Anyone know how or where to find dorian if you didn't roll with the mage ? I am at skyfall and not got him in my party or anything

If you side with the Templars then Dorian is the last companion you recruit.  Just keep progressing in the main quest line and he'll literally run right up to your door.

Did you do the quest to meet Dorian?

 

If you did he should join in Haven to warn you of the impending attack.

It's not even a quest. Just progress further down the story and he will come knocking on your door.

I did meet him in red cliff he and I closed a rift together in a castle then while under attack he wanted me to open a gate so I did then he was helping some chantry guy as he was injured..... Then that's it... he's gone... nowhere to be seen

Oh well looks like I got to start the whole entire game all over again as it is bugged and dorian is not in sky castle place with me even though I met him in red cliff saw him when we was attacked and joined the templars

Don't you have a save right before you start the quest opening Skyhold?

For me, he was at his regular place in the library. He just doesn't show on the map because you haven't accepted him yet.

I mean when someone above said "runs up to your door" that was literal lol

 

I don't want to spoil anything, so this is hard, but there is no way of not recruiting him or at least getting the option too, he will ALWAYS show up at your door if you side with the templars and then you just make your way up towards Leliana and you'll see him in the library section along the way.  I mean it can't even be bugged, he WILL show up no matter what and if he's not in his normal spot it's a placement glitch and you just have to reload your game, he can't be removed from your game file, he's there, maybe just not right there for some reason, a reload will put him back though.

You have to tell him you want him to join the Inquisition. Not sure if that changes anything (you would think so), but there is a point in the mage quest line in Redcliffe where you have the choice to bring him on or not.

 

And, while I didn't join the templars in my playthrough, I would assume you're given the option to have him join shortly thereafter when you get to Skyhold, just like Cole if you joined the mages.

If you sided with the Templars Dorian will show up at the gates of Haven when Cory attacks with the mages. When you get to Skyhold he will be in his usual spot in the library.

 

If you sided with the mages, Cole will be the one to show up at the gates of Haven. When you get to Skyhold there will be a mini mission down where Cullen is to "Find the Lost Boy." Clicking on it will take you into a cut scene to choose for him to join the Inquisition or not

He will pissed at your for not choosing Redcliffe, and show up all bloodied to warn you about the impending attack on Haven.
