I don't know who's idea it was to place every research object in valuables and make sure you could sell them for a ridiculous amount of money. I just lost EVERY @#%$ RESEARCH FOR 20 HOURS because of that.

was it really that hard to get another category for research item?

Yeah agree.  Very strange oversight.

Agreed, they should of put research objects somewhere else like in crafting mats, I know you don't exactly use them in crafting but you do need them and they shouldn't be mixed with the junk <_<

Ohhhh, so that's why I never had anything to turn in. Someone told me that Valuables was just the new Junk and to sold everything. :/

Agreed. Research needs it's own tab in the menu.

I am pretty sure the game tells you this on one of the loading screen card things?  I know I read somewhere that Valuables was basically the equivalent of the 'Junk' bin from other games.

Agreed. An odd oversight. For sure it would be better to have a 'researchables' category. I accidentally sold like....5 of one of my requisition quests before of it, realised, went back to buy back and they weren't there!

wut?  And here I thought that I sold some research stuff on accident (immediately bought it back once I saw it in the buyback area), but now I know I didn't screw up and Bioware did.

Just make sure you deliver your research items before you sell off valuables. I know, pain in the ass and poor design decision, but there's your workaround.

The whole inventory screen isn't well - designed. But the valuables tab is the worst of all, it's almost as ridiculous as the 'junk' section from DA2.

I wouldn't say THE WORST at all.

But I agree this is pretty stupid. I guess I lost researchables 2 or 3 times because of that, before I figured it out.

Now I just manually sell each position. I just don't trust that damn "sell all" button.

Wait what... I'm confused what researchables do. I turn the items into the research table... And then what?

I JUST got rid of tons of stuff from my Valuables list, mostly Andraste trinkets, paintings or whatever. I didn't get rid of any gems, so I hope I didn't make a big mistake.

...but at least the junk section in DAII literally only contained junk items...unlike DAI...

Yeah, it is stupid. Fortunately I've never used the "sell all" button and I realized this tab contains research items before I tried to sell them.

True. I also don't like the fact that these 'valuable' items are being sold at really low prices. It just doesn't seem realistic to me, but of course it's not a very big issue, just saying.

Wait what... I'm confused what researchables do. I turn the items into the research table... And then what?

I'd say you're doing it right :-) I do the same thing - I return research items first and then I sell the valuable "junk". Not the other way around, otherwise you could sell the research items by mistake, since they're contained in the same tab the valuable items are.

It's called 'valuable' for a reason.

In a way it makes sense to find stuff like that on enemies or in chests. But I agree having the research stuff in there too is just annoying.

If this just happened, you should be able to buy them back.

The inventory screens are very limited. There isn't even a way to sort the tables. Skyrim had this same problem, but it was solved by player mods for the PC version (SkyUI). I think when Bioware moved DA:I to the frostbite engine we lost any ability to modify anything with the game.

Anyone remember the number of items that were visible at once, and the ability to sort on the PC for DA:O?

Moving them to Crafting tab is probably a good work around, although the concern may be that they aren't "crafting" materials and would confuse players.

Also, any valuable with a description that isnt Research is also something you might need later. Makes going through "valuables" all the more fun!.

It's more tactical this way, as it forces you to prepare before each encounter with the vendor.

Valuables can also contain crafting items. For example, Spider Ichor - an item under valuables with no description whatsoever, is used for requisition quest in Storm Coasts.

Agreed.

Research items should move to another category.

I assumed that "valuables" meant stuff like, diamonds, rings, paintings, and other things that are valuable, as in, are there to be sold.

In previous games you couldn't sell quest items. I guess that's no longer true, then.

All inventory and equipment management in this game is incredibly bad. It's clearly not a system designed because it was the best option, but rather to shoe-horn a semi-complex system into a controller based layout.

The handling of the valuables category is just one extra bad part of an overall badly designed system.

Paper doll and item tetris for life!

Oooops... Cleaned up my inventory yesterday before saving, don't even want to look...  :(
