Hey guys!

just finished my first play through as a mage which was decent, knight-enchanter is righteous because it makes you basically unkillable but its not near the highest amount of DPS, and can get stale. Starting second play through but I'm not sure what to make, I hear 2H reaver is highest DPS but feel it might be similar to knight enchanter (RoP, Dragon Dragon Dragon, devour, repeat as necessary) or am I wrong? if rogue which gives a sense of being the most powerful? Thanks!

I've been playing Assassin Rogue and that has awesome DPS. Level 14 and averaging 500+ with crits, through Stealth and Hidden Blades. Assassins deal auto-crit through Stealth and have a skill where, upon killing an enemy, Stealth has no cooldown. Also, Full Draw has dealt 2000+ damage through that Stealth. In addition, Assassin Rogues can get 50%+ Armor Piercing, so ... pretty much everything dies. You can one shot low-armour enemies and destroy bosses via Stealth crits.

That's fun.

My tempest archer hits for around 300-400 auto attack with fire flask I just spam explosive shot and long shot for 1500 a piece :)

And don't get me started on thousand cuts... Took out like 10% (exaggerated slightly) of the high dragons health I fought last night

Would say dw assassin. Im at lvl 14 at nightmare difficulty and find most fights quite easy. Specced him to have nearly 100% crit from flanks and out of stealth. If You now pop an attackelixier with 100% increased crit dmg you do ~5000 dmg with deathblow (twice^^) and most minibosses have around 15k-20k hp.
For normal trashmobs you just pop out of stealth with an attackmove, use deathblow and reenter stealth. Its just fun to see them drop dead. And at higher lvls, you can just use mark of death, enter steahlt and then use your combo to douple your dmg.
Dw assassin deals insane damage. But you die quite easily if you screw up ^^
I have crafted two daggers with 3 guard on hit just for the extra health and that makes the build really op. You cant tank anyone, but youre at least save from these pesky aoemelee attacks.
Havent encountered high dragons with this build but i would guess, that you wont fare that well against them.
If i get a few lvls more under my belt, i would like to use the stealth skill in my combo. mark of death, steahlt, stealth blade (or what its called) twin fangs for armor pierce, auto attacks (have the +10 endurance on crit), deathblow. Think i would kill minibosses with that combo. Also stealthblade gives you these sweet -4 seconds on active cooldowns :) you can also spec 50% armorpierce for 6 seconds when you come out of stealth.
Would spec archer for the first 10-12 lvl or so, becouse if youre not constantly steahlthed anything can kill you sooooo fast ^^

I play as a Reaver and you pretty much summed it up.

ROP, Dragon Rage, Devour, rinse and repeat. At level 12, topping out at 1.5k damage near death, 450 with full hp. Of course I find spec-ing in Vanguard synergize really well with the Reaver spec.

It effectively replaces my need for HP by building guard allowing me to spam Dragon Rage with little care for HP, as long as I don't kill myself with Dragon Rage.

The grammar they used might not have been the greatest, but those were all english words.  No reason to be rude when someone is attempting to help, or make a contribution.

Edit:

Forgot to contribute:

I have only played Rogue Archers.  One I ran as tempest and then started a new character and went with assassin.  Both specialists are good.  Assassin is more of an alfpha strike, with Tempest you can gain a little more consistant damage I think.  The archer is really an alpha burst character that specializes in taking out mages and other softies very quickly.  I dont feel it is a truly sustained dps class.  there is a lot of auto shooting for lower numbers.  But at lvl 13 3-6k opening damage (8 seconds or so) is not unrealistic.  But you will be doing a lot of auto attacks for another 20 seconds or so.  With tempest you can drag out your damage for 12 seconds or so with upgraded fire flask, but it will not have the burst of assassin and mark of death.

I vote Reaver.  At 18 I do about 1000 damage a swing with Dragon-rage (It's spammable and faster than the basic attack with my two-hander).  As my HP drops, that scales up significantly.  I generally try to stay around half HP, at that point I do around 2500 a swing.  I gain 31% HP per kill, so I can generally spam Dragon-rage as much as I want in a fight without worrying about my HP dropping too low.  For longer duration fights I pop a regen potion (I've upgraded mine for maximum duration/heals) which helps significantly with keeping my health at a reasonable level.  If I'm sure my target's not going to fly off in the next 10-15 seconds, I'll pop Rampage, which effectively grants me 10 (13 with Enhanced Rampage ring) seconds of invulnerability (not exactly, but I heal back all the damage I'm taking virtually instantly) and free reign to spam Dragon-rage to my heart's content.

That said, Reaver definitely takes a bit more effort to play effectively.  It takes some practice to get used to managing your health.  Even so, it's a ton of fun and very worthwhile.

The Rogue Artificer Archer is very strong (Game Set Difficulty: Hard)

Here is my strategy;

First off Some stats, my archer is 21, has a 54% chance to critical strike, and 68 Dexterity. I also use a epic ring that gives 20% increased critical strike bonus damage and my second ring increases long shot damage by 30%. I also use a fairly normal 183 Damage crafted bow.

"Long Shot" when used properly at max range does 4000+ damage critical and will pass through others dealing 4000+ damage..

"Poison Weapons" (Damage Boost) Paired with "Explosive shot" = "Poison Explosion". (I often use this with Solas Vortex ability that sucks everyone in.). The end result is explosive shot with second talent will do max damage and everyone one will be poisoned.

"Opportunity Knocks" This ability states that when an ally scores a critical strike your cooldowns will refresh .5 secs quicker. However I'm 90% sure this works form your critical strikes to.

^ I believe this to be true based on instances where it seemed to work for me. An example, When I use leaping shot, it fires 12 Arrows. I have a 54% chance to critical strike, After leaping shot most of my cooldowns are reset, I can keep "Fallback plan" up 75% of the time due to this and spam leaping shot pretty much one after another cause the cooldowns reset after each use (except fallback plan because it has a fairly long cooldown).

How do I keep my stamina up? "Looked Like it Hurt", After each critical strike you regenerate 10 Stamina. Remember my 54% critical strike chance?  Firing 12 arrows at once with "Leaping Shot" that's going to be a lot of stamina.

I also use stealth to drop threat, but not being assassin that's pretty much all it does, drop threat.

I don't use full draw, It's only better than long shot against undamaged enemies. Instead I just used the point in sabotage. I use one of the traps since you have to spec to them to get the additional critical strike anyway, I normally use spike trap for the knock down, then I just hop into stealth since my cooldowns reset so quickly.

I use Hail of Arrows, it makes "leaping shot" insane. You end up firing 24 or 36 arrows at once and don't forget those quick cooldowns, and "Looked like it Hurt" You mine as well have an automatic shotgun.

My role in the group is to protect the support (Solas) because the support keeps the tank (Blackwall) alive and the tank keeps them off everyone. I do all this crazy damage, but I die in 1-4 hits (Enemy Rogues will sometimes get the jump on me coming out of stealth, if I don't have a trap down). "Fallback Plan" is my heal. I don't really have a need for a fourth party member, but if you can stand being in a group with Vivienne she's a good choice for extra barriers and resurrects.I use Dorian the always dying mage because Vivienne is rude.

You will die quickly if you don't utilize fallback plan correctly, but that just makes it more fun, knowing you could of done something differently to survive.

If you decide to try the Artificer Archer after reading this I hope you have fun!

P.S. *****WARNING/IMPORTANT!: If I use hail of arrows when fighting a high dragon the game will crash. It is just too much damage to quickly, I could literally kill high dragons on hard in less than 30 seconds, however the damage is just too much too fast. As many of you know the dragon goes through phases during a fight and if you kill them to quickly the phase doesn't trigger correctly. On that note, only use hail of arrows during the final phase.*****

Wish I had more too add, but I  have my archer at lvl 5 and 2Hander at level 7, so still too soon for me to tell.I am interested to see what others say. I really want to like my archer as I think it will be awesome later in the game, but it's been a bit boring to start with so few skills. 2Hander I was surprised, didn't think I would like melee after originally starting with a DW rogue and seeing how hard it was to maintain position. But with the 2hander its not as important and he has some fun abilities so far.

Good topic, looking forward to hearing more about it
