Why didn't BioWare just remove the character-customisation completely?

Why not use something more akin to DAO customizer?

Maybe because in Mass Effect your character doesn't stare like a retard all the time but actually has a voice, facial expressions and lipsync.

You do know that you can change your squad members facial style with the mod tools in DA:O right?  It doesn't stop them from having dialogue, lip sync and proper expressions, just saying.

all I ask is for a skin details like "Smooth or rugged" so we can make younger looking characters or more Renegade looking.

I don't think there's anything errant about the customizatin as it is....many others aren't up in arms about it. I dont see many ppl complaining on the boards. Someone call the waaaaambulence, LOL

No one liked the original CC in ME1? Really? Nice of you to inform me of my own dislike for something that I thought was just fine for 2 years. I'm guessing they didn't change it much due to the fact that files from the original game had to work with it?

We can all agree though that if they made the CC in ME3 like this www.youtube.com/watch (minus the clothes of course) we'd all be lauding Bioware as the best thing since sliced bread

because removing it would be stupid.

I actually didn't find it too hard to make relatively unique male Shepards that I liked the look of in ME1. Females were another story, though.

While I agree it would be nice if more had been done w/ the initial Create A Shepard (more decent looking hairstyles would have made the biggest difference to me), they did seem to put some good time and thought into visual customization of your armor/casual wear.

I'm still wondering why they couldn't put a proper rotate on the character model, instead of reusing that stupid, look up, look left crap from ME1, where we ended up with characters that looked nothing like we expect once we had them in game.

Yes, they should of removed something you didn't like for the sake of the other people that did.

That logic is infallible.

I think most would agree that the Character Creation/Customization tools have room for Improvement (Actually quite a bit of it). That is not saying it Sucks (gods I hate that term with a burning passion). Simply saying that while it is fine as it is, failing to improve it while improving so many other things makes it stand out.

Here is a thought, maybe you can have a texture pack to improve choices in CC be a Patch/DLC/Cereberus Download sometime soon.

What, you mean like they did with the Elevators, the Mako, Medi-Gel, passive cooling, weapon/armour mods and the ability to change our team mates armour to match our own?

Nah, why should they take into account what 'some' of the gamers want and totally ignore all the rest.

To people complaining about the character creator: It doesn't suck, you suck at it.

- Please show us your custom Shepard if you're not too much of a coward. And little has to do with THE OUTCOME, but the features and limitations.

I have a suspicion that the reason our character creator hasn't changed very much has to do with the fact that we were importing our Shepard's looks from ME1.

It's possible that it was difficult enough to translate every facial feature and increase the resolution of each to the point where it wasn't possible to add many new things to the creator.

While it wasn't as robust as the character creator in some games, such as Sims 3, it had merits that such games don't, such as the ability to create a character with a high degree of verisimilitude and realism.

When compared to other western RPGs such as Oblivion or Fallout 3, Mass Effect's character creator truly shines in its ease of use and elegance.

I think the character customization screen should start with a default Shep template. If you like default Shep then you continue, or you can change the style from there.
