While I'm very sisappointed that my whole party disapproves and Cass compares me to her loathesome uncle, it is too late to go back now and I need to build my build.. I'm thinking..

 

For sure:

barrier

fade step

energy barrage (i love this.. 50-80 dmg *  like 10 bullets at level 12.. does 500+ dmg)

walking bomb

spirit mark

fire mine

 

options:

fire wall. (i love it. high dmg, and enemies like to stand in/before it, so it keeps them at bay)

haste or the default focus ability or none

perhaps static cage to use with walking bomb, but i also have solas so I can use the wormhole ability)

???

Really the party disapproves of you? Interesting.

Rather than use wall of fire, use immolate. Its a cheap and very powerful spell especially with the upgrade and pyromancer.

I love immolate. And seeing as you're planning to use flame it seems a good fit.

Use pull of the abyss from solas to clump enemies together, then use your walking bomb.

Really the party disapproves of you? Interesting.

Most of the party seems to have opinions regarding the different specs, and most of them are leery of necromancy. Sera in particular finds it unnerving. I like that feature a lot, as there is some in game recognition of the PC's talents. 

 

For the OP,

Static Cage + Solas (all his Rift Mage goodies) is absolutely monstrous AOE damage. Send your tank in to clump the enemies up, Static Cage, then just have Solas smash them to paste.
