Just started this game yesterday, and I'm about 10 hours in. I'm on PC, and the controls are a little weird, but nothing I can't get used to.

The problem I'm having right now is that I've reached level 5-6, and the monsters seem to have suddenly got a lot tougher. I'm still in the Hinterlands, and I'm trying to close one of the rifts which is guarded by a despair demon (?) and a greater terror. No matter what I try, I can't seem to take these guys out -- or if I do, a second pair spawns before I can close the rift, and they finish me off.

Any tricks to killing these things? The despair demon has a rapid-fire cold attack that freezes me and does crazy damage, and the terror can one-shot me if my guard/barrier is down.

Other than that, I've also come across a valley full of drakes that can burn me to a crisp; and bears that charge and do more damage than guys wielding greatswords. In fact, last night I took out a group of bandits without any problems, before a couple of bears wandered in and proceeded to hand me my ass. Should I just get on with the main quest and come back once I've got a few more levels?

I'm playing as a 2-hander warrior, with the starting party: Cassandra, Solas and Varric. This is just on normal difficulty, I'm not interested in harder difficulties yet.

Look at the level of enemies. That despair demon is probably level 12. So are the dragons. Bears I think are around level 8. Just go to different areas for now and/or move on with the story and come back later.
