Hawke because well he deserves a heroic death and thought he had the biggest chance to defeat the demon.

Loghain, because the man deserved to go out in such a way that his fellow Wardens would feel shamed for the way they treated him after the Blight. I get not being trusted for several years after what he did, but eventually some of them should have seen past that and noticed how he was doing his best to uphold the tenants of his new order. Allowing him an honorable death, one worthy of song, was the least I felt he was owed - and it felt like an extra slap in the face to the idiots who went along with Cory's plan in the first place.

Considering it was either Hawke or a Warden that i had never actually met until now, i think the the aswer is obvious.

 

 

As for Loghain, he already had his heroic death by killing the Archdeamon in DA:O

Hawke, he really seemed tired of all the death, responsibility. Aside from that Stroud was the only Grey Warden not corrupted and able to lead the Grey Wardens back. If felt pretty painful to sacrifice Hawke though.

Alistair. He was just so weary. The Calling would take him soon anyway, and he's never considered himself a leader. I thought of the Wardens and the trials they faced, and thought that seeing Alistair as a willing martyr instead of following him despite his insistence upon not leading would be best for their organization.

 

Hawke is slightly younger. She still has connections and things left to accomplish. The Inquisition could still very much use her, if not for her physical abilities then for her social prowess and celebrity. I love Alistair very much, but it seemed an obvious choice for me who needed to be left behind. He deserved a hero's death, since that had been taken from him against the Archdemon years before.

 

The King's bastard could finally rest easy, knowing he did all he had to do. He took on an old god by himself. For Thedas.

It took too long to make this choice for me, why did Bioware have to make me choose between two characters I adore...

In the end I chose Loghain. He's going to die soon anyways and this is his chance to truly redeem all his past crimes from DAO by making sure the inquistor, the only one who can beat COry survives.

I chose Hawke. The Wardens were already in a state of disorder, and with Stroud being the only Senior Warden left in active duty in southern Thedas, I felt he was reqiuired. The Wardens are necessary to defeat the Blight, and if they were all persecuted and left with no leader in the South, we would surely fall come the next Blight. With the Architect and Cory running around, you can't be too safe.

 

But Varric's face when I told him...... I was depressed for hours. Hawke was my friend, but he was not a necessity. He had to die

I went and looked up what happens if Hawke dies though, and...jeez. Varric's reaction is heartbreaking.

Hawke. The choice was between her and Loghain, and it was the single hardest decision I've ever had to make in a video game. If it had been Stroud or Alistair, I wouldn't have given it a second thought; I'd let them die and Hawke live. But Loghain is hands down my favorite character in dragon age, and I'm very attached to Hawke, as well. What ultimately swayed my decision was the thought that Loghain needed to survive to help the Wardens - that and I somewhat like the idea of  him constantly being denied the chance to sacrifice himself as atonement. Having said that, I was quite disappointed with the Warden's epilogue, them going into a civil war and Loghain going missing. I'm currently on a second playthrough with the same world state and I plan on letting Hawke live this time; if I end up liking that ending better then I'll change it for my main playthrough on the keep when the DAI section opens up.

Hawke or a Warden I wont give 2 pennies about, obviously the warden of such and such blankety blank. Loghain is dead, Alistair is King, so neither of those will be in that wardens spot. Iffen I assumed this right.

Yeah, found out one I am rooting for as an LI, drops likes alot, but someone shared that the personal missions will recover that easily. So I can move past that now.

Hawke, though it was heartbreaking.  I had Hawke and a Warden Alistair who'd romanced the Hero of Ferelden.  My Hawke was slipping into Villain Protagonist pretty hard at the end of DA2 and definitely made the mage/templar thing worse, so this was a chance for her to die a hero.  I guess I'm just a sucker for tragedy.  I felt so awful for Varric.

I let Stroud kick it because... seriously the choice there was "who would you rather let live? The guy you spent an entire game bonding with, whose death would break the hearts of several other characters you know and love...or...this RANDOM DUDE?!"

 

Of course after that I spent the entire time paranoid that somehow the game would screw me over by later on killing off the character you let live, only to have the other one pounce triumphantly from the Fade covered in demon blood later on. Luckily this was not the case...I think?

hawke only because the save state i used every one of his family was dead and he thinks himself some what responsible for what happened with the mage templar war. and thinks he allowed the current mess we are in to happen (let cory live). figured it was a way for him to actually be a champion and hero by sacrificing himself for the others

I chose Hawke. Everyone she loved but her brother was dead and she was clearly depressed. It was better to let her die heroically in the one act that goes RIGHT in her life, than sacrifice Alistair who was needed by the Wardens for leadership. And it gave her story more closure than "she up and disappeared to Weissenhaupt".

 

Though man, Varric's reaction was heartbreaking.

Hawke. The Wardens need a leader and Hawke has served his purpose. The only reason I'd choose Hawke is because he's my ex-protagonist but in-game there's no reason why I should value Hawke more than the Warden.
