Alright, so at Halamshiral we get to decide who rules Orlais: Celene, Gaspard, or Briala (through Gaspard). I'm only wondering who you sided with and your reasoning for it. I also want to know what you all think would be considered the most "good" choice here.

If you side with Celene, there's stability for Orlais. This leads in the least amount of casualties and is the most stable transition for Orlais. No viva la revolution here, Celene isn't looking to change the world

If you side with Gaspard, you get a military leader at your side. Not only that, but presumably Gaspard wants to change things, whether for good or ill.

If you put Briala in power, she will change things for the better for the elves, but there's no telling how this will affect the rest of Orlais.

I didn't read the masked empire, so I'm missing crucial context in regards to this decision. I just want to hear some thoughts from you all.

I tried not to side with anyone and just stop the assassination, in the end it seems like the game defaulted on Celene and Gaspard got exile. No idea what happened with Briala..

To be honest this pt is turning out in no way I expected it to. I play a Dalish Mage and still conscripted the mages and didn't try too hard to side with Biala either, in the end I care more about stopping Corypheus and Orlais suddenly being ruled by a elf seemed like it would destabalize everything.

I feel the same way. I went in thinking I would change the world, but I'm ending up going for just stopping the bad guy, nothing else really matters in comparison

I think I've become more of a supporter of diplomatic change and nothing radical. I try to support Cassandra for the divine because she has a good idea of how it could work. Up and rolling everything over will just get the rest revolting.

I'm a big fan of Celene so I didn't let her die, she stayed ruler. I was able to use some things I found on Gaspard to help Briala, but it only got her a pardon + exile. Is there more that can be done for her there?

What are the possible outcomes of the situation?

Briala. My Inquisitor wanted military strength to help in the war effort + to make things better for the elves.

Sorry Celene. :'C

I tried all of them out. You can put Briala in charge, basically using Gaspard as a figurehead puppet. Or you can put Gaspard in charge. Either one of those requires the assassination of Celene to be successful. You can avoid the boss fight with the Grand Duchess by confronting her in the ball room, but fighting her gives you much more xp. However, confronting her definitely gave me a sherlock holmes vibe. In the end I went with the xp.

Isnt there an option where you leave all 3 alive and in a position of agreement?

There was a guy in the Gaspard thread that said you needed to find  info on all 3 and have +80 court approval. That way you can arrest the Duchess and basically force all 3 possible rulers to come to an agreement, at the risk of the Inquisitor letting all their dirty laundry come out.

I've heard that it's possible to reunite Celene and Briala somehow, but despite playing through the mission several times to explore all the options, I can't seem to find this. Is it actually possible to reconcile them in a way that benefits Briala (and by extension, the elves of Orlais)? Or was what I heard of simply wrong?

Thats likely the easiest as a human. Possibly only doable as a human. Since other races take a huge hit in court approval right from the start.

I'd like to see a video of this. I've replayed the quest a couple of times now trying to get this result but I haven't managed.

Playing as an elf though, but I have 100 court approval.

Briala through Gaspard.

Best for the city elves and honestly it made me smile.

I managed to get the Belle of the Ball achievement as a dalish elf. It was only a 10 point hit and you can make that up by gathering secrets or being fashionably late to the bell.

You might be right, my friend swears hes done it, he plays Human Noble and said that outcome is basically means The Inquisition wins at "The Game".

I am actually quite looking fowarding to try that outcome myself.

Interesting. I also hear that which leader you pick helps decide who will be Divine.

Oooh that would explain that.

How much of a point hit do Qunari take? I'd imagine it'd be more than 10.

I do not care who rules. Knowing that it is possible to do "all three" might make it easier for my Qunari Reaver Inquisitor.

Anyone know how to reunite Briala and Celene? Poor Briala...

I don't think they actually reunite. More like they are forced to work together because you blackmail them into it. This would ensure that there are no elven assassins gunning for Celene at the end which would lead to a more stable empire.

Aye, all three means they are all at the mercy of the Inquisitor to maintain their position of power, a Qunquisitor would really benefit from that :D

I mean, making Orlay the Inquisition's B*tch? Now i really need to try this outcome.

Is Briala really sending elven assassins to kill Celene? Wow...

I read in the Wicked Hearts mission description on the war table that elves are destabilizing both Celene's and Gaspard's forces.

I honestly find the Orlais politics drama way more interesting than this Elder One stuff.

I might make her the biggest Contradiction of all: A Qunari Reaver who wants absolutely nothing to do with the Qun, and worships the maker instead of demons or dragons or whatever, and Romancing Sera.

I got put to 20 right when I walked towards the ball :(

You really need to work your ass off as a qunari.
