infrequent. While not against this suggestion, I am okay with how things are now.

A lvl 1 player with a 20+ rare weapon ll be more effective than a lvl 15 with crappy gear...

That being said, i saw too much people trying to get carried in higher difficulties while they are not geared for. So i may be elitist but i am in for the diplay rank. And most importantly, being able to see which weapons your mates are using, like me3.

If people werent dumb and could actually stick to the difficulty that fit their skill/gears, it would be great. I am really talking about threatening/perilous.

When i promote my char and run some routine, i totally welcome newcomers and newbies and try to help them to understand basics.

Rank does not mean anything at all. If a person sticks just to a single character he (or she) will have a much lower rank than someone playing a bit of everything as you'll soon run out of challenges to complete. Once you score 2500 critical hits, 2500 kills with certain weapon/element , 10k XP with given class etc. all you're left with is limited number of kills against enemy fractions, gold from location and really nothing more. And some of these take a long time to complete.

The other thing is, someone with a lot of time, but little skill could still grind through challenges while a skilled player who can only play a few games between work, kids and other duties may have a much lower rank. If you're choice of who to keep in the game was based on the number alone you'd probably end up choosing wrong.

The most stupid comment i heard sofar !

An well equiped Lv 1 Hero does around 5-10 times the dmg of an bad equiped lv 15+ !

Peopel are useless without Powers LOOOOL? Sorry but if had to choose between a LV 1 which does 4 times more dmg with an basic attack as an lv 15+ with a Skill, then i would choose the LV1 for sure !

I cant tell you how much runs i had on a LV1 where peopel tryed to kick me and in the end i always had 60+ kills and iam not talking about Kill stealing !

Have this in Mind :

Lv 1 WITH Good Gear > Lv 20 with bad or normal Gear

When I prestige I just solo host a threatening game with open slots, solo clearing up to about wave 3-4 until some people end up joining and sticking around.

Many of the items you will eventually get make threatening pretty faceroll with level 1 abilities, I'd say the hardest level 1 soloers for me are necromancer/assassin/alchemist.

It's nice because people don't get offended, they can rejoin another game if they don't want to be in a game with a level 1, and if they don't care (or understand that a level 1 with 2 Life on kill rings and a 23 unique weapon etc can clear threatening to the boss wave) they get some free exp if they so desire.

Level 1 keeper is useful in perilous.

Because in the last third of the ME3 mutltiplayer's lifespan you cockhagglers all started kicking every new player.

This will just feed on the elitist attitude.

I've had several people trying to kick out level 1 players on Routine games.

Imagine what will happen if that said level 1 player has number 1 on his prestige since he just started multiplayer.

Elitism feeds idiotic behaviour. Want to have an e-peen? Play an MMO and stand in a place for hours where there's lots of activity.

As someone who tends to "Power level" my friends by carrying their level 1's on threatening I am not for showing peoples numbers. I don't think it means anything really, you cannot judge someones knowledge of a game or what kind of gear they have because you saw one stupid number.

Can't we all just get along? If you want to run perilous with a good group then make some friends or teach some new players and become friends. Then you know you have a solid group for the higher difficulty.

The game is painful with fresh level 1's in routine. Last Saturday and Sunday I was playing routines to level up my low levels, and I met a crapload of fresh players. I went ahead and played about half a dozen, and it was really harder than just soloing routine, especially with my keeper, because I had to constantly deal with enemies running willy nilly, teammates running willy nilly, and reviving teammates and dealing with enemies becoming stronger when they fall. It got so bad that it was quite literally more challenging and time-consuming than just being in an average pug perilous team. Sadly, DA3MP really punishes new players and people who choose to group with them by giving new players super crap weapons and very low DPS/contribution to the team due to only having two unupgraded abilities, and the issue is compounded by the new players having to learn how to optimally deal with the different mobs and maps.

In comparison, in ME3MP, the worst that a new player's weapons could be is about 50% the DPS of a fully upgraded player's weapons, and in DA3MP, a new player's weapons would be about 5x worse, and the learning curve is much higher than a FPS. Many of the new ME3MP players already understand the concept of hiding behind a wall and waiting for mobs to come at you and shoot their heads off, but it can take people a long time to figure out the demon commander's tactics. It is such a huge facepalm with you keep telling your team on the mic to stay away from the corner you are tanking the demon commander at, and all three of them decide to move in closer and closer and closer and get knocked out because they don't know what's going on. And yes, that did happen to me when I decided to team with a bunch of newbies, after they ignored my suggestion on microphone that we NOT fight in the middle of the map and that we go back to the entrance.

In other words, if someone doesn't want to group with a fresh player or one who has only a few hours or a few dozen hours of play under his belt, HE IS GOING TO FIND A WAY, because of how little new players are able to contribute to the team not just in terms of experience but in technical ability to contribute to the team. So its my opinion that having ranks will do significantly less harm than good, because right now what people have to go by is simply the title, portrait, banner, class, and level of the character, which will result in people who choose not to get fancy title/portrait/banner, the "right" class, or an acceptable level, to be automatically assumed to be a nub, whereas if he had a high rank accompanying such information, he is less likely to be kicked.

As for the argument that a level 1 with a super good weapon could be very good despite rank, I have to say, player experience and class level are more important in this game. If I see a level 1 with 50-100+ rank, I know that he will probably have at least a level 10-15 weapon, and has enough experience to understand the gist of the game. If I see a level 1 with rank 1-10, even if he has a level 20+ unique, he is probably the kind of person who runs away from a small spider and thinks it is good strategy.

I totally second that

I and 2 friends used to play together ,found a fourth one to communicate with and things are way better like that mostly in perilous

Random keeper who doesn't play barriers for support are a nighmare ( I saw some of them at high lvl too )

But I agree skill has nothing to do with rank in this game

I'm not sure what to make of this distinction. On one hand, I find it hilarious and love it. On the other, I have no idea what it means. Are these people trying to bring down the price of cocks? Please elucidate.

I'm def not good for showing rank. One it doesn't show skill it has to do with who has more time to play multiplayer. Two i can imagine people booting people all the time. I've been in lobby's already on routine and people on the xbone voting to kick a lvl one. IReally? It's routine imagine threatening or perilous with rank showing new players would have a bad bad time.

Anyone is welcome in my games, as long as you have a mic and speak like a well educated adult.
