Ok I know what I need to do to get a Spec but where do i get the trainers...
Im level 12 almost 13, have skyhold, but no missions on the war table to aquire the trainers plus my compaions have not unlocked their specs yet...which i thought was automatic for them???
I hope not dont want to have to start a new game only to slog through the nightmare boredom that is the first part of the game (looking at you hinterlands)..... 
I know the companions get their specs once they leave Skyhold the first time.
Otherwise, there was a op on the map to unlock specs that I found.
I am wondering this as well, I'm pretty sure the quest was just there on the map as soon as I got to SKyhold. I've been watching my girl play through the game though, and I kept telling her "yeah you should open up the base so you can choose your spec", the quest wasn't available on the war table when she opened it up though. Is there an influence prerequisite or something maybe?
Ok figured it out. After you get skyhold for the first time you have to leave and come back and it opens the quest up on the war table.
Just travel anywhere and come back.
