The true point in MP is for Demon Commander to establish his position as the one true god of Thedas.

Bask in his glory and be enlightened.

The purpose of single player is to be the best character you can be to lead the inquisition, defeat the evil demons, and bring together the mages and templars...

So, because of this, you do not need the leaderboard.

The main thing driving you to play in single player mode is story. Thus, like a movie, you want to get to the end to know how it all unravels. To do this in this game, like many other games, you want the best gear you are able to aquire throughout the journey. In some respects you are in competition with yourself, but this is only the case because a stronger motive--finish the story and find out what happens--drives you to want to do this. However, this is not the case for the multiplayer gameplay for this game. That is, there is no good story leading you to a big boss you must defeat.

Usually to offset not having a story there is pvp . Or, the multiplayer helps in some way to finish the plot in the single player to get a better understanding of the story. There are other ways to make it more interesting to get people to play. Like I mentioned earlier, you can add more competition.

I'll put it simply: They are trying to get you to fetch a ball even though you know you wont get a bone for doing it. This doesn't work for me.

And the bone is a leaderboard?

Or was it to kill other people, was it?

Definitely not working together with other people!

We demand archer pvp and leaderboards while the game is hot!

Let's unite and stand together!

Lol myala. But that is something you have filled the gap with---Like the dog saying "well, my legs are stronger now. BARK!"

That aspect does not set it apart from the trillion other games that you can play together and test your skills.

Regardless, you do not need skill in this game for multiplayer. You just sink time in it and you will eventually get to where ever you are trying to go with it. Or, just use real money to do it faster.

Ever heard of warframe?
It's an incredibly popular free to play co op multiplayer game.

Ever heard of mass effect 3? It has an incredibly popular online component.

Ever heard of gauntlet?
Dragons crown?
Diablo 3?
borderlands?

Ever thought of the concept of PLAYING A GAME BECAUSE ITS FUN?

I mean, multiple people have already told you that you're retarded. Not sure why you're still trying to argue.

You apparently don't like any co op multiplayer games. That's fine, you don't have to. But you're still coming to this forum and posting about something you clearly have no interest in playing, which is kinda weird.

I don't go to farmville forums, assuming there is such a thing, and question why people play it. Because I already know the answer, it's obvious - for some reason they find it entertaining.

Please go away.

Oh and one more thing: some of us grew up with this thing called the Nintendo Entertainment System. Tons of those games didn't have multiplayer, OR a story worth playing through. But it's because of that system, and the games we played on it, that you're able to be on this very forum posting nonsense.

Show some respect.

Your missing the point...Oh, before I get to that...

Yes, I have played all those games you have mentioned. And the thing is all of those games you mentioned have a better multiplayer, keeping in mind they are all older games. They all have challenges (or story) incorporated in their multiplayer that puts this multiplayer gameplay to shame--even though I think all those games you described are on the low end for true-gamers. Real gamers want competition, hardcore competition and real challenges.

..and the point is there is not enough. It may be enjoyable at a certain level of gameplay for some--just like someone could make a triangle football out of a piece of paper, flick it around and find some enjoyment in that.... But, considering the advancements in technology and the number of patented programming architectural formats they (bioware and ea) have at their disposal, this is plain garbage. ..The whole setting seems like a rip off from kingdoms of amalur.

And FYI, lol , I grew up on atari. Shoot, considering NES, have you beat TMNT, contra (without the code... up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start), and/or Battletoads? Moving, forward, have you beat Stuntman (hardest racing/derby game of all time) and the original Demon Souls?

Again, I didn't say I had a problem with single player, I have a problem with sheisty publishers putting out garbage for multiplayer videogames to increase their bottom line. This game being a prime example. All it is is a money grabbing ploy. At least, that is how I see it atm.

You are right. It's just a mindless coop game. I find them fun. Some don't. Move on. As previously stated. You won't top leaderboards unless you make it into your life mission.

@sir jessku

Tyvm for realizing I'm right.

@UmmmOrochi

People with your attitude is the reason why we have mediocre games like this. People are settling for cheap garbage chuck meat when what they paid for was a top of line prime rib plate with the fixings. If the chef can get away with it, he will. However, if people start speaking up and rate this crap for what it is so other people coming a long will decide not to waste their money, they will be forced to give us what we paid for.

I think what most people suffer from is the sunk cost fallacy. Basically, they threw money at it so they try to find reason to justify it, like acting like they like it. Works the same way with time. They sunk time in it so they find more reason to play it, reasoning with the old self. After a while most people will come to realize the actual worth. Though, it's easier to just face the facts now: damp sucks!

Ok, I'm new to this game.  I really am not sure of the point in multiplayer. Do you just keep playing the same stuff over and over until you get to the boss, or something?  Is there an ending to it? Do you get accomplishments? Is there any competition? Are you trying to get farther than anyone else in dungeon, and, if so, does the game weed low levels out of certain games? What is end game to it? It seems that any joe shmo could play it. I mean, you just go in and mindlesly attack stuff to find loot. Why find loot when you could beat the dungeon without it?

I played multiplayer for about 30 minutes as an archer. I could not play any longer than that because it got way to boring. I had to exit out....It just seemed like an endless dungeon, and the whole time all I did was auto attack because that was all I could do.

Am I missing something, why is it so boring?

You seem very confused, which is understandable.  You only played for 30 minutes!  I'll help you out by answering your questions.

1) No, you don't keep playing the same thing over and over.  You there are 3 distinct levels comprised of 5 zones.  You play until you have either completed the 5 zones or your party wipes.  Then you see a scoreboard screen with a summary of how you did.  There are 12 classes to pick from each with multiple build options, 3 random enemy types you can fight, random quests in each zone, 3 difficulties and 3 teammates which combines to form an impressive amount of variety despite its deceptively simple interface.

2) Yes, there are achievements.

3) Yes, there is competition

4) No, there is no endless dungeon.  Low levels aren't weeded out, but for the most part they stick to the easy difficulty (routine).

5) End game two fold.  A) Promote feature - take any max level (20) class and reset them to level 1, gaining a permanent stat boost to every character on your account.   B) Item hunt - find the best loot you can get.  There are common, rare and unique items ranging from ilvl 1-23.  Get the best gear you can so you can succeed at higher difficulties, gaining xp and gold even faster!

6) See 5).  You definitely are not beating the higher difficulties without better loot (or being carried by people with better loot)

You're welcome and feel free to ask further if you are still confused after reading my answers!  Everyone starts as a noob, no need to be ashamed of asking silly questions.

Wolgpaq, I had a question. Why does the game have so many damn bugs? If there was a glitch that gave out free chests that **** would be fixed immediately.

I have no idea, but I'm really hoping they get fixed ASAP!

I heard someone say that the bug with vases spawning more vases instead of loot is actually supposed to be a vase that has no loot - meaning every vase is guaranteed to drop loot right now if you keep breaking it.  Enjoy that glitch while it lasts!

...but has it been confirmed by Bioware that there is supposed to be vases with no money?

Well, since mediocrity is enough to make ea big money, so there is really no incentives for ea to try to achieve excellency.

Not that I'm aware of.  Someone just threw it out there in voice chat.  It makes sense to me that vases wouldn't be guaranteed loot - usually in other games random breakables aren't guaranteed loot, but the person could have just been guessing.

I'm just saying, it's possible that we have a glitch in our favor!

Axel, brah, I get it.

You want to change the world, make people think, shake up the system....

It's a noble gesture... but the internet is sadly the wrong soap box.

For what it's worth I agree with you that the MP, while fun in the moment, lacks longevity or definition to make it stand out against other MP modes of games.

DAMP feels archaic in what it offers. It actually reminds me of the old old old D&D arcade games. You put your money in, run a dungeon, and ultimately walk away.

That being said, I really enjoy DAMP. But will I still enjoy it in a couple of months? I doubt it.

Sadly there are more involved mobile games than this..  In fact this is a watered down cell phone game that lacks any kind of depth that would make this worth investing time in.   What a let down.   :(

I hope the first part was ironic.

You seem to forget that DA:I is first and foremost a SP campaign. MP is a nice addendum, like ME3MP was.

You´re free to think it´s not worth investing time in the MP. Then maybe you should go back to your deep mobile phone games.

DAMP is like the endgame part of MMOs, all the bullshit and boring time-sinks stripped out. I haven't even touched the SP yet, I'm hooked, despite all the issues.

The point is to have fun, like any video game. Specifically, to have fun together with other people or, if you're lucky, with your friends/SO/family/whathaveyou. Which is something a SP game won't ever be able to give you. Don't get me wrong, I love SP RPGs and I play the hell out of them, but saving my SO from a phantom's sync kill, popping heads together on Firebase Giant, casting a barrier on your friends at the exact right moment when everyone's about to die, share the moment when you open the umpteenth large chest of disappointment and you get no unique drops once again and you laugh it out... All those things are priceless to me.

Then of course there's the "find badass gear - top the leaderboards - complete the challenges - optimize every build" part that will keep you coming back. I find the build optimization incredibly fun, and let's not forget that Bioware will most likely add new enemies, characters and abilities in future DLCs.

If you're not into any of that, then by all means stop at your 30 minutes experience and walk away. But please don't come here just to ****** on something that most of us on this forum enjoy. It's very inelegant and childish. If you don't like it, don't play it and don't troll the forums. Simple as that.

The point is the same as it is in any online RPG - fight monsters and build a character.

Believe it or not there are people who enjoy jumping right into combat and running dungeons that are very challenging without being bogged down by story and annoying quests.
