Inquisitor > Warden > Hawke > Marquis

So far I like the Inquisitor the best because they are both voiced and can be from a number of races (and voices). Although I'm usually not about the whole 'chosen one' protagonist sort of thing, the Inquisitor is pretty deep in terms of responses and the kind of personality he/she has. Plus having a whole fortress to command, an army at your side and diplomats to handle a chunk of your problems? I'll take that anyday.

Warden comes second because you pretty much interpret/develop his/her personality. I enjoyed the origins and how you really experience the environment and world your Warden comes from, and you can develop very different characters from the same origin. Some things felt forced (having to accept being a Warden) but its one of the few BioWare protagonists that can literally be 'evil' (or anithero) and not merely paragade/renegon.

Hawke is last because much of him/her is already preset. I do like that there is a dominant personality/tone that he/she can adopt, but I really felt most of the time Hawke was a product of circumstance and just happened to 'be there'. The Inquisitor's situation comes from the anchor. The Warden's situation comes from a sense of duty. Hawke's situation comes from...no one else to turn to? Kirkwall being useless? That said I don't dislike Hawke but I'd put him/her on the lower rung of protagonists.

Marquis, if he/she even counts, is the lowest. Stinks you can't play a male hunter or female scholar. Stinks even more that The Last Court actually, well, sucks (imho). At least Hawke has a decent game (in my opinion). Marquis doesn't even get that.

Hawke > Inquisitor > Warden

It isn't that Hawke was a bad character or anything. They're very compelling. Their game and the main plot of said game just tanked.

So far as I am in DAI I have to say I love both my Warden and Quizzy. But after finishing the quest 'Here Lies The Abyss' and making a certain decision regarding Hawke, I now love them all as equals. :D

for me it is

1. the warden
2. hawke
3. inquisitor.

Strangley I like hawke more than the inquisitor. I don't know why. really weird.

but I can say this: I would give anything to play as the warden once again. I really miss the sensation when you meet NPc that you have met before and facing the consequences of your decisions.

I can't choose between my Hawke and my Inquisitor. They are both super awesome. And while I do love my Warden, he can't possibly take the lead over those two.

Hawke-> Inquisitor-> Warden = Marquis.

Sarcastic Hawke was fun. Inquisitor is a little bland, the warden didn't have much personality outside of head canon.

False, the warden was a canvas with which you could paint almost any personality you wanted through the dialogue options. DA:O was the best one in terms of role playing a character, whereas DA2 was the weakest. The character I feel that is my most unique creation was the Warden (followed by the Inquisitor), where Hawke felt more like Adam Jensen in Deus Ex, a character set in enviroment where your choices affect the enviroment more than the character.

With that said:

1) Hero of Ferelden

2) Inquisitor

3) Hawke

Inquisitor > Warden > Hawke.

Inquisitor is only higher than the Warden because I can't play a Qunari Grey Warden. Hawke is at the bottom because Hawke's only purpose is to fail, and while that's fine on it's own it doesn't make me want to put Hawke above the other 2.

Cerys Hawke > Sia Lavellan > (insert lots of spaces here) Marquis = Warden

Love my Hawke and Inquisitor, strongly dislike my Marquis and Warden. Marquis didn't have a real game and the Warden was a cardboard cutout that just stared at everyone and killed stuff.

If I play DA:O again, probably it'll change: Inquisitor > Warden.

Hawke has never been "my" character, he was just an npc controlled by me for sometime.

Even with dialogue options, I would say the inquisitor is far more bland than the warden. Most of his responses lack any sense of depth, are awfully generic and sometimes don't even go with what's being discussed. The warden on the other hand, despite not having voice, had some of the deeper dialogue and better dialogue options.

Probably most attached to Hawke. I love my Wardens, but with all the different origins I don't really have "one". I feel like I could attach any of my Wardens to my world state and it wouldn't matter much, but I have trouble envisioning Hawke as anything other than a male mage who sided with the mages, romanced Fenris, had a Grey Warden for a brother, etc.

Spoiler

I really like my Inquisitor Lavellan so far, but we'll see what it's like to play through the game as, say, a male dwarf rogue or female qunari mage before I say I'm super attached.

#TeamBrosca forever.

Brosca > Cadash > Hawke

If only Hawke could be a dwarf...

I don't understand how people don't get attached to a non-voiced protagonist... I just create a voice for them in my head, and it works perfectly. I never have to complain about bad voice acting or anything; they sound JUST like I want them to sound. The Warden also had way more ways to express his opinions, with many different dialogue options (not possible with a voiced protagonist because it would cost a lot), which gave him the most complex personality. In DA2 you were locked to 3 personalities (well, you could try to mix them togheter but the dominant tone system kind of ruins that....). DAI is even worse because you can only accept the majority of quests in ONE way.

In DAO there were plenty of times where you could say something like "This better be worth it" instead of "Of course I'll help!". You had a CHOICE to define your character. In DAI, the character is always very neutral and mostly helpful when accepting a fetch quest. What about the @sshole inquisitors who WANT to do it for the money, instead of doing it out of good will? Why is there not an option to accept a quest in a mean way?

Agh, midnight rant over

Inquisitor > Warden > Hawke

I like the Inquisitor slightly more than the Warden because the Inquisitor is as customizable as the Warden and as funny as Hawke (the way I play them). Also... I model my Inquisitor's appearance to be somewhat like Shepard (minus the hair, cant find the hair) and on so many occasion he so reminded me of Shepard  :D

Especially when he says "I should go"

I like characters in game and their interaction with other characters.  Hawke wins slightly over the Inquisitor with the warden behind.  I don't play games for a self insert, so blank slates don't appeal to me as much as well crafted and acted characters.

I already love my Inquisitor more than my Hawke and my Wardens (who are about equal in my mind). They have so much potential, and it's kind of frustrating to think that they might only get one game. You spend the whole game building the Inquisition into a force to be reckoned with, and then it just ends. What about all that talk of changing the world? I felt satisfied with the conclusions that my Hawke and Wardens got, but for the first time I want more for my Inquisitor.

I also liked how I found myself actually making characterization decisions again. Hawke was great, but I basically played her as 75% sarcastic, 20% diplo, and 5% aggro. This time, the responses aren't nearly so clear-cut.

I adore the hell out of Hawke. Particularly purple!Hawke, but the apparently all-three-personality-amalgamation Hawke that shows up in Inquisition is pretty spot-on too. I have a weak spot for good-hearted goofballs who will destroy you for threatening their friends.

My Inquisitor is a really close second though. Maybe it's because this is the first time I've been really happy with a custom-faced character, but I think the American voice is really well-acted and fun too, and the fact that I had a mysteriously American-accented Dalish elf gave me room for some fun backstory headcanon. I played him as a generally amiable misfit trying to find a place to belong and unsure of his purpose. And will destroy you for threatening his friends. There is a trend in the kind of characters I like, apparently.

The Warden, however, felt like a complete non-entity to me..

I had high hopes for Inquisitor, but fighting one of Hawke's boss battles isn't quite what I was expecting. And I'm not excited about the authority I'm given. It's like Bioware didn't know what to do with the Chantry and mage/templar war, so they decided to leave it up to me. I'm uncomfortable with that. Not only for the hubris it represents, but I just wanted a solid closure to this story. Something only the writers could do.

I might give my vote for Hawke.

Hawke --> Inquisitor --> Marquis --> Warden

I guess it has something to do with the Warden not having a voice.
