Also, the music is perfect! Really sets a great mood for the different areas.

Yes! I love this game! The sheer size is breathtaking. It's so vast. I've played it through once now, and haven't even unlocked half of the regions because I concentrated on completing the story quickly. The level design is gorgeous, every spot on the map is unique and oh, it's so beautiful. The soundtrack is outstanding as well.

For such a big game, it feels quite polished too - I've played on the PS4 and only encountered a couple of bugs mostly related to cutscenes, but with just a bit of waiting they usually fixed itself. Usually, open world games have a lot more issues, so I'm really impressed. Maybe I've been lucky, considering the threads here, and when I start exploring more I'm sure I'll encounter more bugs, but it's still very polished in comparison (yes Skyrim, looking at you).

The whole game just feels like a work of love. I also love the little details and how reactive it is - how everyone in the world discusses what's going on, how everyone then reacts to what you already did, how all the regions change depending on what quests you solved. You can just stand there for ages and listen to all the people talk or come back to a region and find it changed by your actions.

The combat is very actiony and I can understand when people wanting a real tactical game like Divinity: Original Sin or even DA:O are disappointed - it took me a while to get into it as well, but now the combat flows and is fun. The game takes a while to get going, its only flaw being that it doesn't shove you out of the Hinterlands by force. As soon as you finish the first "Act" (you'll know when you did) it really gets going.

I love how there are a lot of strong female characters - I played as a female character and this meant that at a lot of points in the game 4 female characters determined what was going on. [Digression: yesterday my husband wanted to watch a movie for a change so I stopped playing DA:I to join him. The characters on screen were almost all male with the only exception being the prostitutes and "the mother", who all had no agency anyway. It was just your usual action movie fare, but after being immersed in DA:I for hours, it really felt odd to me at first.]

I love (almost all of) the companions, with Dorian being the most awesomest of all mostly because of his voice actor I think. I want to cuddle him. Why can't I hug him? As always the voice work is brilliant. Also: Blackwall. Incredible. Oh and the voice of the main antagonist. :o

What impressed me most, though, is the way that a lot of loose threads from DA:O, DA2 and the books were brought together and solved/explained. No spoilers here but in almost every cutscene of the main storyline something happened that related to past events that left me stunned in a good way (for everyone not yet done with the game: stay for the post-credit scene! I might have squeed). I almost felt like this was a game done for the fans first because I imagine that for people who didn't play the previous games or haven't read the books a lot of things just won't have as much emotional impact or might even feel a bit "deus-ex-machina" even though these characters were built up for years now.

The game is not perfect, there are games that do animations better, there are games that do the quest flow better, that do puzzles better and there are games that do combat better, but this game has it all in one package, the story, the characters, the look, the size, the music.

And I haven't even touched the multiplayer yet.

Sigh, I realize I'm gushing even though I'm usually quite critical of things but this is obviously a very rare gem of a game and I wanted to thank all at BioWare for creating it.

Thank you.

Very well said, I agree for such a large game it is pretty polished. I haven't enjoyed a game this much in ages! I can get totally sucked in when I play, it's very immersive :-)

Yup I have played both games multiple times. Enjoyed them both for different reasons, but I am enjoying DAI more. I know I am crapping on about how good it is, but I really am impressed with this game
