Today I worked really hard at creating a human female character that looked awesome, but once in the game she looked like a dog. She looked nothing like the character that I spent a couples of hours working on. And, I know that it isn't me and my my ability to create a great looking character. I tried to play the game with her, but at every cut scene she looked different each time. I can't play that way. It just takes away the immersion. I mean, you spend two hours creating the perfect character only for Bioware to ruin it in-game.
My Characters does not look the same in the game.

It's weird because I expected that to be the case. I think its FFXIV: ARR that is the biggest offender in this way. Often your in-game character is very different than what you created.
That having been said, I find the look in DAI's CC to be VERY close to what is in-game. If anything, I feel the in-game model looks even better. IMhO. ![]()

I run into the same problem. I end up wasting a lot of time doing things over. :\

That's a bummer. If you can remember how you created your guy, why not create it again, and take some screens from the CC, then some comparative in-game screens....might help other players and the devs.

Oh it's partly my fault. I think I have minor OCD. I don't like the CC, but I can't blame the devs for my obsession to restart ![]()
I end up getting it right sooner or later. It was the same with Skyrim.

I went through this over and over, restarting again and again, the intro was coming out of my ****** ears. The lighting in the tutorial area seems is a bit weird, it made the skin of my character look darker than it really was or the eyebrows blue (Black hair) and in some cutscenes, the facial animations seemed just plain wrong which made it look worse. Once I gave up trying to make the perfect character and went on, I noticed that once I reached Haven, all those problems were gone.
I just started my second playthrough and I went through this again.

It's just the lighting. I remember in one of the E3 videos or something them saying the lighting in the CC was different to the lighting elsewhere in game for what ever reason.. can't remember, don't care.. but yes I find mine look different, sometimes better sometimes worse depending on what location they are in, and how much flattering lighting they are in.

Creating a great looking character in Skyrim is a piece of cake. Even in DAO and DA2 you could create awesome looking characters that looked the same in game. Bioware Devs should stay of the Crack and do a better job. For many of us our character...the one we created is an integral part of our immersion into the game.

The CC is not without it's flaws, but still It's a lot easier creating good and realistic looking characters in this game than it is in DAO, DA2 and Skyrim without mods.

I just think it is so silly to use fade lighting to create our character! Great, we now know what we look like for a minuscule portion of the game.
Why not simply a sunny space, instead of always getting shoved somewhere dank?
What does BioWare have against proper lighting??

i actually had an easy time creating my ideal character look on FFXIV. their CC is way better compared to bioware's. and the fact they give you different backgrounds and lighting is great, and something bioware should learn from.

When I first started to play this game I felt like a fell down a damn rabbit hole and into Alice’s drug induced wonderland. Then, when I went to Val Royeaux I thought, “Jesus, am I tripping on blotter acid or something? What the hell?” I know this is a kind of fantasy game, but Jesus, let’s get real here?

I'm not sure what you mean. What's wrong with Val Royeaux?

I am well aware of the historical aspect of the French Inquisition as well as its Royal nonsense regarding Masquerade Balls and such, but to see it in a video game, to me, is a bit much. The costumes in Val Royeaux are considerably outlandish at best and extremely sore on the eyes. That is what I was referencing. However, despite not liking it I get the concept. Moreover, part of it was meant as a joke, being and old Hippie from the 60’s. You would had to have been there.

Oh... I love Val Royeaux and Sahrnia, I think they're both lovely with lots of personality and extravagance.

I'm on 360 and I feel the opposite of everyone else. It seems like the CC is missing a layer of texture or something on the older platforms because my character looks awful in it. I was a bit disappointed and frustrated while making my first Inquisitor. At one point I settled for what I could and just started playing. Luckily my character turned out way better out in the actual world.

Kind of agree. What I had a hard time was creating a human male in Skyrim specifically. Others were easier.
Same goes for here. Human males are tough. Plus, almost all hairstyles have clipping. wtf (clipping on some of the male face shapes at least. Some more than others).

After about my eight attempt I finally created a female Mage character...utilizing the #5 human female character all eight times... that looks almost like the character that I created in game. She isn't exact, but she is tolerable nonetheless. Below are four female character images from four different games that I have recently played.

Considering how incredibly well they did with the rest of the game, I'm pretty disappointed with the character creator. No the options, which are satisfying, but the inability to see what we're damn doing. It's nice that we can finally at least spin the camera around our character, but we really need to be able to completely move the camera around character to see different angles, change the lighting, move the lighting around. We need to see what our character looks like, and with the weirdo lighting in the current CC it's all but impossible.
Failing the above (or even with the above) it would be really nice to have an option to re-customize in the game, like in DA2 (and ME3, and Skyrim... and Saint's Row, and KoA, and countless other newer games).

I fear that EA has too much control over both budgets and developers. I would have liked to have the ability to mod the game and thus it would have allowed modders to rectify many of Bioware's mistakes or inabilities, as it were.
