Some basic impressions after playing on PC for a few days. Some of these are known and probably being patched:
- Stuttering / lag in cut scenes made the opening unplayable. I fixed it by dropping the texture quality from highest down to "Ultra." The 60fps fix seemed to make cutscenes move in slow mo like the Matrix.
- Mouse/Keyboard controls are god awful. I just finished a DAO playthrough. Not sure why they didn't match that.
- The Character and Inventory screens are confusing or not very user friendly. Why do I have to scroll so much? DA2 did these screens SO MUCH BETTER. It is hard to tell what abilities I have highlighted or not in DAI.
- mouse is buggy when selecting the dialog wheel. Some times it won't tell you the "emotion" you are conveying when you highlight an option
- Why even show the attribute screen if you can't update them?
- Tactical view does not zoom out far enough to be effective. M/K controls are difficult as well. Not sure why they didn't just mimic DAO, which got it right
- Sometimes it is difficult to tell what is going on in battles with all the effects flying around. Probably just need to adjust. For some reason, I did not have that issue with DAO or DA2.
- Horses are somewhat useless.
On the flip side, the game fun as hell. Much better than DA2, much better than Skyrim. Love the characters, story, dialog, etc, so far. Like the war table missions. Like the open world exploring. Graphics are fantastic on Ultra. Having a blast in spite of the issues.
