Warden > Inquisitor > Hawke > Marquis.

I have a lot of fun as Hawke, but I'm more invested in the Warden and Inquisitor's situations. Marquis is on the list simply for existing.

Inquisitor > Warden > Hawke > Marquis

I love the Warden but being voiceless makes the feel separate from the world. Hawke is completely useless, and only manages to make everything around them worse. Marquis is from a text based spin-off and given little characterization, So from what I've seen so far Inquisitor for me, their a great balance between Hawke and the Warden.

False, the warden was a canvas with which you could paint almost any personality you wanted through the dialogue options. DA:O was the best one in terms of role playing a character, whereas DA2 was the weakest. The character I feel that is my most unique creation was the Warden (followed by the Inquisitor), where Hawke felt more like Adam Jensen in Deus Ex, a character set in enviroment where your choices affect the enviroment more than the character.

 Like I said "head canon"...

The warden can be whatever you want in your head, but that is totally meaningless when the game does not react to that personality.  Hawke's personality was reflected in how the NPC's responded to him/her.  Seeing moments where Aveline cringes in digust over a poorly timed joke or being able to banter with Varric were way more immersive then just imagining the warden's personality and applying it informational text.

Yeah I'm officially putting the Inquisitor at the top. Once the game starts to get into its stride, the Inquisitor becomes a much more enjoyable character.

I'm still playing the game, but my Warden will always be my favourite.  I'm not sure I get the 'silent' criticism - just because they are voiceless?  There are snarky or aggressive comments in the text.  You can't really say the Warden has no personality, it is based off the choices you make in game that does that.  I think I like that about the Warden - the lack of voice acting or personality choices meant that you had to make the Warden 'you', role-playing the personality in your head.

Hawke is fine, but s/he is like reading a book about a character rather than Hawke being 'mine'.  So far, Inquisitor is just another character, we'll see if that changes once I've finished the game.

Warden > Inquisitor > Hawke > Marquis  for me. Don't get me wrong, I love both Hawke and my Inquisitor, but my Warden will always come first. I don't care if they lack a voice.

I have to disagree with you on that. Again, because the dialogue options in DA:O are far more extensive and have more reactions. Especially because it doesn't have a conversation wheel that simplifies the thing by putting the nice option on top and mean options below. Origins is far more dialogue oriented than the other two DAs and through that dialogue you can most certainly shape the personality of your warden and the reactions people have towards you. Even the race does affect personality and the reactions towards you. Be a humble human noble and you are bound to get good reactions (though not always, which makes it even better). Be a resentful dalish and people are more than likely going to be hostile towards you.

Who is Marquis?

1.  Inquisitor

2.  Hawke

3.  Warden

I prefer my character to have a voice actor and lines they speak.

Warden will always be my one and only. I like to pretend my Inquisitor is a Warden fanboy. And then there's Hawke who I honestly don't care about. He would be cool as a NPC but not as the player. In other words order is this:

-Warden

-Inquisitor

-Hawke

The Warden hands down. Either both male nobles or  the city elven female have interesting backstories to them. And even if they lacked a voice, the Warden could always say what you really wanted to say. And back then you really had to think your answer or sh*tstorm would immediately follow. Also, you had Dog, Oghren and Zevran to make up for the lack of voice of the Warden.

The second place would be shared by the Inquisitor and the sarcastic Hawke... It was fun breaking it up to Corypheus that he was a darkspawn. Dark. Spawn.... The inquisitor also has his/her moments.

The other hawkes would be on third place.

The big Inquisitor moments are imo when he/she makes those big decisions with that loud and clear voice, which is the only thing I like about voiced characters. Other than those moments I wish I just had a voiceless character.

Inquisitor>Warden>Hawke>Orelesian Warden (DA:A)

I don't know who the Marquis is.

I like them all, though, so no DA2/Hawke hate here - just feel closer to the character I could customize more.

Hawke>Inquisitor>Warden

Im a sucker for people with amazing personalities and I loved how hawke had an actual personality. Sarcastic Hawke is still my favorite game character, he made me laugh so many times and I loved playing as him just to hear how he would comment next.

The inquisitor is a bit bland in my opinion, its hard for me to get interested in him because he doesn't really seem to have emotions without the players input. It is fun pretending he is as obsessed with Hawke as I am after he worked with him though.

The Warden was far too much of a blank slate to interest me even though I did really enjoy the game. I like being able to make decisions for the character and shape them a little like with Hawke, but I dont really like having to imagine everything about them as you do with the warden.

I'm loving my male Inquisitor more than the others. My second choice would be my Warden. Third, considering in Origins I went for Alistair, and in DAII I went for Sebastian, I enjoyed playing an active role in the nobility and I would name my Marquise of Serault.

Unfortunately, Hawke is my least favorite. As much as I enjoyed Jo Wyatt's voice-acting, I just didn't feel very in-control of Hawke (her actions, anyway, I did like that there were personality choices).
