Everytime I try to go upgrade a weapon or armor, they ALWAYS says in red letters "There are no upgrades for this item" or something like that.

 

So, well, how do I get them or where do I get upgrades?

You either buy them or craft them. I prefer to craft but it isn't always easy to find the merchant selling the piece you need.

Well, how do I craft them? I am still in Haven and all I see are Upgrade weapon/armor and craft weapon/armor stations at the Smith.

vendors sell recipes for haft/pommel/blade. Theres one in val royeux, that has some good starting ones

When I go to craft Weapons and Armor, all I can do is just craft a set of armor or a weapon item. Nowhere in there does it allow me to craft an upgrade.

Say you want to craft a staff - you go to craft weapon - staff -- the first choices are the staff options, as you scroll down you get to the upgrade parts. If you have none you either haven't looted or bought any schematics yet

What if I just want to modify/upgrade a staff? You know, do stuff like change the type of hilt and stat upgrades like "Constitution +3"?

Well thats what I just said, the weapon parts are in the same list as the full weapon in the craft weapon station. Once you complete a part (if you have any schematics) then you go to modify weapon and select the weapon and use the upgrade.
