Not really, if shes romancing Sera she is probably just as crazy. Crazy explains a lot. :P

Lol, true, but I think it is a contradiction because she will despise being the Herald of Andraste, and not even consider herself that.

I made the mistake of not finding the blackmail against Celene. I ended up having Gaspard executed, Florianne arrested and exposed, and Briala pardoned and exiled. Gonna get it right next time

LMAO!! Do you see Celene's reaction when you exile Briala?

Where are you even supposed to find this fabled blackmail against Celene?

Couldn't the blackmail be proof that she had a relationship with Briala? Wouldn't that make everyone in court flip their ****?

I managed to get the three of them to work together (which was great, the conversation basically amounted to YOU'RE ALL SHADY AS HELL, NOW KNOCK IT OFF). It required a lot of searching and backtracking to get enough Halla statues to get into Celene's bedroom (I had to go out on a random balcony and jump through a window to find the last one).

So in my game right now Gaspard and Celene are working together and Briala never got exiled as far as I know. You just need to make sure you talk to all of them, find all the Halla statues, and get dirt on all three of them.

I read The Masked Empire and thought that Celene was a total monster for what she did to the elves; she's more sinister than Gaspard to me because she doesn't admit any of her own cruelty. Briala's choices hurt everyone for the sake of the elves, and that's not a worthy enough tradeoff for me.

Gaspard was the only choice. He has his chevalier's honor and we need military assets to save the world.

I got the three of them to work together after I managed to exposed all 3. Have to say it's worth it and you feel like a smuggish Inquisitor at the end when all 3 are busy trying to outplayed each other, but got outplayed by the dark horse instead. You just have to explore more. There will be 3 doors that require 5 halla statues (1 of them is a witness that can blackmail Celene - might be part of it, as I think her locket is one of them as well) but you will only have enough to open one, the one that most player can miss is in one of this room (which is left door of the room where you save the Female Elf servant from the Harlequin -  Briala's blackmail). If you go near to the door that requires the halla statue, you can hear someone yelling for help inside and once you open it, feast your eyes ;)

Others like the notes Briala forged and the locket Celene kept in another room that requires 2-3 halla (I can't remember), not sure if it helps contributes. You also need a high court approval to initiate the expose Florianne prompt dialogue as well I think. I have the outcome scene recorded if people wanna see it.

Is Celene still empress if they all work together?

Yes. She would have to die to not be.

Yes. I did a save right before the decision and tested outcomes though, and it seems that getting them to work together changes which war table missions you have available after the fact.

Remember to not take everything from the books as canon.

Gaspard died in that, but woo-le-doo, he is alive and well in the game.

He never died, He was wounded in a duel but then went off whistleing a tune when Briala sent him through the Eluvian and the civil war continued.
It was never stated nor even hinted at he died

Maybe your getting him confused with Lord Seeker Lambert from Asunder?

I got put to 20 right when I walked towards the ball :(

You really need to work your ass off as a qunari.

Yeah, but it's doable.  I ended up with Court Approval of 100 when I confronted Florianne on the Ballroom floor.  It was my first attempt and I think it went pretty well since I got the Belle of the Ball achievement.  It was a bit stressful because I'm a bit of a completionist and I missed a few things (some of the halla, some of the coins), but I was able to thwart Florianne, save Celene, and urged her to exile Gaspard and Briala so no more lives were lost.  All in all, a fun quest and a good outcome for my goody-two-shoes qunari.

Hmm... your probably right.

I am gonna be honest here and say i really didint liked the books that much, i also have the Mass Effect books and even those (which i find slightly better) are still boring, only ever managed to finish Retribution, other other 2 are just gathering dust.

Dunno, while the Book-to-Movie transition usually gets screwed up, i think the same can be said for a Game-to-book transition, even tho the stories are very much unrelated to the games, it still feels... boring to read them (for lack of better term).

I'll probably explore more and try to do things differently next time. The halla statues are an absolute nightmare to find  to unlock areas and i think i got the minimum evidence really. Gaspard to me seems kind of power hungry and a backstabber so what is to stop him using my Inquisitor to his own advantage? In light of that she chose to save Celene and have Gaspard executed so he can't make more trouble for the Empire. Being a fellow Elf she also spoke positively of Briala saying that she helped get evidence against Gaspard. Looking back i think that was pretty foolish and in another playthrough might handle all of this different. Non Elf sympathizing playthrough definitely XD. She's just as bad as the rest of them.

You probably have enough evidence.  I missed two halla doors so I know I missed a little evidence.  I had plenty on Gaspard, but not a ton on Briala.  But when I got to the scene with Celene, Gaspard, and Briala to present my information, I pinned it all on Gaspard and told Celene that Briala helped bring him down with me.  Celene didn't even let me present all of my information.  After I presented three pieces of evidence, she cut me off and said that she'd heard enough.  I still had one or two more things to tell her.

I read The Masked Empire and while I typically playthrough the DA games multiple time to attempt every possible outcome & result, I'm still on my first run and there is no way that I'm leaving Celene on the throne. Whether I go with Gaspard or Briala remains to be seen?

I showed Briala the Dalish Ring she gave Celene, since she kept it, and told her she must still care, then publicly humiliated Celene's cousin, let her execute Gaspard, and told her Briala helped. They made up and it seems like they'll go back to being a couple.

While I was going through the operation, I thought I would choose Gaspard and support Briala having power behind the scenes.  Then Florianne revealed her plan and I wasn't about to let anyone working with Corypheus live (particularly after they tried to have me killed), so I denounced her and executed her right there in the ballroom.  I figure I'll put Gaspard on the throne for my second playthrough, when I'll also be siding with the mages since I went with the Templars this time around.

I will say I was surprised that she arrived for judgement in a crate rather than a heavily decorated urn - the crate didn't seem very Orlesian to me (unless they were really trying to shame her, even posthumously).

I didn't denounce whatsherface but does denouncing her publicly mean you can't side with Gaspard?

Thats likely the easiest as a human. Possibly only doable as a human. Since other races take a huge hit in court approval right from the start.

I had no trouble doing this as an elf, though it requires a bit save scumming to figure out where everything is so you can get around quickly.

Other advice is be nebulous and devious in all conversations, and wait for the second bell to be fashionably late.
