I sided with Celene, and had Gaspard executed. I thought stability was more important than... whatever it was that Gaspard would offer, which I wasn't really clear on. Plus I'm a closet monarchist, so the idea of someone taking a throne from a rightful monarch doesn't sit well with me. Then for good measure I threw Briala under the bus, because elves, schmelves.

Rightful monarch is Gaspard, though.

I feel like the game was trying to punish me for letting Celene die. It was this drawn out, bloody cutscene of her being stabbed close-up. I thought that was the only way I could side with Briala so I let it happen.

Yeah the only reason I sided with Celene was because it was so unclear what Gaspard or Briala in power would bring. It's pretty clear Gaspard would give you military strength and Briala would help the Dalish, but beyond that we know very little. Who's to say others won't suffer in Briala's mission to give the Dalish more power? We know what she's capable of. Who's to say people won't want to overthrow Gaspard? There was far to much grey area there for me

Opened up cases on all those b***ches and let them know who really runs Thedas. Was going to have Briala lead through Gaspard but getting to cow all three of them at the same time was just too delicious.
To be honest, I found Gaspard kind of a joke in game, which is rather sad after his strong showing in The Masked Empire.

I got Celene and Briala to reconcile but I screwed up the Belle of the Ball trophy. Now I gotta do another play through later. Anyone know of a guide to get the Belle of the Ball?

Yes, I felt the same. He was much more tame than the impression the book gave me.

It probably would've been better if the civil war plotline wasn't resolved within one hour after meeting him.

What does the epilogue say when you sided with Gaspard? Or Briala?

Absolutely, but even so his character in general seemed like a departure from how Weekes portrayed him in the book, which is strange. I suppose he could have lost his cool as the civil war escalated alongside other pressing conflicts, as he definitely seemed desperate.
In light of this, it looks like goading Celene into the trap at Halamshiral was either a fluke or a plan devised by one of his more savvy allies, most likely Remache. Turns out that was a very poor decision in retrospect.

I really wanted to choose Gespard when the time came, but the option wasn't available to me when I got to that point.
It just made the most sense for my character.

Finally managed to find dirt on Celene. Forcing them to work together was pretty awesome. I tried reconciling Celene and Briala too and holy **** was I surprised when she actually made Briala a duchess or whatever right then and there. Not sure which option I prefer now...

Okay, how do you find this dirt on Celene? (And this dalish ring for Briala?) There's a place where there are two doors that require a bunch of halla statues (you can only choose one)- I don't think that is it, but is it? Must have answers!

I also want to know where to get the dalish ring for Briala, I got the dirt on Celene, but can't find a ring anywhere. If it's behind yet another hala door I don't think I have enough to open another after getting the dirt on celene...this quest is so frustrating.

It's behind a secret door in her room, IIRC.

Sorry, in Celene's bedroom. Wish I could be more specific but that place is a maze and all I remember is there's a hidden door you have to open to find it.

I have looked everywhere in her room and spammed my search and am coming up with nothing
this is so frustrating...I've searched everywhere all over this palace and looted everything, and the only places I can think is the two hala doors I won't be able to access that I found after the fight for that mercenary to blackmail the one dude with. ...

The elven locket is in a Vault in the Servant Wing, not in the Empress quarters.

A halla room. Also when you confront the Empress (via her maids) and Briala with it, the dialogues changes depending on wether your approval is higher than 85 (I imagine, bc it's the level required to confront Florianne) and might affect wether you can reconcile them or not in the end.

thanks...I gotta restart that whole mission now because there are no more hala statues that I can find.....is there a trick to getting enough to both find the dirt on celene & also get the ring?

Well I managed to find 10/10 statues and access the Vault AND the blackmail material on Celene but even then, I didn't have enough to unlock the last two doors, they each contain some sweet loot but no clues.
