Theres a way to play on the middle dificult or higher with melee withou using dwarf? I've reached level 17 with a reaver with all rare acessories a unic chest and a good dps. But without a healer in the party giving me shield all the time i die very fast! The lifesteal from her skills is not enough to keep you alive in higher dificult levels. And the armor crafting sistem is a joke! A unic chest piece that gives only a little more armor (+10 from the rare that i've got earlier), no bonus from magic damage, physical damage, nothing!

After dying a lot, i've decided to create a Qunari. And its the same crap! Cant play in other dificulties without one or two healers, because they dont have enough armor or lifesteal!

And my question is, there's a way to play with melee in higher levels?

Have a keeper on your team who knows where and when to cast barrier. Stay behind your tank and give him a few seconds to aggro the mobs. Don't go berserk forget situational awareness. Run back screaming behind your tank like a girl whenever archers or other ranged mobs target you.

Ive only put time in on the reaver, so ill comment there.

Generate guard when you are not in an all out brawl.  That way you have a buffer to protect you as you close the gap against distance units.

Once you get down to half health, (if in a brawl use a cc if available first) use rampage.  Rampage is always your primary healing source, with devour being a secondary for when you need a quick heal and rampage is on cooldown.

Dont run into all the enemy forces by yourself.  If you really need to engage enemies and you are alone though, try to retreat/relocate yourself to a chokepoint.  Try your best to hide behind the wall, then hit all the enemies at once.  With a decent weapon and rampage on, you should survive, or at the very least greatly hurt the entire force.

If you see an enemy stealth unit who assassinates go invis and you loose track of him, ring of pain can make him more visible.

My reaver doesn't have unique armor and tears up threatening/perilous, even without a keeper.

I mean, having a keeper is the BEST option, but if you don't...

Have you archers/mages initiate the pull with ranged aoe, then hide behind a wall or pillar.

That's when you advance forward, and Dragon rage every single mob to death before rampage ends.

That's what I was doing last night with me (reaver with axe that makes me take more damage), 2 archers, and an elementalist (without barrier)

We even killed demon commander.

I had a similar problem with Reaver--specifically that I was golden as long as Rampage was up and my life was hell when it was on cooldown.  I promoted and respecced to a crit-oriented build with the Horn ability to panic mobs and autocrit for more cooldown.  Seems to be working better, but can't be sure yet.  Legionnaire, on the other hand, seems absolutely amazing for higher difficulties.  Having ridiculous uptime on invulnerability that gives you guard and two AoE taunts is just as good as it sounds.

With the Qunari I tend to rush the archers, mages, assassins and when they are knock down i use my warhorn to panicked them which gives me time to spam my offensive moves. After that I tend to run back to the backline on my team

Katari with Mighty Blow, Charge, Roll and Block handles Threatening easily at least with my weapon.

Except for mass ranged demons.

What you do is charge directly at the enemy, mighty blow, and roll out of enemy attacks and to get a new angle for a good charge.  Enemies pinballing everywhere and their champions flattened.  With Block he can even tank a little bit

Arcane warrior rapes demons except for the boss.  Mine can solo the entire wave 5 spawn on Threatening

Get one of your ranged party members to lure them around a corner and go crazy with AoE. You only really need to worry about archers and luring keeps them at the end of your blade very nicely.

This is how you win Perilous

Get one, or better yet, two heal on kill rings and you're golden. With the Katari, never stop moving, try to hit and run as much as possible with Charge + Mighty Blow combo. With Reaver, just hide in the back with the mages and archers to deal with stray/assassin, only ever charge into the fray when you have Rampage up. As for Arcane Warrior, they can just face tank everything even in Perilous. Templar and Legionnaire really shouldn't have issue as long as you learn to attack between your active guard to refill stamina.

You allready realized that some classes aren't really useful at higher lvl if you don't have the right gear.
For example my Aw can solo threatening pretty easy however on the highest difficulty i really have troubles.

The best 2 classes for the highest difficulty are Ele and Keeper.

For melee most important thing if warrior is learn how to generate guard, this is a damage shield against attacks.

Also knowing when to enter the fray is important basically don't rush into the middle of tons of mobs unless you know you can kill them fast enough. IE on Qunari Charge (knockdown weak mobs)-> the knockdown strike (extra damage to those already knocked down) is decent versus small groups of basics.

Really it depends on both your skills and equipment.

Let someone else agro, wait, and sweep around the back and work your way to the melee enemies. Reavers should be one/two shooting any ranged enemy, and enemies don't switch targets unless they're getting hit. Rogues can just cloak and run through, but as Reaver you need to be patient. Wait for Barriers or the tank or both ideally.

Alternatively, If there is a corner nearby (orlais has lots) you can agro then Los the enemies, which stacks them up wonderfully.

Gear, situational awareness, kiting and dodging(it takes practice but from only playing tanks I/you can get good enough so that you can walk dodge most attacks which helps when your stamina is down), and managing cool down times.

Get good in all those and you will be fine. I played a perilous with a level 10 katari and he did as well as the higher leveled mages and tanks.

Like others have said dont rush. Line of sight pulls. Dont blow cds all at once. Reaver is amazing on pperilous

Working with a team that does good CC makes it easier. I always try to drop AoE's on the melee units if I am using a ranged character. I used my arcane warrior last night with my friends using the katari and assassin and had a lot of fun. I'd pull them all in with pull of the abyss and they'd murder them, any straggler groups I saw would get hit with veildstrike and we'd deal with it later.

Just don't get stabbed, chopped, smashed, pierced, burned, frozen, electrocuted, magicked or thrown to death.

I take no offense from anything people say on the internet.  It's just text from a random person and means nothing. TBH I would have preferred those posts stayed up.  They were valid and had a lot of merit....

The problem is that the ranged enemies kill me with 2 to 3 hits, so if they focus me i dont even can reach then before attacking! I think that melee classes need some improvements on ranged defense, just a little bit more so we can play on perilous without being necessary an elementalist or keeper in the party!

I'd try to keep an eye out for ranged defense mods for your armor then.  That or boosts to cunning, which should grant some ranged defense as well.

As a ton of people have already mentioned, the best tactic for ranged units is to make them run to you.  Move behind a wall/pillar/whatever to break their line of sight.  They'll run closer to attack.  Once they run around the object you're hiding behind, they'll be in melee range.  The other side of this tactic is that you need to deal enough damage to kill them quickly once they're in range.
