I will buy it eventually, but I already had plenty to play to keep me busy until a sale, but now with the disappointing changes and the reported PC issues, I will definitely wait.

Seems like you're quoting the wrong post...especially since that's not even from the same thread :P

Anyway, I personally feel like you're doing yourself a disservice, but I guess waiting is not a bad thing.  I'm on PC and I'm having an absolute blast.  Best gaming experience since...well Origins.

That depends on what was broken and what was improved. Are you going to be happy if I take the wheels and gas tank off your car but give you a new paint job and leather interior?

You honestly think that's a workable analogy?

To be fair, Metacritic's user reviews have become less and less useful over the years.  :?

I actually think metacritic should just be dismantled and abandoned.

Comparing essential elements to cosmetic ones is indeed dramatic.

I don't mind that users have a voice, but how often many of them abuse that power disgusts me.

True.

Consumers must have a voice but something more heavily moderated.

Maybe ditch the numbers systems.

not even the game forums give valuable information nowadays.

prerelease they are full of people riding the hype train

after release they jump on the mass hysteria train.

best thing is to watch MUTED review videos and look for yourself, with this you could have had a picture whats the game is all about (exept the far too frequently small and bigger bugs)

It's the downside of everyone being allowed to voice their opinion.

Exactly, which was OP's point rather than a comparison of the metascores.

Honestly, it took me a while to notice it was DA:O being linked to because so much of the comments mirrored the somewhat overly dramatic vitriol being poured out elsewhere.

no game deserves a 0, not especially one where the lore is such extensive. just for the background lore along (and not the even plot) is enough to give this game above 5.

btw, the areas are exceedingly beautiful and that alone is enough to give the game above 5.

0 for this game are just outliners and stupid. anything 5 and below are people who just so focused on the negativities (and let's face it, this game has faults) that they ignore all the good parts.

People who focused on the negativities are kind of sad and most self-help books advised me to stay away from them.

Those waves on the storm coast alone should put it above a 0.

To many people playing a new game is like listening to a new music album, the songs take time to grow on you.

The whole Storm Coast area is like a 9/10 automatically.  That place is beautiful.

Not to the game, but to the lament that it was a problem that people focus on problems and not what was improved. If the things that were ruined are substantial but the improvements are superficial, then of course the former will receive more attention.

Comparing essential elements to cosmetic ones is indeed dramatic.

Personally, I consider the team based tactical combat to be an essential element.

And if graphics was the only consideration that made a great game, you would have something.

I was kidding, obviously.  It was hyperbole.  I am aware of this.  Stop following me :P  (THAT WAS A JOKE BTW IN CASE YOU DIDN'T GET THAT)

LOL, I can't help myself.  I also appreciate the waves on the Storm Coast... I even remarked to them to my wife (who couldn't give a flying fig... oh well)

Psh what are you even doing with her then!  THOSE WAVES ARE MY JAM.

Also the loon/bird call is awesome.  And the effect of it pouring on the characters long enough that they look really wet.

It is... your analogy doesn't work though.

A better one would be "remove the wheels but fill the gas tank" :)

Even then it's still an extreme analogy to make, because the game still runs without complex tactical behavior setups.

The element wasn't removed. It was simplified.

On the other hand, plenty of other things were made more complex such as the character interactions, choices, crafting, customization, etc...

RPGs are not her thing.  Civ 5, different story.

I haven't gone into the ocean yet to see that.  If/when I ever get back to my PC I will be doing just that.

Don't think you can swim, the rain just looks really cool, your character looks soaked after awhile.

You get deeper until you hear a wet cry, fade to black then back on shore. No penalty just a 'don't do that'.

I haven't played the game and I didn't say it was a 0, so I don't know what your point is. Also, just because people worked hard on something doesn't make it good. I see what you're saying about it not being a zero when we've seen far worse (though maybe people worked hard on them but just had no talent). However, a 3 is still negative.

So, you admit you haven't played the game, and yet still think that rating it as a 3 would be acceptable?

Anybody who would rate this game after only playing it for 1-3 days is automatically an idiot anyway. I was disappointed that it's not very DAO-like, but I'm holding my opinion until I've gotten a lot further in. It's a 7.5 so far.
