I may reiterate some of the issues and compliments posted by other members on the forums or elsewhere on the internet, but these are my opinions, and I will state them. Even if it seems repetitive.
I'll start off by saying, I love the game so far, I'm really enjoying the gameplay and story, despite its flaws. Though there are a few issues I'd like to pose. There are obviously the clunky PC controls, and they could, and as far as I know, are being improved (at least Bioware made it known that they're aware of it).
Movement can feel unusual at times, especially when it would be more appropriate to walk, not just because it's weird to be running full-tilt through town, but when you're two feet away from an object, and you want to get closer to pick it up. Your character breaks into a jog and you often end up overstepping your target. This is also something I find a bit odd, that your character doesn't auto-move to pick said object up, there's already a click to move in the tactical view, so I didn't understand why I can't do it. Obviously console gamers don't have as much of a problem, because they can use the analogue stick to control their movement speed.
Along the lines of movement, combat is a bit frustrating when you're in the middle of a skill, and you feel like you should be able to dodge an enemies attack, be it an arrow, that you can see them about to fire, or a slow moving spell projectile. Your character is immobile, sometimes seconds after you've executed a skill (I noticed you can activate another skill before you can walk). This leads to a break in immersion, when I can clearly see the flags for an oncoming attack, and I feel like I should be able to get away. I heard a mention in another forum, that there should be attack cancels, and I wholly agree.
I find the lack of a healing spell (despite there being a description in one of the schools of magic saying some spells can heal) kind of irritating. I searched quite a while through the spells for something that would recover health, and found nothing. I felt disappointed at the least. And I've always made a point in many games to avoid using potions whenever possible. Usually just a personal goal. Even if the healing spell had an exceptionally long cooldown, or used up a lot of mana, it would be preferable to relying on the work of another mage or alchemist.
On the subject of spells, I noticed enemy mages using a kind of Fade Step that showed more precision that the one available to you, where they would whirl through the air and land at a specific spot, where the one available to us just sends us flying in the direction of a keypress. I feel like, the system where you use the AOE targeting would be better, ie, the game lets you select where you want to go within the spells range. But this is simply a personal thought, and I found myself jealous that the rebel apostates could have such a cool spell.
On the bright side, the game is absolutely beautiful, from the lush foliage, to the detail on the terrain and in castles. There's so much to explore and do, and the graphical quality really helps to set you in the world. Bioware's graphics team did an exceptional job.
There's so much variety in the different areas and the crafting system is quite interesting. There is loads of dialogue to be had with the characters in the game, and I find myself wasting away hours in the game.
Bioware has done a splendid job with their game, it has its flaws, and I hope they can be worked on, any thoughts?
