Kotaku has a small article discussing future DLC for Dragon Age: kotaku.com/5381874/two-years-worth-of-dragon-age-dlc-is-planned

Mark Darrah:
We have plans that stretch out for basically two years. And it's going to be everything from really small stuff like item packs up to larger quests that might last an hour or two up to even fully fledged expansion packs. Really it's a broad long term support plan for the game.

Good stuff. They've always talked about their huge DLC plan that they have in place for DA:O.

The "Darrah added that BioWare might release a toolset for PC modders, the only piece of content that wouldn't be supported by all versions." line in the article is rather misleading, though.

It´s surely good to know, that we will have longtime support and new motivations. I also trust them to bring good DLC, instead of some other games.. Streetfighter *cough*

Yeah I was confused with that statement. Though still interesting that they are looking into bringing mod content to consoles. Even though personally I am getting it for the PC.

I am looking forward to this but especially the two extremes, nice little item packs and huge expansions

Definitely nice to hear about the possibility for mods on the consoles. I do not care if they have 2 years worth of DLC, if they only had one year and the game came out tomorrow I would be happy. Of course once the game is out I may well want it to have 2+ years of DLC.

agree. I'm a PC gamer and I am gonna play this game on the PC, but hopefully those who play this game on consoles can have the ability to experience some mods also.:D

I'd honestly take this with a pinch of salt.

Promises are promises and if they can deliver that's all swell and good, but if they fall through, we're just going to get bent out of shape for something that was not to be, but ultimately doesn't really affect the game.

Just a little thing to keep in mind is to be pleased with what they are already giving and don't expect more, but be pleased when it does come.

I must say I love Bioware games, in fact MASS EFFECT is my favorite game in recent memory, but one area i think needs improvement is the DLC content.  Ive played both Mass Effeect ones and Both current Dragon Age ones, and compared to any other games DLC (Fallout and Borderlands to name a few examples) the value for the money is seriously lacking.  Other DLC comes for around 10 dollars and has at least 4 hours of gameplay in most cases and up to 10 hours, the four Ive played give around 1 hour.  The quality of the content is not the issue here, i loved the asteriod from mass effect, the keep from dragon age, and the golem character. I feel though that the little bit of playtime should place these at about a 3 dollar expansion compared to other top companies, the golem one maybe 5 if it really takes alot of extra effort to incorporate it into the game.  I'll be wary to put money into these expansions in the future, and i would like to know if alot of others share or disagree with my opinion.  One final note if companies start charging significant money for a little thingy that grants you an uber weapon or armor, it will explode into something like the avatar marketplace on xbox360, and the capitalist pranks will tarnish the reputations of Brilliant top tier gamecompanies, which i believe will push todays very educated consumer to the companies that dont participate.  Sorry if i soapboxed a bit and id like to reiterate i love Bioware games the main games are awesome and definately worth the dough

Shale is a tough issue. It came with the game, so technically it's free for new buyers. If it were sold separately, I'd pay 10 bucks for it. Shale's experience extends far beyond the quests.

Warden's keep was a bit of a disappointment, though... I wouldn't be nearly as disappointed if they allowed you to spice up the keep and stay in it. But as it stands, there really is nothing more than the quest and items you get. Nice, but nothing truly lasting.

Return to Ostagar is really darn cheap, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get my money's worth. I mean, I would trade a footlong subway sandwich for it :P

So long as there's a variety of DLC, I'm reasonably satisfied; assuming, of course, that we receive at least one significant expansion pack, whether it's an isolated tale that requires you to create a new protagonist or ties in directly to the main campaign. My personal request would be one grueling DLC designed solely for the most hardened entourage of adventurers, especially if it's a vast, labyrinthine dungeon - I am so all about that sort of thing. The rewards needn't be overpowered, either, and bonus points for a unique 'boss' creature. I just felt the dungeons in DA:O were somewhat...tame, as it were, albeit entertaining.

Come now, BioWare, we're cool, right? Indulge me, if you would be so kind. <3

well what are they gonna charge for an hour or two entertainment? compared to the game that last at least 75-100 hours vs a 1-2 hour modification?

"larger quests that might last an hour or two up to even fully fledged expansion packs."

If they call a quest that MIGHT last an hour a large quest, please, shoot the dlc team.

I don't trust anything they say, I do hope they can/will deliver one or two great big expansions tho.

I really hope they wont destroy the game with dlc's more than they have.

I think people need to keep in mind that the DLC coming down the pipe is not going to be made for everyone. Meaning that some of the DLC that will be offered isn't going to appeal to the greatest possible audience. I have seen several Bioware developer posts on how that if you like what has been offered that is great, but they know that other will not like or purchase the same. Its all about creating a specialty market in which they serve small bit size content for a certain market group, along with the greater content for the mass market.

I'm just sick of people saying that Shale being content-moved-to-DLC is the smoking gun that all DLC is moved content.

I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of DLC for RPGs. I loved fallout 3 but I'm not getting any of the DLC stuff because what I really liked about the game was the long story line and being immersed in a world while working towards goals. It seems like the DLC is just tiny little unrelated side stories. I would be much more interested in a traditional expansion pack.

I really hope DA:O DLC isn't all warden's peak. I don't know how they could do a continuation of the story like traditional expansions do. It would be difficult but possible with the multiple endings. I guess one possibility would be having your character go to the deep roads as old wardens do.

After reading the full interview I just have to say I'm just glad that they are "working with a company to potentially get swords made". I mean I could live with or without quality DLC just so long as I get to hold a replica of a Dragon Age sword as I'm playing the game one-handed /sarcasm

I think I am going to take Penny-Arcades advise and just wait until a bunch of DLC is done for this game, and then revisit it for another play-through. Not a huge fan of a HR here a HR there for this game.
