Alright, so at Halamshiral we get to decide who rules Orlais: Celene, Gaspard, or Briala (through Gaspard). I'm only wondering who you sided with and your reasoning for it. I also want to know what you all think would be considered the most "good" choice here.
If you side with Celene, there's stability for Orlais. This leads in the least amount of casualties and is the most stable transition for Orlais. No viva la revolution here, Celene isn't looking to change the world
If you side with Gaspard, you get a military leader at your side. Not only that, but presumably Gaspard wants to change things, whether for good or ill.
If you put Briala in power, she will change things for the better for the elves, but there's no telling how this will affect the rest of Orlais.
I didn't read the masked empire, so I'm missing crucial context in regards to this decision. I just want to hear some thoughts from you all.
A shame you can't have the better half of both Celene and Briala ![]()
I'd like stability but also better terms for the elves. Why does there always have to be a bad side in those decisions?
I got all three to work together, which in the end doesn't really seem like a good choice. You just grant a reprieve to all the problems, and tensions will bubble over again soon enough. Also, I recruited Florianne for the Inquisition she's way too useful to kill.
The only thing I liked about this mission was having my whole crew rocking the formal attire like they were old skool Royal Marine officers or something. The structure of it was weird (This is 'The Game'? A time trial ping hunt? great idea), my inventory was maxing out for half of it and the narrative basically just assumes you have read the book, which I hadn't.
The second worst main mission of the game for me so far, after the time magic nonsense.

You can reunite them and Orlais enters into a new golden age.
You know I got the belle of the ball achievement and told them all the shut it and work together. Gaspard and Celene had there speech of peace and all that but it look like it only worked out for those two. Briala seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet and Solas made it sound like something bad happened to her when I was talking to him after. Maybe I will actually pick a side next playthrough...
I actually think of reuniting Celena and Briala the equivalent of giving a kidnapped victim suffering Stockholm Syndrome back to their tormentor. Briala had her family murdered and was used as a sex toy by said murderer who brainwashed her into believing she's a friend.
It's quite possibly the most evil thing in gaming outside of Jade Empire's mind-control sex slaves thing.
Then again, I read Celene as genuinely evil while other people seem to see it as a romance rather than a deconstruction of one.

If it brings peace to Orlais and improves it then I hardly care about wether the relationship is healthy or not.
"I detest the game." - Gaspard
"You're becoming Emperor if you put an end to THIS lunacy!" - My Inquisitor.
He has the rightful claim to the throne, is the most powerful ruler and certainly the more likable one for me. Whereas Briala wants to just use you and Celene will work to undermine you once Corypheus is dead Gaspard is an honest ally to the Inquisition and an honest ally is worth ten thousand false ones.
Not necessarily.
He may have had the "rightful" claim to the throne through blood, but his dislike of Orlesian politics is what caused him to not inherit the throne. Had he manipulated (or even had an interest in them) the politics correctly by befriending the council of heralds he would be sitting on the Orlesian throne instead of Celene.
Since he didn't he ends up throwing a tantrum and starting a civil war. That's not really a sign of a good leader. What's going to happen the next time he ends up throwing a tantrum?
I'm coming up on this quest soon and I was wondering if it's possible to have Celene and Briala on the same side with Caspard exiled? If so how do I do it?
I'd rather not reunite Celene and Briala romantically because even Briala deserves better than that but I'll go that way if I have to. If she's willing to get back with her parents murder that's really on her. And Gaspard alive would keep Celene tied to the Inquisition.
