You can not tell me that DAO's ratio of fetch quest to good side quest was anywhere close to how bad DAI's is.
DA O is a much smaller game so naturally it'd have less fetch quests than an open world game.

Open world is not to blame for poor quality quests. Even Bethesda gets sidequests right even if they're a buggy mess. It's lazy development along with potentially being rushed by their publisher. But even so, quality over quantity. There's no excuse to wrap such a short main story in hundreds of low quality filler content. Collect 10 ram meat is not good enough.

Ok let's compare it to Skyrim then. Skyrim's side quests were a million times better, more detailed, and all had effort put into them, and I will go into more detail if you need me to.
Open world in DA needs a LOT of work if it wants to be anywhere near passable. Sorry but it's the truth. The main plot of this game is great, but the open world flops.

I'm guessing you never made it past the 10 ram meats based on that that is the only example I have heard you talk about. People need to eat. Is it really that surprising that your regime needs to kill to survive? I wouldn't think so, but that's just me.
mm dont know about you but i found capturing keeps pretty fun or the puzzles in those hidden dungeons , ah takes me back, clearly Bioware has tried to add an old school touch to this game but its sadly lost on many.
Actually it appears to be lost on some on this forum. The other places I have been seem to get it and are going about enjoying the game.

Yea because 90% of the quests are about collecting rams right ? if you played the game more and complained less on the forum you would notice there are actually some good side quests in this game , yes there are some bad ones but point me to an open game that doesnt have those.
Now if you say that they should have included more meaningful sidequests i'd agree but lets not act as if 90% of them are collecting ram meats ( thats 1 quest only and as bad as it is it plays a good part in shaping your inquisition in that area ).

of course Skyrim would have better sidequests in general than DA I considering its main story is trash , the latter actually has a damn good story , mixed with some very good sidequests and some bad ones ( or lot of bad ones depending on who you ask ).
There are very very few good side quests in this game. Play Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim and then play DAI and the difference is very clear.
And to the people running around this forum proclaiming there is something inherently wrong with voicing criticism, we're on the BSN, fighting and complaining is the point.

I don't see how good main story and good side quests are mutually exclusive.
That's a hilarious thought, considering the fact that one of the main selling points of this game is a massive website dedicated to uploading the choices you made in past dragon age games.reviving this thread to tell people that while DAO is great, please move forward and focus on the good of DAI instead of living in past glory.

Yea i have noticed it as well , to be honest it wouldnt have mattered how much work Bioware put into the sidequests , people here would have complained as long as this game didnt follow the same formula as DA O , dont fear change people embrace it :-)

How about play DA:O, DA:2 and then play DA:I? If any of the old schools heard you talk so blatantly negative about DA:I they might not approve.

I have played all three plus Arena and Daggerfall. TES went downhill after Morrowind (IMHO). The main story in both Oblivion and Skyrim are not that good. The side quests are most definitely a mixed bag. I have enjoyed playing DAI far more than either Skyrim or Oblivion
lol this type of comment always cracks me up. Some people would believe that this whole bastardization of the DA franchise is for artistic's sake, that this is the future of RPG, that everyone who hates it is either blinded by nostalgia or a whiner or toxic, even though it's beyond transparent that Bioware is simply trying to make DA more playable with a controller. I have no problem with this. If it's going to bring more fans into the franchise then by all means let's go for it. But so far it doesn't work. DA2 combat is fun to play but it's not tactical. DAi combat is just downright bizarre and slow. It's neither actiony nor tactical. And those are just the combat. If you're ruining my favorite franchise, you're goddamn right I'm gonna complain.
If people just hate changes for the sake of it, then how come ME2 was so well-received? And dont give me that crap about how there were complaints about it too. Of course there were. There will always be some complaint about everything. But the vast majority of existing fans accepted it because the changes worked.

What? I like the game's story main story, gameplay, and enough companions to keep me interested. Side quests are not required for me to enjoy a game, however, DAI requires them to play the main story due to the power mechanic, so I am extra exposed to how awful the side quests are.
I'm not afraid of change, I've come around strongly on DA2 and actually really enjoy it. And I enjoy DAI too. But I have a BIG problem with how it handles Open world and side quests, and it seems the problem is that some people on the BSN fear people making criticisms about their new baby. Maybe embrace constructive criticism

mm i disagree but this will likely go back and forth all day so lets just agree to disagree.

I don't understand what you are even saying. I did exactly this. before DAI came out I did a run through of Origins and DA2 so I could have a new save ready to go. I'm allowed to voice concerns, bite me.

What exactly tells that the majority isnt receiving DA I well ? do you know something we dont ?

Whie i dont agree that the sidequests are as bad as you make them (some are but not all ) i do agree that they could have been better , and hopefully we get some good ones with the contents Bioware promised.

You make a good point. The only discrepancy I would make is that popular opinion does not always mean it is the best opinion.

DAI is also being well received in other quarters. In fact the most negativity I have seen is on this forum. But then I also was here for all the negativity for DAO when posters were looking for spiritual successor to BG. You know what, DAI finally delivered on that expectation IMHO. But YMMV.

I'm pretty sure if I bit you, you wouldn't like that. Lets just say you would rather say bad things about the game then good things, ok?
What exactly tells that the majority isnt receiving DA I well ? do you know something we dont ?
That's a joke right? umm I dunno, how about this http://www.metacriti...on/user-reviews
If it is so well received, then these threads who complain about the people who complain about DAi wouldnt exist.
the only place that I see DAI being so ridiculously trashed is here and Metacritic. and u can tell it is the same old few people, whining about ME3 and DA2 and blasting EA.

Lets let that sink in.
