No offence but what is there to update?

Spirit blade spam+fade shield and then pop Resurgance when in trouble.

Very hard to play....

Kind of broken if you ask me, but enjoy it while you can.

Yeah you are squishy but hey....grab some talents in the keeper tree. Guardian spirit is a must have, and then add in obviously Strenght of spirits.

The knight enchanter needs around 10 skill points in total to go through nightmare, the other skills is just for fun but not needed.

it is not that hard to play, most enemies die from rift mage + knight enchanter combo with right spell so i didn't spam Spirit Blade which pretty boring lol. Also i did mention in the guide to take some talent in Spirit Magic tree :D

didnt realise things had to be hard... tho KE is def harder to play than reaver for sure.

also if you think a KE is squishy, you are missing one of the 2 key points of being a knight enchanter.

@OP yeah I had been advertising the huge dmg potential of knight enchanter + fire build for a while now, tho I do see you pulling out numbers a bit higher than mine prly due to you having the storm talent that increases dmg the lower the mana you spend, I never used it cuz I assumed it would be situational or electric dmg based (like chaotic focus is) will def try taking it next build on my KE :)

the only thing that I been able to build that does more dmg is archer assassin (melee prly does more but playing nightmare is with one is too risky)

The build seems pretty solid. Its pretty heavy in the inferno tree, would you still recommend this build against a fire resistance dragon?

Yes. My KE's are speced similar and the fire spells still hit for good damage thanks to Chaotic Focus. Every other skill its strong too.

The OP build is almost perfect but missing one important passive skill and its in the top row right after Winters Grasp, so no reason to skip it. Mana Surge give you an free spell every time your barrier depletes. The trigger is not only if an enemies destroy your barrier its on every deleted barrier and this are many many free spells. Each fight starts with an free spell because the deleted barrier at the end of the last fight gives you an free spell at the start of the next fight.

The OP spec with Mana Surge, Flash Point and Clean Burn has enough mana to spam Immolate, Fire Mine, Energy Barrage and Winters Grasp endless. My Lvl20+ KE's wont use Spirit Blade at all if I set Immolate and Fire Mine to prefered. The CD's are very short and some spells wont trigger their CD at all. All my KE reach 50-70% crit rate without an Artificer rogue in their group.

Being a qunari raises your dps by 20-30% on its own as a mage. Mana regen skill form spirit is also pretty important to have more mana to spam spells, Mana surge is good too. If you have enough points you can go all way up the storm to grab static cage as well since its OP on any mage. My endgame skill setup is:

  • Spirit blade
  • Fade cloak
  • Fade step
  • Barrier
  • Fire mine
  • Barrage
  • Static cage
  • Mark of the Rift

I used immolate earlygame but lategame with high crit chance you just spam fire mine through flash point. The OP build is quite good but is undergeared. I was doing similar damage at lvl 12 or so. In crafted gear this would take much less time. KE can start soloing dragons lvl 10 with crappy gear though, just takes a while.

- Strength of Spirits
This is a must passive to get, this makes your barrier stronger which mean this passive makes your spell stronger thanks to Chaotic Focus.

This is not true; SoS does not increase your Chaotic Focus bonus.  At 100% barrier, your Fire Mine will do the same damage with SoS as it will without it.  Chaotic Focus bonus is based on your barrier percentage, not raw barrier.

SoS is actually bad for damage, because it makes it harder to fill up your barrier.

The most common "cookie cutter" build I've seen is pretty much identical to what you posted except that the Spirit tree takes the Rejuvenating Barrier branch (which gives a very noticeable increase in regen) instead of the SoS tree.

[Edit] Rejuvenating Barrier means you cast more spells, which reduces cooldowns with Clean Burn, which means more DPS:

I'm definitely going to have to try out this class. Thank you all for your tips on the builds, I'm going to have to tinker around and find what I'm most comfortable with.

Actually, the entire spirit tree is a waste of points for the KE. I play on nightmare without a single point in the spirit tree, not even barrier. Those points are better spent in other trees, either for alternate damage spells or useful passives. I also find mana surge useless, as a well played KE's barrier never drops.
