Anyone having problem on line 9 of the quest (light the torches) and you are doing it right . It's because the torches don't reset if you mess it up . You need to leave the emerald graves (or just travel to a camp near? i didnt try it) and come back to reset the torches.

The torches need to be lit

 

direction A: 4 times

direction b 2 times

direction c 3 times.

 

 

NOT torch 4, then torch 2 then torch 3, but torch in corner X= 4times, then torch in corner y= 2 times, then torch in cormer Z= 3 times

 

that should do it.

At first i started with the wrong corner, but i had no time regards to resets, no need to exit the map, just proceed to next corner and start again.

If you go to game-maps.com and look for DA:I there should be a map explaining how to do this. Read the related codex entry and it had to do with the quest.

Guys after defeating the demon at the end, I just so happened to walk to Elgar'nan Bastion and I spotted a box just like the rest in the quest that contained loot. It's directly south of the bastion outside walls, right next to a tree. I'm thinking it appeared because of the completion of this quest. Anyone confirm this?

Gonna check it out. I was just thinking there was more to this quest. and just signed on to ask if anyone else thought that:

 

1) List of clues is much longer than the four or five used.

2) The end of the quest so far is at "Southfinger Tower". This tower is at the Northeast of the map and there are no other towers (eg. a North tower). This may relate to 3) below.

3) clue 14 is "An upward pointing finger, there your heart lies". That could mean heart as in treasure lies there or that your heart is lieing to you in telling you the quest is at an end.

4) "Treasure" is a monster (Desire Demon). May relate to 3) in a way I cant explain.

5) Line 18 or 19 mentions a true path or something.

 

Edit 6) I did the math wrong originally, but there may be a pattern in the line numbers in the Parsons notebook.

Line sequence so far:  

                   1

                 12 (add 11 to 1)

                   3

                   9  (12 minus 3 equals 9)

                 20 (add 11 to 9)

                 14

                    6 (maybe)

 

If you add 11 to 6 this sends you to line 17 which includes the line about truth. Havent found anything but l plan to keep poking around.

 

Oddly, the Codex entry for the Notebook is 69 under Letters and Notes. This may have been changed since the original release of the game.

 

Maybe Bioware is just trolling us.

Wait wait wait....hold the phone....I need to go to certain locations to find some torches to light torches to light the rooms torches? I swear this was a vellfire thing but needed to find a vellfire spot...*scratches head*.

This is quite possibly the most annoying thing in the entire game. Hands down. I also looted two entire *gasp* frost essences from 'Treasure'. I think I'm gonna be skipping this one in any further playthroughs... ><
